▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ ▇ █his ears flattened, he rather do this himself but he watched hawk give the instructions. easy enough. he's climbed plenty of trees when he was a kitten. his flicked his tail aiming to ignore rookfire as he padded to a tree he was able to get to, his claws flexed as he leaped up and latched his claws to the tree, his claws scrapped it, his body dragging down a bit but he began to lift one paw at a time as he climbed up, he wanted to get to the branch above him, his hind legs bunching up as he aimed for the said branch and- (rolled a 18) his claws latched onto the branch his body dangling before he lifted himself up and looked down, his eyes slanted as he realized how far up he got- "now now, you no kit...just get down" he muttered to himself as he moved a bit and wiggled his hindquarters before leaping down, his paws hit the ground with a thud, doing what he was hawk do by bending his legs, he felt the impact and yes, it hurt but he didn't say anything. his sat down and licked his paws, between his claws which now had bark between them. █ ▇ ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁

Ah, Honeysucklepaw. That name was a bit of a mouthful. Lupinepaw wondered what possessed his Clanmate’s parents to give them such a difficult name. He did not ask, of course, but the curiosity showed in the way he furrowed his brows and scrunched his nose. Ah, but this was not the point. Lupinepaw going his partner and nodded. "Shall we?"

After waiting for a response, the reddish tabby crouched near a nice looking pine, wiggled his haunches with his tongue sticking out, and leaped forward. He did not get a lot of air, admittedly, but he stuck to the tree! He was just a bit too far from the lowest branch for comfort. "Ah. Skies." He muttered to himself before carefully letting go of the trunk. Luckily, he was not too far off the ground. So, though he landed with a thud and a small hiss, he was perfectly unharmed. With his fur just a bit ruffled, Lupinepaw turned to Honeysucklepaw and tilted his head. "Your turn?" he inquired, gesturing with his tail to the tree.

Honeysucklepaw's attention turned from the commotion to Lupinepaw. He flashed a smile before giving a gentle nod "Uh- Hey yeah sure-" He padded toward their tree, watching Lupinepaw's attempt at climbing, he stifled his laugh at the fall, nodding in response "wish me luck" He said with a playful grin before mimicking what Hawkbite had demonstrated as good as he could. His leap was alright but he hadn't sunk his claws in deep enough and ended up skidding down the tree slowly, he was determined to at least make it to the bottom branch though.

Before he hit the ground he tried to force his front and back claws deeper into the bark. After finally managing to stop himself from skidding down he pushed himself up using his front and hind legs. He paused looking down. Honeysuckle hadn't realized just how high up the first branch was. He swallowed nervously as he forced himself up toward the branch.

Once he was up he lowered himself to the branch, sinking his claws in deep. Stars it was so high up. He forced a shaky smile down at Lupinepaw, though wasn't sure if the other apprentice could even see it from all the way down there. Realistically it probably wasn't all that high, but to him it was the highest he'd ever been.

Before he could open his mouth to actually wish Honeysucklepaw good luck, his Clanmate was off, and then skidded slowly down the tree. Well, that certainly wasn’t good. Lupinepaw watched, eyes wide and curious as to how Honeypaw (because that was basically his name, may as well get rid of the two extra syllables) was going to get back up. And somehow, he did it! And ended up very high up. The four moon old cat peered up at Honeypaw and, after seeing him smile a bit shakily, offered a quick smile before his Concentrating Face was back on. Surely he could do this.

Attempt two. Lupinepaw leaned more on his haunches, wiggled again, and leaped! He made it further up this time, learning too from Honeypaw’s mistake and making sure to grab on tight. Well, he was stuck fast now. It took a bit of effort to unhook needle-like claws from the bark of the tree but slowly, surely, not at all gracefully, Lupinepaw shimmied up to the lowest branch. And now for the dismount. It was not at all a clean dismount, in fact, at one point, Lupinepaw’s front claws were digging into the branch as his hind legs scrambled for something to grab ahold of. In the end, though, he did it. He managed to cling to the large bough and pressed himself up against the trunk.

It was a long way down, at least for him. Lupinepaw realized for the first time in a while just how small he was. He shot a glance toward Honeypaw and mirrored that shaky smile he had offered from above earlier. "Well," he mused, both to himself and his partner, "What now? Would you care to try to dismount? …All the way down to there?" There was a slight quiver to his voice. "Or perhaps we stay up here to catch our breath?" Truth be told, Lupinepaw was not looking forward to jumping down the tree and wanted to put it off as much as he possibly could. But if Honeypaw decided they should go down, then he would follow his lead.

Oh stars...

Hawkbite lazily walked over to Ashpaw, peering up at him curiously. Quite the ambitious one, eh? Thankfully, a stuck claw wasn't an emergency, he would survive this ailment! "So, Ashpaw. You, uh, needing help there? You're looking a little stuck," Hawkbite called towards the apprentice, raising a brow in amusement. "If it's a claw that's stuck, look at how your paw is angled. Press down lightly and slide your paw in the direction your claw entered the bark," he instructed, waiting momentarily for Ashpaw to do so.

While the apprentice figured that out, he'd eye some of the others who hadn't even started yet. "If you're waiting on your partners, don't! You can start climbing as soon as you have a clearing, so get some practice in! We'll be around," Hawkbite called to the group.

His gaze would momentarily catch Honeysucklepaw and Lupinepaw. Great! At least some of them were getting the gist of it! "Take it slow coming down, remember, be safe, not fast right now," Hawkbite would call in a generalized manner, though it was mostly aimed at that pair.

Then, his attention focused back in on the Ashpaw, waiting to make sure he was okay before he'd walk away.
