Letting out a breath she hadn't realized she'd been holding, Mistfall breathed a sigh of relief. That rabbit was giving her a run for her expertise and almost embarrassed her in front of the other hunters. Luckily she'd managed to reassert dominance and snapped the rabbit up in her jaws. Hiding her freshkill, Mistfall turned her attention back to scanning for more prey around her. The fluttering of wings landing on a lower section of branches caught her ear. Flicking her ears in that direction, she listening and stalked in that direction. She couldn't see the bird exactly yet, but she knew it was there.

- There will be a five-round system where we will roll dice for each cat participating. The results will be as follows:
* 1-5 = automatic fail; you miss the catch.
* 6-10 = you catch one piece (and perhaps not as smoothly as you'd want).
* 11-15 = you catch two pieces! look at you!
* 16-20 = you catch three pieces, wowza!
**Note: if you have the Ultimate Predator purrk, your dice will be rolled twice! The better outcome of the two will be chosen. Please notify us if you have this purrk if it's not listed on your header/posts!**
- But beware! Not all numbers are as they seem... some random numbers between 1-20 have been chosen as 'trapped'. Rolling these digits might land you in a rather inconvenient situation. Each group will have different 'trapped' numbers. Perhaps the dice will be kind to you? Perhaps not...
- This will be a semi-fast-paced event where we will be wanting to roll every 2-3 days to keep it moving, so if you're participating, please be ready to respond! No post means no dice rolls, so if there isn't one, we will skip over you for that roll.
Oh! Oh!! He was excited, alright. There it was, the mice under his claws. He'd finally done something! After days of practice and failing so many times, for once, his practice has come to fruition. Of course, he'd remember what happened with the lizard... so before the little pale calico can celebrate any further, he'd made his kill.
Palepaw found a space to bury his prey before continuing his hunt. He looked back just a couple of times to remember the spot. Hopefully, he'll be able to find his way back. What's next? His paws are a little jittery, aching to give hunting another try. He closed his eyes, and sniffed around with ears open for any sounds.
Some sort of rustling gave way in the depths. It was a strange noise, not one he'd heard of. On closer inspection, this critter was weird... It was little, long bodied, smooth and it had no legs. Palepaw remembered some older cats calling him snakes, but he'd been too afraid to try them. They...don't look very tasty.
Should he give this one a try? He'd never learned how to hunt a snake before. It shouldn't be so different than a lizard...right? Palepaw dropped into a crouch and moved forward towards the snake.

Given that her roleplayer thought for sure that she'd posted but never did, Briarsplash was quickly sent on an impromptu hunt after gloating in victory. One quick trail later, she found herself rushing rather ungracefully at a thrush, yet still managing to use her hunting prowess at least a little before she'd gone and ruined the catch.

Sleepysunrise
[ 13 moons | She / Her | Shc Enforcer ]
Sleepysunrise, though not skilled in the matters of social cues, could have a perceptive eye when she so wished. Such as, when many a cat were out hunting despite the recent dangers within the territory, out to fill the clan's bellies with prey. That is to say, the youngest enforcer had not failed to notice Shadepaw seemingly adjusting her pose as they went along, and the feline found herself observing - appraising - the apprentice for a minute. Though refinements were always necessary, either Shadepaw was skilled or her mentor had done a decent job (for once) as the younger feline seemed not to be struggling much. As such it allowed any comment on Sleepysunrise's end to remain silent as her focus shifted back to Willowpaw.
This apprentice seemed to be struggling more despite her age. It was disappointing, mostly on her mentor's end; she did not like to see it. But alas, the woes of being a regular warrior... Failing the simplest of tasks that was training an apprentice for life. With focus now on Willowpaw, Sleepysunrise did take notice of the apprentice's silent steps. It seemed her stealth had received adequate work, at least, and she almost had good hope -- but such hope was wasted. She huffed a sigh, padding up beside Willowpaw and flicking her tail so the apprentice would observe. Silently, Sleepysunrise stalked off to catch a nearby shrew, presenting it to the apprentice moments later. "Again."
The enforcer mew, blinking as though she were saying "you know your mistake".

