Lilacbird rushed out of the nursery. A heartbeat passed before she was back again, holding a sturdy stick in her jaws. She laid it in front of Petalwater. "Who's your mate?" she asked. "Should I go get him?"

Petalwater froze. Lilacbird didn't mean harm, but...there was no mate. She'd come into this clan as a loner named Petal, and Feather...he wasn't there. He wasn't coming. He loved her and wanted to love the kits but it wasn't going to work out. He just didn't want to join the clan. He did have friends (or relatives, she wasn't really sure) in WindClan, which is why she'd wanted to join it so bad.

"Ahhh..." she groaned, feeling the second kit at the exit. "He's...not coming" she gritted out. With a push and a yowl, the second kit came sliding out and she started licking it with relief.

"Okay," mewed Lilacbird. That wasn't a problem. She knew some cats didn't have mates. Luckily, she had one, and he was the best. "What are you going to name your kits? They're so cute!" Dropping her voice, she leaned in closer to the she-cat. "Is he a rogue? You used to be one, right?" As not to be intrusive, she then stepped back to give Petalwater some room.

"Yes...he's a barn cat." Petalwater gasped for breath. "There's another one coming!" The stick between her jaws cracked with force as she pushed the last kit out, sides heaving.

"They're beautiful, Petalwater..." said Lilacbird. Three healthy kits. Lilacbird hoped all her kits would be alive and okay too. @Craneflight

"Now it's time to name them." Petalwater said. The first kit was white with some brown patches and a couple gray ones shaped like bugs. The second kit was cream colorpoint with sparkling periwinkle blue eyes. The third was a silver tabby.

"I really want to call the first one Millipedekit." Petalwater mewed. "I had a sister named Millipede who died young. We all called her Millie, or Mills. The second can be Periwinklekit, because of the color of her eyes. The third...hmmm. Do you have any ideas?"

Robinflight stretched and shook her pelt out. Within a moment, Cardinalkit and Crowkit were complaining loudly as she groomed them both to wakefulness.

No sleeping in, today. They were about old enough to try some mouse for the first time.

"She looks like she'll serve up a wave of trouble! Maybe Ripplekit?" said Lilacbird, helping Petalwater to clean the kits.

Maplekit, ears slightly flattened against his head, hesitated at the prey in front of him. He wasn't ready to give up queen's milk yet, he would miss the warm, comfort, and security that came with it, Plus, it was his favorite! He didn't want anything else. He whimpered softly, curling in on himself in his nest slightly as he did so. He shook his head slightly

The queen sitting patiently in front of his nest only let out a soft sigh at his reluctance, and slightly nudged the vole closer to him.
