Hawkbite is sick of the back-to-back requests for challenges.
Is everyone antsy? Has there not been enough action to amuse them?!
He's not sure.
So, he approached Dawnstar and asked for a mass challenge event, who approved as long as she remained involved.
Here's your chance to speak up and try to challenge anyone on the Enforcer team.
HAZYCRY V NEWTBELLY:
1. Hawkbite requires claws be unsheathed.
2. Hawkbite allows dirty moves.
3. Winning does not guarantee you keep/get the rank. Dawnstar has the final say in that decision and Hawkbite will voice his opinion on the matter.
4. Hawkbite will step in if he believes the fight will result in a death or serious injuries. He will not tolerate life-altering injuries!
5. No one can step into the fight. Doing so will result in punishment and getting booted by any of the Enforcers present.
6. Spectators of any age are welcome to watch! Kits will need monitored closely by a warrior and if things get too rough, they will be escorted away.
IF YOU WANT TO CHALLENGE
This is the only time you are required to mention Undertaker.
Dawnstar must hear who you want to challenge and your reasoning.
Once approved, Hawkbite will place you into the lineup.
There is ONE open position, which is public knowledge, that anyone is welcome to argue why they should fill it.
Read the [Regulations] before you challenge!
Make sure you can abide by them, or you won't last long on the team.
Hawkbite's position is off limits as per regulations, be he'll take challenges.
Apprentices cannot challenge, but you're welcome to argue why you should fill the empty Enforcer position.

The yowl that escaped him as he left Dawnstar's den was filled with annoyance but purpose. It was time to settle the issue. It was time to stop dealing with wasting time and energy on challenges that seem like are happening every week. One time and done or forever hold their peace. If they were too cowardly to challenge right now, then he didn't think they should be allowed to challenge within the next moon or two.
"Hazycry has challenged Newtbelly for his Enforcer position," Hawkbite would begin as cats started to crowd around him. They didn't know that Tuftedtusk was the original challenge before his demotion, but they didn't need to. "Same rules apply. You don't step in, you don't get a say in how it's run, kits will be escorted away if this gets out of hand, and you will be kicked to your nest if you break any of those rules," he warned, his tail flicking as he eyed everyone.
"This time we're doing things a little differently," Hawkbite continued, starting to pace a little in front of the crowd. "Since everyone seems so keen on challenging the Enforcers, we're opening up public judgement and challenges right now. If you want to challenge anyone, step forward and state who and your reasoning for why you'd be a better candidate," Hawkbite would finish. He'd finally settle into a spot, sitting near Dawnstar -- who had probably come to join at this point. He waited for anyone to make the first move and waited for Newtbelly and Hazycry to show up.
You have until May 18th to speak up for a challenge.

did hawkbite loathe her? was she supposed to let that slide? yes she was. the fallout wasnt worth the argument. she wasnt going to start a fight for no reason. the upcoming brawl was going to have begun for a reason, a strong one.
perhaps this challenge was a plea for help. perhaps she needed solace, a finality she would never have. she padded after the commander, muscles almost rippling in anticipation. as cats in the clearing looked at her, she kept her gaze locked in front of her to avoid suspicion, her eyes would appear blind to all but a select few. her maw split, tongue sweeping across it, a call for a fight.
the battle would likely come to a draw, newtbelly had done this for seasons, and she was but a fresh warrior. she could only pray that her grandmother saw enough in her to promote her to enforcer. i've been working my ass off. she bitterly pondered.
the vivid memory of her great-grandmother plagued her mind. "Hmm, well, you have been working hard. I can't say you've made much of a name for yourself either, but I can see you're trying, which is better than sulking."
that is what her grandmother had said to her. hazycry was no stranger to fury. papa cougarbite, hawkpaw, all the rest of her siblings, why was she the only one to reach warriorhood? the haze of her mind consumed her.
she almost let out a soft growl when hawkbite called out, asking if anyone else wished to challenge an enforcer for their rank. this was supposed to be her time to shine, not some other rat. she didnt let her displeasure show on her face, however. she closed her eyes and let the sounds of the gathering cats envelop her before she flicked them open again, and turned her head towards newtbelly . "greetings"

