Primroseadder was resting beside the entrance to the nursery, watching as her kits—now three moons old—played. They would be apprentices in a moon or two, she thought, her emerald eyes glittering with love and admiration. She glanced over at Freezingfury, who sat beside her (perms granted via star on discord). “They’re growin’ up so fast, aren’t they?”

The queen looked over as movement caught in her peripheral vision. “Oh, hello!” She called out, voice friendly. “Ya must be Vervainshadow. Owlstar announced your joinin’ ta the Clan at the last meetin’.”

Freezingfury smiled warmly at Primroseadder, his fur pressed against hers. They've had their ups and downs, but their kits were thriving now. He didn't quite pay attention to his mother, who had given birth to 11 kittens. Crazy. But she had little ones to take care of, and he didn't want to bother anyone.

"They really are." He murmured with a low purr. He turned at the same time Primroseadder did, pale eyes fixing on his mother. He flashed her a smile, before turning his attention back to Primroseadder.

Vervainshadow looked to the direction of a voice saying her name, ears perking. It was... Not anyone she recognised... But her son. Her son, her precious little Arcturus sat comfortable beside the queen.

"Hello there, yes, that is me. It's nice to meet you, truly," Vervainshadow replied with a friendly nod. She then turned a playful, narrow-eyed gaze at Freezingfury. "Sooo, darlin', aren't you going to tell me who this gorgeous she-cat is?" She cooed, earning a nervous chuckle from Freezingfury.

Primroseadder’s ears perked up. Vervainshadow didn’t know who she was? The queen put a paw to her chest, flashing Freezingfury a look of mock offense, as if saying, You haven’t introduced me to your mother yet?

Then, an idea popped up in her mind. She’d get him back for that.

“Why, ‘m the mother of his kits, of course!” Primroseadder turned back to Vervainshadow, grinning. She gestured to where her kits were playing with her tail. “Stormkit went missin’, but the other four are still here ‘n are playin’. Owls—er, Owlkit—is the one who looks most like Freezin’fury. Cypresskit is the biggest, Brightkit is the smallest, ‘n Caterpillarkit is the one that looks more similar ta me.”

Freezingfury momentarily panicked. His eyes widened and he looked from Primroseadder to Vervainshadow, a nervous flickering brewing within them. He hadn't thought to introduce anyone to anyone. It was just... Not how he did things.

Vervainshadow blinked, her gaze almost mirroring Freeingfury's. Her baby boy had kits now? Was she dreaming? She was a grandmother? The large she-cat leaned down to gently touch her nose to one of Primroseadder's ears, purring loudly.

"Are you, now? That's amazing! Not sure why he never thought to tell me. But my Arcturus has always been one to be secretive, it's no surprise." She laughed, earning a low growl from said son. Her attention turned to the kits. Her grandchildren. She made sure not to shine light on the missing kit. She knew what it was like to lose a child, and it had torn her apart. "They certainly do resemble my lil' one. I've never noticed... Being so occupied by my own kits. That being said,,, you'll come visit your brothers and sisters, right Artie?"

"Sure mum." Freezingfury muttered, but it held a lighthearted and affectionate tone. He wasn't used to... Well, seeing his mother again after so long. "Prim, why don't you, er- say more than just 'the mother of his kits'? Surely you must be done giving my mother a heart attack."

Primroseadder laughed at Freezingfury’s comment. “Yeah, yeah…I know, Fury,” the queen winked at him before turning her gaze back to his mother. “The name’s Primroseadder. It’s nice ta meet ya, Vervainshadow.”
