| Lightningstorm | 28 Moons - WindClan Medicine Cat Flock Together [Tier 3] - Active | Mind Reader - Active | Dreamwalker - Inactive | Katty Krueger - Inactive
Fur usually glossy and well kept appeared dull and dusty, sticking out to all sides as an exhausted looking medicine cat exited the den beneath the Galewood, lapis hues lifeless as they closed in light of the yawn escaping the calico. It had been a stressful moon. No rest had been afforded to her, with barely any time to eat or take stock of her herb stores. As a result, her ribs were beginning to be plainly visible through her short coat and her herbs... well...
She needed to send patrols. There was no getting around that. With things how they were, Lightningstorm had a good mind to head out on her own. Find the herbs she needed and come back without having to risk exposing others to the twolegs beyond their camp walls. But she knew Twilightstar would be having none of that. She might have been a little more disposable before, with Rabbitpaw as her apprentice... but she was alone again. The leader would probably send the furies to pile on top of her rather than let her go out on a herb run herself. Disgruntledly, she had to admit she would probably do the same in her position, which left her searching around camp now.
Finding a familiar, eternally dusty pelt among the cats gathered, the herbalist called the tunneler's name, beckoning her forward with her tail as she managed the herbs she had brought up for display. Even when she showed cats the right herbs, they sometimes brought the wrong ones back... but it was still a better bet than describing them or leaving it all to chance, she supposed. Not only that, but Dustbunny had always been among the dependable warriors, and considering she needed roots right now, she could think of no one better than the tunneler and her two apprentices.
"Dustbunny. Good day for a- Oh for star's sake..." she paused, interrupted as a light drizzle of rain began pattering overhead, a pointed glare aimed at the sky before she sighed in defeat. The herbs needed to be gathered... maybe the rain would be a small blessing in disguise. Twolegs hated getting wet as much as they did, right? Stars above she hoped so...
"No helping that, I guess. Well... Piss poor day for a patrol, is clearly what I meant to say, innit? Unfortunately, with things as they have been, I'm running low on some essentials, and I have a feeling I'll be using loads more of these before this all gets resolved... for better or worse.
See this here? I'm fairly certain I've sent you out to gather these before, haven't I? Comfrey? This is the whole plant. Root and all! I would appreciate it if you could take Littlepaw and Fleetpaw out with you to Thunderglade in search of some. Heard from Crowtooth that the twolegs have been staying far away from the borders, and with the cover there, it might be easier to dig out the comfrey you find?"
Done with the assignment of the first patrol, Lightningstorm ignored the pattering rain as it soaked through her fur, grabbing one of the two chervil she had left. With all the pregnant she-cats in the nursery and the potential for injury, a herb that had so many uses such as this one was necessary. This one was also preferred with the roots, but gratefully the leaf was just as useful, if perhaps not as potent. She would take what she could get for now.
"Ashcloud!" she called, waving the chervil in the air as she motioned for him to come forward. Sure, the tom had ended up bringing so many bee stings last time she had sent him on patrol, he had been more stinger than cat... but at least she knew she could depend on him to come back. She needed cats like that with things as they were now.
"Sorry to send you off with this rain starting up, but I'm afraid with the territory being as it is... I trust you to come back in one piece is what it all boils down to, innit?" Lightningstorm mewed, offering a weak smile that didn't fully erase the exhaustion from her eyes. "This here is chervil. It's a bit of a wonder herb that would be extremely helpful for so many things right now... It's mostly found in Sunset Grove. If you could take Daywhisper and Ashpaw there and bring back a good amount, I would be proper grateful. Just... make sure there are no twolegs about. I don't think the grove is as filled to the brim with traps as the other places, so you should be safe. If it looks like trouble, get out before you get hurt. Any patrol that gets injured getting herbs will actively be hurting the herb storage more than they would be helping it with how things are right now."
Ashcloud
“Ugh.”
@seeingstars @TheRedWyvern sorry for the lateness! feel no need to respond to ash here, I'm going to @ y'all at the spot!!
Hearing his name and then a few other cats being called he knew what it was going to be about. It seemed like he was quite late but nothing to do for that now was there? Well other than getting the job done. A soft snicker came from the warrior. "Well seems like you are saving me from being Beecloud again with this rain. You are a real friend to me." It was a tiny jab at himself and her sending them out when it raining, but all in good humor. He was sure that the medcat would love it anyways, seemed up her alley. And if she wanted to consider him a friend, well that would be alright with the tom.
He then turned to his patrol mates. "Alright, sorry for my lateness but I am here now. Let's make this quick, and for the love of stars avoid anything that is grey and shiny. I have dealt two times in a row apprentice's being stolen by twolegs, if Ashpaw, you make it a third I'll be actually pissed." With that he simply turned around and started towards sunset grove.
Ashpaw nodded to the warrior. “Don’t worry, I’ll be careful.” It’s not as if he wanted to even approach one of those traps — he might’ve not seen one, there nonetheless weren’t a lot of shiny stuff in the territory, so he would recognise one right away. Or at least that’s what he hoped would happen. Starting to head to the sunset grove with Daywhisper and Ashcloud, the apprentice tried not to think about getting trapped and focused on finding chervil.
