Re: RiverClan Medicine Cat's Den
@ Rainquail @ Dipper
Dogflame was standing in the medicine den after getting in to get a checkup when Flyfur stormed into the den. The tom shot his adopted mother a smile. He was in pain but he didn't mind. Fawnsqueak had told him that his injuries weren't bad. "Hi Flyfur" he greeted the queen, a hint of pain in his overall calm voice.

The said sensation wasn't something he'd felt in a long time nor anticipated. Almost enough to heal his dopey paw. Almost. Watching as Fawnsqueak gave himself a quick round of licks, amusement bubbled in his green orbs.
"Fawnsqueak. I missed you." He remarked, his voice brighter than it had been upon entrance. A grin curled on his muzzle.
'Are you okay?' The simply stated question was one he had far too many answers to. But how could he explain the judging eyes, his desperate longings for the sky, his neverending whirlpool of worry, the clouds of sadness and the comforting embrace of death? ...best to start with the basics instead.
"I should be asking you the same question." Eagleflower mused, green orbs studying Fawnsqueak carefully. There was a somewhat stressed and frazzled look about him. And...shame? He couldn't be sure why, but the look alone was enough to propel him towards the other tom.
Padding forwards carefully, he was able to make it a few steps of the way before his injured paw gave in and caused him to trip, throwing the brown-toned tom off balance.
Lying in a small pile on the floor, Eagleflower hid his flushing face in embarrassment. Their first meeting since that night and he was already a hot mess. How could things get any worse? In many ways, he reminded himself.
"I may or may not have gotten into a fix involving an angry bird and a ditch?" He suggested, peering out from behind his paws. You could count on him to do something outrageously clumsy like this.
|
Fawnsqueak didn't catch it at first, offering a vague, "Yeah, I'm sure RiverClan missed you too--" before he replayed it in his mind, eyebrows scrunched in scrutiny while he stole a fleeting peek at Eagleflower to silently ask if he'd heard that correctly. He'd automatically assumed he said something about missing RiverClan but closer examination had his pupils blown, reduced to a momentary sputter. "Me?" he finally asked through a voice crack, a puff of a laugh breaking through him at the absurdity. "No way, man." He didn't believe it for a second. (Wanted to, oh definitely wanted to.) Eagleflower had always been too kind, patient with the worst of them.
Although about to respond with questioning, that was cut off into a hum--too high in pitch, surprised and tight and somewhat strained because Eagleflower was advancing on him. Unexpectedly. He wasn't ready for more than the briefest of looks, hadn't had time to prepare himself to be even borderline presentable. The last one who should know about his mess of a lifestyle was Eagleflower. About to conjure a muddled protest of "I'm fine", it was forgotten entirely when Eagleflower tripped--in spite of his earlier reservations, he was bolted forward in a flash to support him or at least cushion the fall.
Might've been more effective if he could've gotten there on time.
Leaning closer to his paw, .. that was not looking so good. There was a definite injury. Involving.. an angry bird and a ditch? "What was the ditch angry about?" Fawnsqueak blurted dumbly, knowing the adjective hadn't also extended to the ditch but unable to help himself, hiding his grin. "Here--hold on, you should probably try not to move that paw." He disappeared briefly to get sticks and cobwebs, binding it in place to help with his suggestion.

Slowly lowering himself to the ground, he shifted around until he was on his side with his injured leg jutted awkwardly out beside him - jostling it as little as possible - where Fawnsqueak could get a better look at it. Aside from its unusually rigid, tensed up posture, it appeared to be in perfectly normal shape, only giving an occasional errant twitch whenever he moved.
“It came outta nowhere in the middle of me swimming,” he added, figuring that he’d need to give more context, anyway. That helps with diagnosticses or whatever, right? “I don’t know what caused it, just that it hurt a lot and I couldn’t move it at all until we got halfway back home. It’s mostly, um.. a real sharp and throbbing kinda pain? Not nearly as bad now as it was at first, though.”
Pikekit scowled at his leg as he finished his explanation, like his disapproval could shame it into feeling better. Of course this was how his first experience with swimming would go.

So it was stuck. Or something. Yep. That was pretty weird.
"Oookay," Fawnsqueak said as he took a dragging breath inward, at a loss as to what he should be expecting as he hovered over the affected limb. It was at an awkward angle and tensed, twitched a little. Disturbingly reminded him of himself, but maybe that was too narcissistic in the most self-defeating way possible. He could move it though, and that was a good sign. The pain was fading, too.
It occurred to him that a broken or sprained bone wouldn't have miraculously healed on the route home, and he stared closer, more intensely. Like his detecting glare alone could scare the hurts away. Maybe their combined disapproval would put the thing out of its misery. "If it's constantly getting better, it might.. just go away? What happens if you, like, stretch it?" Fawnsqueak asked, morbidly curious. Walking a line and taking a risk, but it seemed as though movement had previously helped.

Flyfur outstretched her neck and rested it next to his, head curling over his shoulder in a pseudo hug, relieved he was well enough to be standing on his own.
"I'm sorry I haven't been by to see you sooner."
She detached herself from her son.
"I don't believe anyone came to tell me and it took me a day or two to realize the clearing was distinctively lacking you."
Not because we was forgettable, but the combination of the large amount of cats in the clan paired with Dogflame's ability to be very stealthy if he didn't want to be seen? Sometimes he was hard to notice.

The tom let Flyfur hug him, his eye gleaming with happiness. He turned to see if Fawnsqeak was there. He swore the medicine cat had told him to come a day later for a check-up. Maybe he wasn't here because he didn't need one? Dogflame paused to listen to his adopted mother. "It's fine" the young warrior reassured her.

She felt..... better, knowing it wasn't too bad.
Flyfur pawed the ground a bit, lettingnout some energy.
"If you don't mind me asking, what happened?"

Re: RiverClan Medicine Cat's Den
@ Dipper Puffpelt walked into the medicine cat den. He couldn't hide his cough forever. It has made him so weak and sick, he can't eat anymore, he can barely breath! (Just a heads up, I want old Puffpelt to die from this cough if possible!)

Re: RiverClan Medicine Cat's Den
((okay!))
Fawnsqueak's head angled at the elder Puffpelt who.. he was surprised even made it to the medicine cat's den considering the shape he was in. No wonder he hadn't seen him much if this was how he was operating these days. "You.. uh, doing okay, there?" he asked, a formality. He cleared his throat and took a step back to gesture toward a nest. "Want somewhere to lie down?"

With a nod of his head, puffpelt walked over to the nest and colapsed. He began another fit of coughing. "What's wrong with me?" He whispered to Fawsqueak. A whisper was all he could get out.

....Mmmmmaybe that wasn't a door he wanted to open, and Fawnsqueak deliberated on an answer, actually unclear on what he should be saying. There were a few things wrong: old, coughing, weak. Potentially dying, who knew. Puffpelt could take his pick.
Fawnsqueak wanted to make a quick trip to Lionstar's den to see if he was worth the catmint but hesitated, angling his gaze away. He'd just pretend he knew Lionstar's answer, and it would be: eh, sometimes you gotta let some go. "I don't know, but.. uh, I'll try to figure it out. Do you have any denmates?"
Yeah, that probably didn't look great. Not knowing who the elders of the clan were, but he didn't have a lot of reason to converse with them.
