rookfires remaining ear twitched, unsure of what to do or how to react as discomfort crawled up his spine. he hadnt pulled out stories from his childhood for pity or to be told how great he did, he didnt want the praise, didnt want the pity. fierceness shouldnt be praised, it should be expected. he had no choice, this was his path, it had always been.

briefly lost in thought, rookfire was only pulled back to reality when bleedingpaw continued speaking. his eyes focussed back on the apprentice and he almost had to hold back a laugh when the younger tom mentioned riverclan not being grateful for his work. "mmh i recon if fadingsun were still alive he would'a felt bad for choosing a cat that ended up going missing after two moons." he huffed, rolling his eyes with a sharp grin. mistywhatever was a particularly bitter memory. not only because she had unrightfully replaced him and never suffered the consequences like cobwebfern had via her betrayal but because she was nice. she had lazed around for thirty five moons before her starsdamned close friend became leader. really, they shouldve questioned her skills in general.

"they were within their right to..ah. avenge their apprentice, it was a raid on riverclan after all" rook shrugged, "you know, quite peculiar, they had the same name as my mother" now why did you have to say that rook? first you get the poor kid to pity you and now youre pulling the dead family card as well? tz tz tz.

luckily, bleedingpaw had not forgotten about the herbs yet and remained curious about juniper berries.

"mmh internal issues are usually treated by consumption n pastes for outwards injuries...juniper berries can be eaten or applied in a paste for the different uses, yes." he hummed, angular head tipped in quiet confirmation.

"lavender is rarely used for warriors, simply because they have more control of their emotions than kits or young apprentices n i suppose theyd need quite a bit, but if enough lavender is around it could at the very least take their mind off of their loss." a shrug, he had never really had to think about it that way. the last proper funeral he had attended was during..less that pleasant times. they couldnt take the time to gather lavender n all. after that, two more, if he remembered. but those were moreso burying a body than proper funerals.

Stars Bleedingpaw wasnt even certain what'd happened to Fadingsun, those riverclan leaders went by so quickly it was hard to care when he struggled to even remember which was leading at any given moment. Pathetic.


The little bit of chance caused him to cock his head, curious and muse "Life is full of ironies like that if I know anything about it..." dwelling on the many he'd already encountered. Honestly he didnt want to talk about family at the moment, still pained by his Mama's death so wasnt going to bring it up unless Rookfire was. Maybe at a later time.




Bleedingpaw supposed the logic of where the herbs went to treat different injuries made sense, and he nodded in quiet conformation but quickly snorted at the next part.
"Sure warriors are supposed to be in control of themselves but forgive my bluntness, Ive seen far too many act worse then kits." The lack of maturity was disgusting at times.



Bowing his head a bit in thanks (an odd motion given it involuntarily bobbled around as he did) the tom mewed a "Well thank you for teaching me all this. I dont think Ill ever be the kind of cat who belongs in healing as you or my Mama do but... Well I feel closer to her now with this. Thank you deeply Rookfire, I really appreciate it." It soothed a part of the tom that still ached for Lostspark (A part he'd soon grow to hate when he learned the truth) and for all he didnt want to be a healer of any sort with all the various scrapes he was constantly getting he knew he'd use it at some point. Hell even now he had a skinned paw from a fall and a small cut on his back, nothing serious but still ever present.


Before he went though after exchanging farewells to let Rookfire go back to his duties the tom hesitated, doubling back. "Actually Im sorry to bother but might I ask one more bit of knowledge from you? After a sibling Smokekit died eating a deathberry in the medicine cats den Mama lectured all of us on poisons so she wouldnt loose another kit, however she never taught any herbs to treat poisoning. If... If its not to big an issue would you be alright sharing something along that line please? Its no big issue but... Well now that Im thinking on it the memory lingers." Smokekits death and funeral had been Bleedingpaws first meeting with most of his family and siblings, an event that had tainted much even now.
