Default Me, myself and I. [Private/Practice-rp]

(This thread will be used for practice roleplaying / solo roleplaying as “The Recluse” / catfish chirp. I may post here occasionally just to test how i want to write his posts or try a new writing style. )

"The recluse."
CATFISH CHIRP
He/Him - Warrior - Shadowclan
Mind Reader

The sun picked its way up from the tree’s and the hills that hid it ever so well from sight during the night, each second it spent clawing its way above the tree’s bristly leaf-coverage it sent sprawling showers of sunlight upon everything below. He stirred to the scent of morning and pine-needles, the sunlight breaching the warriors den and pouring through with its ever so obvious want to be noticed and commented on. Clearly even the sunlight managed to bug him- as if it were a feline right before him dragging him into yet another conversation. Stretching out he found himself sluggish, all his social battery had been drained by the long draw of the day before and the day before that.

And every day prior.

It took only for as long as he stretched for The Recluse to think upon what he wanted to do today, a quiet hunt and a peaceful relaxation in the territory should refresh him (and his ability to tolerate those who tug him into conversation for a little bit longer). He unfortunately had to include his siblings in this distaste for others, the two were not overwhelmingly noisy or anything quite like those catfish found insufferable but still managed to ebb away at his energy either way. Catfish slumped down against a warmed stone- showing the sun managed to provide something useful to him other than a glare and flash of light for once, he worked at his scruffy fur although barely put much effort in. He held no plans to seem collected today anyhow. The start of the day held a polite quietness as if acknowledgments had been made of his exhaustion which made it easier for Catfish to impulsively leave on a lengthy hunt and perhaps dwindle in the sunshine well it still remained there. The idea of resting upon his side in a well lit and only prey-stirred area was immensely appealing and the need to sit down and fuss meaninglessly over his fur quickly evaporated.

Clambering over the sloped exit out of camp he flicked out his paws and glanced around, the air held a MUCH more clear taint of pine and prey, which was clearly running well- despite the early awakening he still found plenty of prey-scents to pursue. Catfish sighed slowly and then began to trek further from camp, although there were prey scents here it would be against what the whole “take a lot of time on a hunt to catch your breath” or whatever this was. As he made his further away from camp the usual eerie shroud of darkness- with few light to split it apart- meant it was going to be much easier to take a longer stretch of time out of camp unnoticed this way. Should he hunt first or after the break?.. probably after. This whole thing was seeming more deserting of his clan by the second, he visibly shuddered at such a thought. Taking a little break outside of camp might not be so wise when there was the chance of being caught the moment patrols started going out. Then he would have a thing to worry about. He froze in hiding tracks and idled.

He probably didn’t deserve this whole long break anyway. What kind of warrior struggled to tolerate small conversation? A few more forced chit chats wouldn’t hurt. Very very long chitchat that ended up in awkward silence so he had something to stew over the moment others mived away. Very very long chitchat that drained his other-cat tolerance to the ground. Usually he lied every second of a conversation but that was slipping as he grew more tired from the day. Perhaps lying was a much nicer thing if it lead him to much less conversations before everything got so exhausting. Additionally as a kit he was told to ‘bite your tongue!’ quite often when he spilled out the truth. He shuddered back into motion from his thoughts and his paws moved along before he slumped down just under a tree, the shadow was cool and a nice break from the glare of the sun- how could windclan tolerate a tree-barren territory? It drove him crazy just having sunlight flash over his den and face in the morning like a sudden switch from night to day. For a feline who planned so confidently the day ahead in their waking thoughts he misjudged his own want to head out of camp so impulsively. He tensed and rose back to his paws, starting to trek back. Without prey to show for it? Really?

He was quick to part his jaws and drink in the scents in the air better, blinking as he caught the scent of a mouse, close by too, somewhere ahead of him. He skunk into a hunter’s crouch and moved carefully through the shadows blinking as he closed the distance between him and the rodent, it seemed to be oblivious busily munching away on a seed from the ground.. tensing he leapt at it trying to judge the distance properly before landing upon it and nipping its neck. Now to head back and get this prey piece on the pile..

Default Re: Me, myself and I. [Private/Practice-rp]

(The following is a quick role-play between tickpaw and catfish chirp to make sure i dont forgot about either of them and to try remember how i used to roleplay tickpaw )

"The recluse."
CATFISH CHIRP
He/Him - Warrior - Shadowclan
Mind Reader | Agatha kitty | Heightened perception (hearing)
Catfish chirp glanced over the clearing, unlike like the occasional time where there would only be few cats around there were actually none- from what he could pick up. Blinking he sluggishly drew himself from his typical spot (in the corner of camp in a shaded area) and initially began to make his way to the warriors den. He squeezed his eyes shut for a moment trying to shoo away the drumming headache that had come upon him with the uttermost maliciousness. Stars, he could have just stayed asleep rather than having to drag himself around - a green blurr caught his attention. For a cat with such keen attention to detail he also (unfortunately) struggled to see things that were further than a fox length yet he swore he’d seen something amongst the shadowy corners not too far from him.. He squinted desperately trying to piece together an image.. A flick of orange was all he needed to confirm what he’d seen wasn’t a trick of the light. There was somecat staring him down.