Newtbelly was having a good stretch in the clearing. He reckoned he'd head out on a hunt, in a minute. Grab three or four pieces of prey for the clan, and hopefully, if he was lucky, a tasty frog or toad for himself. A large yawn escaped him as he stretched his forepaws outward -
Then, all peace was broken. A yell from Hawkbite. Oh. Shoot. He knew exactly what was coming, and he wasn't excited. He'd been wating for this. Planning, hoping, stressing. He was the youngest enforcer - well, maybe the youngest - he didn't actually know how old Rookfire was - besides the point though! As he was definitely the least experienced. Owlthroat's recent words had soothed his worries a little, but certainly not enough. His worries wouldn't be soothed until he knew exactly what was happening, and when, and where. Rookfire's challenge had opened his eyes to just how probable a challenge would be, and the whole situation had knocked his confidence by a mile.
Who could it be? If it were a new warrior, he felt he had nothing to worry about. Maybe... Magpiecove? She'd always been gutsy, and they'd clashed on patrol when he was younger. No no no, she may be gutsy, but she wouldn't do this. Maybe Tuftedtusk wanted his rank back, stat? Oh stars, Tuftedtusk could crush him with one paw! Or, perhaps Roachflare had silently been eying up the rank, and Newtbelly had failed to notice? Or Rockjaw, even! Those were only a few options among many. His heart was already beating faster as he ran through cat after cat - he gulped down his stresses as best he could, sitting nicely as he awaited Hawkbite's next words.

Wait, what?...Hazycry ? ... Hazycry?! He released most of his tenseness, breathing deeply in attempts to bring his heart rate back down. Now that was the last challenger he was expecting. He raised an eyebrow, chin lifting as he tried to spot her. He'd spoken to her once, maybe? He'd grabbed her for a hunt once, he couldn't recall who else was there. The patrol never came back properly. They all kind wandered off on their own ways. His fault for not having more authority, really. Perhaps that's what sparked this challenge?
He'd gone over potential challenges over and over and over, and not once had he imagined her crawling out of the woodwork. You know what... He was actually offended! He almost wanted to laugh, but he figured that would be unprofessional - plus, irritation and anger was beginning to boil his blood far too much for that. Just as his brain was whirring, coming to an understanding with what was actually happening right now, Hawkbite continued. Multiple challenges? Probably a good thing, Hazycry would have less attention on her when she got beat into tomorrow. Life's little mercies, he thought to himself.
With him already on the chopping block, that only left Owlthroat, Rookfire and Briarsplash. Anyone that challenged either of the first two, after observing their most recent battle had to have bees for brains. And to challenge Briarsplash? Nothing but rats. Of course, he knew the result depended on Dawnstar, Hawkbite, and the whole rest of the clan's opinion - however, to him, the fight itself was just as important, if not more important, than its result. After all, who would want to be beaten up for all to see? It's basically a public display of weakness. He couldn't imagine anything worse.
Ugh, now this was distracting him! He shook his head from side to side, trying to regain focus. He had his own thing to deal with. You know what, actually, maybe he was a little thankful to Hazycry for challenging him, so none of the others could. If it were anyone else, say, Flytail, or, stars forbid Fernsmoke (who'd already beat his butt) he'd be screwed. But - but - at least a challenge from either of those two wouldn't feel like an insult! They had ground to stand on! Honestly, the gall. He groaned, clambering to his paws. Claws dug into the dirt below - emotions were setting in quickly. Good ones, though. Anger. The perfect driver for success.
He skulked on over, his walk a little tenser than usual as he approached Hazycry, who's... eyes were closed? We all do different things, to focus, he supposed. Then, they flickered open. When he saw her eyes, he noticed they were cloudy. He hadn't paid much attention to that last time they spoke, but it seemed she was blind. Not that it mattered. He knew better than to underestimate a cat based on disability. If anything, it probably meant her hearing was far keener than your average cat's. He'd need to keep that in mind.
The estimate he would make, however, was regarding her level of experience. She was younger than he. Not by a particularly high number of moons, just.... A considerable number. ShadowClan had been peaceful for the majority of his warriorhood. It wasn't likely she'd ever seen a proper fight, aside from the snakes and rats. Newtbelly hadn't either, bar a fox. But, a fox was far more cat-like than a snake. And, of course, he saw Owlthroat's quality of training as a cut above the rest.
Greetings - hah! Oh, how he wished he could retort with something horrible and snippy, but his fear of authority - no, that wasn't right - his fear of the opinions of said authority, wouldn't allow for it. So, he simply eyed her, irritation quite clear on his face. "Greetings, Hazycry." Oh yes, the tone was mocking. He couldn't help it.

