Moss padded out the warriors den, his long ears twitching a little before coming out into the clearing and settling down his back pressing against a wall.
He curled his body up, shielding his skinny body from anything else.
His wide green eyes searched the clearing watching cats go by doing their daily stuff.
A young cat that admits their errors will become not a great warrior, but a kind one. And kindness is what the forest most needs right now, struck by wars and violence.
But "you're just an old, delusional cat, Thornbird," was what ey told emself, refocusing on the tangible present.
Ey sat down again, eir stance a tad less threatening. "You still did well, you knew how to improvise."
The large warrior meant it. After all, creativity can lead to unpredictability, and that is excellent for battles, for hunting, for a lot of things.
"There, let me show you two more," ey made a pause to look at Rookpaw in the eyes, then continued, "the leap-and-hold first."
That was a fairly simple attack but effective against a larger foe.
Thornbird continued the explanation. "You must jump on top of the enemy's back, out of their reach, to claw and bite. But be careful, if they roll over, you must get off them quickly."
That last part was a bit obvious, but easily forgotten, and it's not going to harm anyone to remind that. "Try leaping on top of that rock," and Thornbird pointed with eir tail at a boulder, two tail-lenghts tall. "If you can, I'm sure you'll be able to do that with any enemy."

She didn't know whether what her mentor said was genuine or ey was just trying to make her feel better, but she didn't care all that much. All she wanted was to learn and learn fast. So this time, Rookpaw listened carefully to her mentor and follow the instructions carefully. Leap and hold. And get off quickly incase they squash me. And the first step...Jump?
Okay. Simple, leap onto the rock.
So she did. The dusky lilac apprentice launched herself onto the rock and then looked down on her mentor. "And then what?"

Squirrelpaw led Rookpaw out of the apprentice's den and into the clearing. She didn't really know where she wanted to go, but she found a lush, open space where they could run and race. Dreamheart had said that running was her thing. And... It was the only thing she could really do well.

Rookpaw followed Squirrelpaw towards the clearing where there was a nice open space. Perhaps because she just came back to WindClan, she didn't know of this place, but it was cool, she guess. The dusky lilac apprentice followed behind her clanmate quietly, before glancing up at her, waiting for the next instruction. Patient. She told herself. Give Squirrelpaw a chance.
She wondered what Squirrelpaw would propose they do next.

Squirrelpaw let out a huff of frustration. Why couldn't she think? Do you wanna... Race? Or just run? She suggested, her heart racing and her cheeks swelling up with embarrassment.

She'd paused for a moment and glanced around. Lush green grass from the new-leaf rain was littered and growing in a few spotted areas. It was quite the open span of space, fit for a lot of things...running, training, or whatnot. Race. Would be cool, but not terribly fun, if both of them weren't competitive enough. Plus, they would need a larger stretch that could only be found outside the camp. So the dusky lilac apprentice decided and offered a suggestion. "Just run? We could play tag?"
Not an awful suggestion, but it could be a fun one. Not like Rookpaw knew much games to be played, but she did do her best to rummage her brain and think of some activity to do.

Thornbird. Ey/em - WindClan - Warrior.
She's nimble enough for this, as clear as pond water. Thornbird was sure Rookpaw would be able to do this well. "Excellent. That was to test if you'd be able to leap on top of an enemy." Unconventional method, but the results are right there.
The scarred enby gestured for Rookpaw to get off the boulder. "Now, last attack for now, if you want to spar after this, then sure."
Ey made a brief pause before continuing. "The last one is the belly rake. If your enemy pins you down, or you pin them down, slice their underelly with unsheathed claws."
Thornbird really had proof of the attack's effectiveness on eir pelt, in the form of long scars. "Understood?" That question, at the same time, was an invitation to spar again, just if Rookpaw wanted to.