Now that he’d established he wasn’t seeing things CatfishChirp struggled to find out how to approach this situation, usually he was the one accidentally making conversation or staring without meaning to so it was disturbing to have it happen the other way around. As he moved closer he could definitely see the feline, bright ginger at that. Confront them? Argue with them? Neither seemed Catfish’s preferred way of going about this, nor did it particularly bother him apart from that he would now have to do something since he’d moved closer. In his indecision there was a silent and unbroken eye contact where he was stewing over what to say next, what to do. He parted his jaws to speak and when he finally drew out noise it was incredibly spaced out as it usually was, but less in thought than it was in a lack of reassurance. “You..were… staring.. at me. Why?”

It took him just as long as it took him to talk to notice- but there was something familiar about this one.. not in the appearance but he sworee that there was a rumour around them. There must be one somewhere atleast. He scraped every corner of his memory yet nothing came up, not even their name, hopefully the searching gaze had passed off as but another attempt to see them clearly. He slumped into a sit and drew his tail around his side, with no intention on leaving until he got some clear answers. Catfish was not exactly keen on being watched without his knowing. Especially not when he could have easily been caught sputtering out rumours, which put him most indefinitely at risk of being tattled on. He could tell they were an apprentice and had been sitting there for quite some time just from the guilty expression upon their face and their smaller stature. But even an apprentice should know better.

(Okay writing tickpaws response, this post was slightly out of character for catfish since he probably wouldn’t care about being stared at but uhm.. as long as i get to figure out how to write tickpaw again its okay )

[Tick Paw]
[Purrks- Bewitched/Constant Hunger-Chill of Death-Shadow Fiend-Lyrebirds Lullaby]
[He Him] - [Shadowclan Apprentice] - [8 Moons]

After what felt like an age of being lost and alone in the territory he couldn’t help but remain frozen on the spot in a shadow of the camp. He’d been watching anycat that passed him as they seemed completely oblivious to his return, of course he didn’t want to be seen but there hadn’t been a single word of concern and he was sure of it. He had hardly noticed the clearing emptying, hardly noticed the way his claws unsheathed and pulled at the dirt underpaw. What he did notice was a prey-cat in the clearing nestled in a shadowed corner just like he was, although they were much poorer at hiding their presence. He hadn’t seen them move much, so they must be lazing around. Although, technically TickPaw was too. But, on the other paw he had nothing to do whatsoever. He struggled to catch the moment where he started staring- more caught up in his own thoughts than actually intending it yet occasionally he tried to pull his gaze away, like usual he failed.Something he had noticed around was that there was an ever-clear lack of his mother, he had prepared for the cold scolding and seething tone that usually arrived when he was late or absent. He’d even took the time to wait for it to happen and yet she seemed to be.. gone absent herself. Mother had disappeared before, returning as if she were never gone of course but from what he could tell there wasnt even the faintest trace of her, had she looked for him and gotten lost? No, no that was utterly ridiculous. Mother did not get lost because she was not a prey cat. He was sure this was.. a test. Of some sort.

Oh. He was still staring. Tickpaw shuddered as he felt a wave of embarrassment pass over him, although he could never have missed the moment the cat he was watching noticed him. Their gaze bore into his and he shifted with the uttermost discomfort, it seemed they were squinting at him- poor vision? It was a wonder how they were the only one to notice him sitting right here of all those who passed by. And suddenly they were moving. Moving towards him. TickPaw tensed eyes now rounded as he prepared for a scolding, he’d been caught staring like this before (mostly by mother) but this cat couldn’t possibly scold him, not a preycat like this one, certainly. Although unfortunately they were still a warrior and still had authority.. As the distance closed between them he took in the judging stare. Despite his clear dislike for this one already Tickpaw collected himself and his face was creased by false guilt as he lowered his head and gaze, but not after a moment of eye contact that seemed to stretch a lifetime. When they finally spoke he twitched his ears, were they afraid of him? That was the only reason he could muster to the slow-speaking. He didn’t know anycat that was afraid of him.

Regardless he began to answer, to offer an explanation. “I am terribly sorry about my staring. It won’t happen again.” he held his gaze on them, his words were lacking in any remorse. This cat was no better than him yet he could not say such out loud. “I was simply lost in thought, there was no intention to stare.” He was sure that if he lied just enough he could worm his way from this talk and go out to do some actual work. He was sure there were other places for him to be outside of here talking to this preycat.

(Guh i need to refer to his old posts from now on.. did not like writing this )