FINALLY, something new and exciting! An Enforcer challenge was hardly new, since everyone and their mother appeared to want to be Enforcers, but what Hawkbite said after the announcement was very interesting. The grey tabby slid off the branch she was snoozing on, dropping in amongst the crowd that was beginning to gather. Well well well, several cats had already stated interest in the challenge. Birdecho found it incredibly amusing how everyone had forgotten about the original challenge. Newtfella and Hazywhatever--yeah okay sure man. Birdecho was more interested in the randos who thought they deserved the position.
Say, that was an idea. What if she challenged someone? But who?
"I would like to challenge Rookfire--no offense, old man." The young molly called to the older tom, her wide amber eyes alight with excitement. "It's no fun if I don't get to fight someone over it, and you were the first one I saw."
Birdecho locked eyes with her grandmother, the playful, irreverent glint in her eye never fading. "The Enforcers have been The Grump Club for sooo long, Grandmother. I could bring some much needed levity to their sourpuss faces--and being an Enforcer would probably keep me out of trouble~" Birdecho glanced toward the medicine den to see if Sleepysunrise was there, the scars on her legs and flank stinging from the reminder of her sister's claws. There were no hard feelings between them, but Birdecho knew she needed something to keep her occupied--to keep her from thinking about Mama, trapped in the StarCave, definitely dead by now--and why, she's always been super mature and super responsible, so there should be no problem! Haha, she made herself giggle sometimes. There was a better than average chance Grandmother would just say no and that would be the end of it, but if Birdecho was allowed to compete, how fun would that be! "And besides, what kind of daughter to Lostspark would I be if I didn't try for Enforcer at least once, ya know?" Her mama had been an Enforcer both before and after her time as medicine cat; it only felt right. "Even if I lose." She shrugged.
The proposal was odd, if you asked her. It wasn't like they had that many Enforcer challenges since she first made the rank, but Hawkbite was acting like an old biddy with how he wanted to deal with all the challenges in one swoop. She couldn't come up with a good reason not to do it, and she was somewhat interested in who'd be taking up the challenge. So why not allow it? It might have been funny to say no to irritate Hawkbiddy, but alas, she'd be playing a dangerous game with her paranoia if she did.
The Queen of Mean trails out behind the Commander moments after he calls the clan together. She had thought that this challenge wouldn't be happening after she heard that Tuftedtusk had failed his patrol. Dawnstar couldn't have her elite Enforcers failing something as simple as patrols. They were simple duties and easy to do. So naturally, she had him booted from the Enforcers altogether.
When Hazycry returned and asked to challenge Newtbelly instead, it was hard to say no to that. It wasn't like he was putting in any more work than Tuftedtusk was. Dawnstar would admit that she wasn't invested in this fight as she had been with Rookfire and Owlthroat. Hazycry, though she had nothing outstanding to stand on, wanted to prove herself and Newtbelly... well, actually, she wasn't sure what motivated Newtbelly. Maybe he just liked the power that came with the rank, who knows?
The clan leader sat down beside Hawkbite, praying he wasn't swarmed by cats like last time. She'd have to endure -EW- socializing. Just thinking about it made her want to go inside her den and nap. The enormous dark tabby turned her head and gave the newest clanmate, Deerclaw, a cold side eye.
"No." Her growl rumbles like thunder within her chest, final. She's heard that he was running his mouth and testing Rookfire. He had way too much to learn and was sosososo far from Enforcer material that it was laughable that he even spoke up.
"You need to learn your place and quickly, Deerclaw, lest I have to remind you of it." She was not happy hearing about him pestering Rookfire. He had better learn to keep his head down lest she decide to remove it from his shoulders.
"You, do not waste my time with your nonsense." She didn't even pay any attention to Wildflame's comment. If all he was looking for was a fight, he could go play with a fox. She tosses a glance at Hawkbiddy with a deep scowl. She's been here for three minutes, and she already has complete fools begging for a fight. If this was the whole challenge going to go, she was going to end up fighting him here and now, humiliating him, and letting off steam sounded fantastic by now.
Birdecho's voice called her attention, and Dawnstar lashed her tail. "Rookfire just finished a challenge, and if you put in the work, Granddaughter, instead of getting into trouble, you could earn yourself a rank among the Enforcers without needing to challenge them if you truly wanted to follow in your mother's paw steps." Dawnstar reasoned with a lash of her tail. Now that she thought about it, she did only have three other Enforcers to challenge. It was unlikely she'd accept any challenges to Rookfire or Owlthroat's positions with how recently they fought. Cats could come for Briarsplash's rank with a good enough reason, but that didn't make things much fun.
She didn't want to just swap out her Enforcers because the cats wanted to fight. Hmm, perhaps she should have put more thought into this before accepting the proposal. But she only had four Enforcers, excluding Hawkbite. An additional three would be nice to add to the team.
"Hawkbite, I've changed my mind. Let's make this a bit more entertaining. I want to play. Unless Mistlewhisker wants to play too, I'll take on any challenger I deem fit who wants a shot at the Enforcer rank. If they can impress me in battle, I'll let them join the Enforcer. You can toss them out later if they prove to be ill-fitted." She suggested.
A fight with her would naturally earn a spot among the Enforcers, if they were interested. Her experience and ruthlessness in battle put her on a level no one in ShadowClan could compete with. She had no doubts that she was the strongest fighter in ShadowClan. But it'd be fun to prove it. She'd get her blood pumping, maybe some new scars, and her clan might get some new Enforcers; it was a win-win if you asked her.

