She gave him a soft nod, and settled on a large rock nearby. The silver she-cat stared towards the ever so vast sea and crashing waves, before mentioning, "It's...it's Floodpaw, for now. Until I can earn my name back."

Floodpaw had come to accept the fact that this mistake wasn't going to be the end of her, and admitting to it would be the first task. Her gentle voice continued, "I do love it here. It's my first time here after returning to RiverClan. I used to come here a lot when I need to think, and sometimes...I don't think. I just stare- at the waves that come back regardless of the season."

Duskclaw flicked his tail a bit. "I will not participate in a humiliation ritual." The colossal tom's voice had a tad of venom. "Your name is sacred. You earn your name as a warrior. The fact we allow a Leader to take it is cruel. You are being humiliated for a failure, Floodsight. Humiliation teaches nothing but shame." Duskclaw focused his gaze out to the sea once more. He let heartbeats of time pass before speaking once more.

"I'm glad you returned. Waves come and go, I hope you do not follow them." Was Duskclaw trying to flirt? Who knows with his everflat tone.

Floodpaw nodded gently, though not fully agreeing with Duskclaw's words. Perhaps it's the way she was raised, growing up in this environment, she was bound to be shaped by the rules and laws that contained them. Yet she also gave the large tom's words some thought. There was definitely merit to other ways of thinking, though different, Floodpaw appreciated his point of view. "Thank you, Duskclaw. I've never thought of it in that light, but yes, it could be seen like that. But no worries, I'm sure I'll be able to earn it back in no time."

Though her smile wasn't full, the silver she-cat still made her attempts at it.

Duskclaw licked the top of Floodpaw's head with an amount of care unusual with him. "It will get better, either way." Duskclaw's voice was more of a softer tone. He didn't know why he was doing this, perhaps he just didn't want to push Floodpaw away, perhaps something different.

Floodpaw had returned the purr and soft nudge the large tom's shoulder with her muzzle before returning to stare at the setting sun and crashing waves. A moment of silence fell between them. It wasn't awkward, just a peaceful serene moment.

"What do you think the future holds?" Her voice wavered a little, between hope and worry. The last few seasons has rapidly changed her and RiverClan. With the changes in leadership and whatever in the stars happened this leaf-bare, she was so unsure. Yet something tells her it would be fine. Afterall, life would continue regardless of the goods and bads, she'll just have to work through it like everyone else.

She chuckled, shaking her head. "Silly question, isn't it? Such an open ended question, yet I wish I knew a definite answer."

"Enough about me, how've you been?" Her stormy eyes gaze over to her friend. Even though she found comfort in his presence, she can't say she knew much about him and that made her all the more curious.

Duskclaw didn't really wish to answer the future question. It would hurt Floodpaw to see what Duskclaw hoped for. He was not a cat of peace. The future he wished was one of blood; one of ThunderClan voices crying for mercy just to be silenced by his claws. The colossus wished to stand so tall above the clans that no cat would be able to look up to see him. He wanted all to bow for him.


...Wanted. Past tense. There was a new feeling. Between the drops of blood and torn flesh there was Floodpaw's soft, well groomed fur. What is this feeling!? His thought was so loud it was visible on his face. Duskclaw had a lot of thinking to do. Now that he felt there was someone to lose, he would have to be far more careful with future plans.


When Floodpaw asked about how Duskclaw's been he snapped back to reality. Realizing he'd zoned out, Duskclaw shook his head a bit. "I am fine. Been trying to learn to climb trees. It's not easy as a cat of my size...I hope the future is bright. I will not promise or propheci anything though, as much as I wish to do."