Kitty Soft Paws, Heightened Perception [smell]
[a small, fluffy tortoiseshell she-cat with pale green eyes and an atrociously fluffy tail, a small tick in her right ear, and a scar on her cheek]
maybe she was too drowsy.
now that she thought of it that was probably it. it'd been a while since she'd gotten a good nights rest. like, uh, four days? maybe five? she'd lost count. willowpaw wasn't even surprised when her claws landed on empty air, and the feeling of disappointment that followed was nothing new either. willowpaw trotted back to the enforcer. the apprentice looked up at sleepysunrise. the word "sleepy" made her eyelids feel even heavier. she shook herself; she couldn't fall asleep on the job!!! only losers did that!!! she was the opposite. she pranced sluggishly away from the spot where the mouse had escaped, completely missing the enforcer's gaze. willowpaw assumed her eyes wouldn't hold much but criticism; something she didn't need right now.
it wasn't long before she found another scent trail. a mouse, from what she could gather in her state. it was rather far away, but the worry of whether it was out of bounds of the designated location barely skimmed her mind. if it was outside the boundaries, then so be it. she repeated it a few more times as she padded through the undergrowth. willowpaw kept on doing that thing when you are like half asleep but then your brain realizes "oh shoot we're supposed to be not-sleeping rn!!!" and jerks you awake. her attention was briefly taken from trying to not fall asleep. was that.....? she wasn't sure what it was, but it was very very faint, and made her ears twitch in confusion. then it faded, and she was sure it was just her being half-asleep. the rest of the way towards her prey was spent arguing with herself over if being half-asleep on the job was just as bad as being actually snoozing. it was a stupid argument, but she felt too tired to stop her probably three braincells from debating it.
no, there it was again! wheel....... wh..... it was very faint, but she couldve sworn it was there. wh.... wheel.... o....
the thought that she was hallucinating went unnoticed, but that thought was completely right.
it seemed to be coming from the same direction as the mouse. willowpaw couldn't really but it together though. she hastened her pace, rather startled by the odd noise.

"Life would be so much better if only i were a gourd"
a brief struggle ensures, rookfire and a whole bunch of feathers, dust and pine needles clouding his vision, yet, at the end he somehow manages to get away with three limp crows on the ground splayed around his and the biggest question mark known to man metaphorically floating over his head. for a while he just stood there, staring at the crows in disbelief and trying to figure out how in starclans name he had managed to catch not one, not two but three crows...n those birds werent really small either.
once the surprise and confusion settled a bit, he gathered up the crows, dragging them back to where the seperate groups had left which wasnt far from where he had caught the crows and buried them half heartedly before walking around the area to check out the other cats prey. they had already gathered a bunch and with three more rounds planned rookfire was almost afraid of the amount of prey theyd bring home. hell, there probably wouldnt have to be a hunting patrol tomorrow if sleepysunrises and briarsplashs group had caught a similar amount. unlike last time, there was no cat to be found around with any questions and only the prey they had delivered to where he had told them to as a sign that everyone was doing as they were told. he was positively surprised actually, with this many cats it could of course be that some were pulling the weight of the group whilst others slacked off but he was feeling like being optimistic and pretending everyone was doing their part today.
satisfied with the lack of stolen prey and the overall amount they had gathered right now, rookfire returned to tracking, maw agape to let the fresh forest air filter in and the shallow scent of mouse catch his attention.
as rookfire turned back to the forest from where the prey was buried, the scent was faint at first, barely more than a whisper of what once was, and certainly not something he would usually pursue, but as he moved through undergrowth slowly, pushing ahead quietly as to not startle any prey, pawsteps light, it grew stronger slowly. it took a while and took him further away from their prey place but ultimately lead him towards the hollow opening of a old tree, thick dark moss covered bark splintered in places and roughly spread around the pine and grass tufts covered space around. the mouse, or rather mice he had scented were chittering softly to each other, shifting around on tiny paws and tugging at blades of grass and carrying small nuts and bark in and out of the hole.
all three he could see were about average mouse size, one of them a greyish pale brown, another of a deeper, richer brown with a dark nose and maw, and lastly a rough furred dark grey one with a almost black tail and face. whilst he had never seen mice that were actually as dark as the mice here without being soaking wet from the rain, nothing else about the mice was out of the ordinary. in addition to their appearance and position that rookfire noted absentmindedly, they appeared calm and unsuspecting as rookfire pushed through the undergrowth carefully, steps as light as possible to avoid alerting them through the vibrations of his weight on the ground. the hole in the tree was his biggest issue right now, if he leaped too late they would be inside before he could do as much as say 'mouse' but if he leaped early he may not cross the distance quick enough or miss potential prey that had made its way inside for whatever reason.

Eesh, that couldn't be good. This apprentice either had no skill or terrible luck... Even Sleepysunrise could tell as much, blinking a slow single time as yet another catch escapes her grasp.