"ah...as I thought, I am no enforcer material" he chuckled awkwardly as he backed away, at least he could watch the fight. he went to sit beside his mother "well, that just wounded my pride" he laughed gently, yes that hurt but he was shadowclan, this was meant to hurt "ugh...I cant stand that outsider smell..." he whispered to his mother "he smells horrible and I swear he has fleas. "ya ain't made for that job anywho. ya too soft on others, show some claws now ya words" she hissed as her son who lowered his head in shame "and bout tis outsider, I wanna give em a piece of my mind, smellin up the place n bein disrespectful, dawnstar outta rip his throat out" she spoke loudly, not caring if Deerclaw heard her "if he talk ta me the way he spoke ta rookfire, I woulda tore that smart tongue out right then and there" she grumbled, giving his paws a good grooming. ｡.｡:+*
Now that was something that sent a flare of excitement coursing through her veins. Her sharp eyes gleamed with a fiery determination as she padded forward, ears perked.
"I'm in. I challenge you dawnstar." She said, her voice carrying an intense weight of what she had just said. The witch knew exactly what she was doing. She was challenging the queen of mean herself, and stars above she was thrusting with excitement to do so. "I believe I can push myself further, and I'd relish the chance sparing with you." She said sternly.
The lean, tall molly stood earnestly before the clan, before dawnstar. She was going to prive herself that was for damn sure. Hell, even if she wasn't accepted into the enforcers fold, she was going to proven to everyone, to herself, that she was apart of something better, and that she had what it took.
"If I were to challenge an Enforcer, I would choose Briarsplash. She is a good Enforcer and keeps up with her patrols- but I believe she lacks in going the extra taillength." ➢ If Hollowhawk was being honest, she had been laying around do absolutely nothing, Honeyhowl had been a good companion for the mean time and this…this was going to be fun. The Warrior keeps an eye on her “Father”, his every word forever able to keep her attention, no matter the reason. Her gaze drops to the floor as the whole ordeal processes in her head. Then sudden, she hears two voices. They are annoying as hell and this thing hasn’t even begun. Complaining about an outsider…how embarrassing. Nothing a public humiliation couldn’t fix. The Warrior keeps the smile on her face to a reduced grin, nodding to her former Mentor if he said something to their out of character actions. She would gladly get kicked out of the event to defend a Clanmate. That’s called the bare minimum, respect following shortly after.

Fishbite looked up and walked over giving a brief nod in greeting towards her dad as she sat down to hear the rules, and to hear the chance of well just about anyone fighting anyone. Fishbite sat back to think, she could challenge another cat, but why would she? What makes her worthy of being an enforcer, what makes her worthy enough to challenge another. Fishbite thought about it, replaying rephrasing words in her mind to make a good argument for herself before she stood up with a sigh I would like to fight for a chance to prove myself, Im not the most active camp, but I am here, I want to be an enforcer to help my clan, and be someone a cat can look up to, I want to prove that despite my past MIstakes I can be worth something more, and even if you say no or i dont become an enforcer shadowclan will always have my heart and will always be the first thing i fight for. she said turning to dawnstar her eyes locked onto the brown molly If permitted i would like to fight my father she said finally heart beating fast, her heart was beating fast Man, how long can she make this last? fishbite was not expecting an easy fight if she was allowed to fight, and she was fine with that.
