How did he get put with two apprentices on a patrol? stars above was he cursed?! Okay probably- most likely- Redwillow grumbled under his breath about starclan knows what. The small russet tom padded quickly, not caring to see whether the two apprentice could keep up, if they couldn't, that was on them.

Squirrelpaw could run. It was the only thing she was good at. The only thing was, she wasn't very agile. So, as trees and roots appeared, they slowed her down. For the most part, though, she could keep up with Redwillow. After a while, anger boiled inside of her, and she felt like she could just scream. And so she did. She screamed with all her might, and slowed to a stop. Stop! Stop! You're going to fast! She yowled, frustration knotting in her head.

Heatherpaw glanced back at Squirrelpaw, then back at Redwillow. "Redwillow, Squirrelpaw's right. You're going too fast. At this rate, we'll miss the celandine and come back empty pawed." she mewed. Heatherpaw may have been fast and agile, but she didn't want to just leave Squirrelpaw in the dust.

"Well, I can keep up, but Squirrelpaw tripped. Heatherpaw said. "Squirrelpaw, are you okay?" Some cats really hate apprentices...she thought. Well, just because I'm young doesn't mean I'm not capable! And I care about Squirrelpaw, even if I've never met her. Isn't that what being part of a clan is all about? Looking out for each other. She was so wrapped up in her thoughts that she didn't realize she said the last part out loud.

Squirrelpaw pouted and bit her lip, tears forming in the corners of her eyes. That's not fair. She grumbled, her chest aching as she held back tears. Then, she got up and stuck by Heatherpaw's side, glaring at Redwillow as she went past him. You're mean. She hissed, flicking her ear.

Redwillow glared at the two apprentices, raising a brow. "Donyou really think I care of I'm mean to you? not everything is sunshines and rainbows kid." He snorted, raising his neck and pointing a claw at an intense bite mark.."I was like you kid. Until I learned." He grunted and simply padded on. Squireelpaw reminded him of himself when he was young.. he didn't want her to learn the lesson that he did.. that not everyone was a friend..

Heatherpaw supposed Redwillow was right...they did need to learn that not everyone was their friend. But still, he'd made Squirrelpaw cry. Well, then again, Squirrelpaw was a moon younger and a bit immature...if she let her confidence be broken that easily it meant she couldn't have had much in the first place. Of course Heatherpaw was hurt too, she was just better at hiding it. Instead of crying out loud as a kit, she'd learned to do it on the inside. It was pretty much the only way to survive in the wild. She didn't want to be a kittypet after all.

She picked up the pace. The sooner they get the celandine, the sooner this patrol could be over. "Squirrelpaw, come on." she called over her shoulder. "We still need to find the celandine for Lightningstorm before it gets dark. And Redwillow, I don't care how you treat us, lets just be efficient, even if that means not talking to each other."
