Owlthroat was impressed by the little pipsqueaks attempt to bat at him. Before proclaiming that one day he’d tell just as good of a story. It was almost commendable coming from such a youngster. Owlthroat had initially thought and hoped it would send him back into his shell of shyness.

As Palekit settled into the dappled sunlight next to him a soft reserved smile crossed blackened lips. He tentatively let his bushy tail curl around the kit and tuck him further beside him. An uncommon gesture for a bully like himself. But he saw the potential, this youngster would go far one day.

”If you ever want some serious training when you get bigger let me know, I’ll teach you the tactics to win and get that good story.” His voice lulling gently, not that he was ever a good role model. He’d poisoned many an apprentice and young cat over the years, but he’d taught them all to be tough. Building up their confidence, their swagger. Giving them chips on their shoulders unfortunately like his own.

But they were never not bold.

It was odd, how everyone always came looking for her around the warrior’s den. Maybe it was because she was of warrior status, and yet the young feline had never consciously set foot in the den save for the single time she came to appraise it, and decided the warriors den was as uncomfortable as the apprentice’s den. Ever since that day, Sleepysunrise had been resting in corners of camp, silently watching over in her ever-seated position until a gentle upright-seated sleep overtook her and she awoke minutes to hours later, few ever noticing her brief, subtle moment of rest.

It had become a habit, sitting among the darkest corners of camp the same way she used to lay in her nest within the nursery, waiting for mama. Only now, she was watching over the clan, silently ensuring none was amiss and all could be and remain safe. Until, that is, someone came seeking her around the den of warriors, and she had to leave her perch in order to approach them with silent steps, possibly spooking them on arrival when she spoke. This time, it was Nightpaw. Her apprentice, her charge, only recently appointed. She would forgive this transgression of seeking her among the warriors within the den if it was training Nightpaw sought. Though, he could work on his perception.

Hmm, she must not be here. After waiting around a little while, Nightpaw felt his excitement fade as he started to feel a little bit disappointed. Maybe he'd came here a little too early. So as he turned around to leave, his head lowered slightly, he almost stepped on…a paw? He took a few steps back and looked up to see a cat with black fur and a few white tufts too. When she asked what he needed, Nightpaw realised this was Sleepysunrise. She was here! He felt his excitement return at the prospect of getting to start his training.

"I was wondering if we could start training?" Nightpaw asked, "I know it's a bit early, but I figured it’s better than being late." That was part of the reason, but the main reason he was up so early was because he wanted to be tired by the time it started getting dark outside so he could sleep right through that. But he wasn’t going to tell that to anyone, that was far too embarrassing. A ShadowClan cat with a fear of the dark? No, he'd keep that to himself and just try and avoid any awkward situations.

Hm. Nightpaw had a point; she herself lived by that rule. It was better to begin training early than later in the day; a tardy session meant wasted training time, an unacceptable fear in the enforcer's eyes. She blinked, nodding slowly in Nightpaw's direction. Considering the early time, they could begin with a tour of the territory then perhaps get some hunting done by the end of the day, it would serve the apprentice well and the clan could always use more prey. With a flick of her ear, Sleepysunrise indicated her young charge to follow suit of the den and camp, quietly leading ahead towards the territory.

"Heheheh, just you wait!" Palekit laughs eagerly, kneaded the soft ground under him, "I'll make a story so so sooo scary, you won't even know it's not real!"

He had plans and only day, he'll get Owlthroat back. Until then, he has get better at telling stories and if Owlthroat was willing share his secret technique of story telling, Palekit was more than intrigue to listen. "Yes! I do want to know!"

Of course, that's for when he grow up. Today's been a day, definitely a day. A day filled with emotions, but it's a good day nonetheless. Owlthroat's surprisingly gentle voice had made Palekit sleepy. Slowly, blink by blink, Palekit had closed his eyes, laying in the dappled sun fast asleep. He'll count today as an success and deemed Owlthroat the greatest warrior in ShadowClan and, lastly, a friend whether Owlthroat likes it or not. Tonight, he'll dream of all sort of weird monsters he could talk about to scare him in the future.

Nightpaw followed along as Sleepysunrise led him to…well he didn’t actually know. He'd never been out of camp before, so he wasn’t entirely sure where they were going. Should he ask? No, no, maybe it was better to wait and see, he could work on his patience by not having to know right away!

As he walked to keep up with Sleepysunrise, he was probably overthinking his speed. Too slow would make him seem lazy, too fast would make him seem hyper. Why was he thinking so much about something as simple as walking? Nightpaw always liked things like strategy, but the more he thought about it, the less sense it made to try and apply it to…walking. Ugh, none of this was making sense at all.

@Estelle (I've never done a territory tour before so I’m not entirely sure how this works, would we make a private thread or something for it, or use the territory thread or something else?)
