Everything was overwhelming after the ginger tabby was born. And he couldn't even see or hear yet! It was colder than where he was before, things felt icky or weird under his tiny paws, and it was both less and just as cramped as it had been at the same time. It was all different. He managed to make his way to the area that was warm and crowded, his pink and black nose pressed against said warmth, his mother. Now, all he had to unknowingly do was not get smushed or kicked too much.

Life is simple—or it was a few seconds prior to what she's now learning life to be. Life is cold and warm all at once. Uncomfortable and a lot, in short. There's wriggling around her. Moving. Squirming. Struggling. That's uncomfortable too. She has to struggle her way past a lot—a lot of moving, a lot of warmth that's not quite as comfortable as the one she's driving towards.

She knows when she finds it, even if she doesn't even know her own name, or her own existence, really. She didn't really know what she was supposed to do, she just kept breathing and squirming until things were comfortable, better. That was enough for her.

it was nice and warm and cozy. then, in the blink of an eye, it was cold and loud. there was a lot of mewling and squealing, tiny bodies smushing against his and trying to climb over him to get to the source of a yummy smell-- food. well, too bad for everyone surrounding him, because this isn't the way he wanted things to go. he didn't want these chubby monsters treating him like a stepping stool!! and he didn't feel like sharing whatever smelled a yummy with them either for being so rude.

so (most likely to the dismay of everyone's ears), the kit started letting out his own battle cries as he wiggles past the other kits, towards the scent of food. "mmn..MM. MNWEHHH!!!"

The kit knew something was off when there was a sudden change in everything it knew, the temperature, the feeling of everything, and it wriggled around for a bit, looking for something it knew would save it. It moved forward and arrived at the destination. It knew something was there, something was safer there. It didn't know anything about itself but it knew that wherever it was was definitely not as safe as before. But it was here, and that's all it needed to know.

: What happened? Why was it suddenly cold? The kit wriggled around. It was frustrating with this many siblings around it. Attempting to get warmer one way or the other the kitten squeezed into the bundle of kittens, struggling against the other bodies of its kin. It was uncomfortable and..oh! Maybe it was just overreacting, as it nuzzled against the source of the warmth and food and settled [ for now.. ]

"Rosy..." Vervainshadow echoed, tail gently draped over the kits. She eyed each one carefully, gaze full of love. She didn't know how she would be able to remember all their names. She didn't name Freezing|fury and his littermates until they were old enough to walk around, but Shadowedcall seemed eager to name them already. "Rosykit and Havenkit. Sounds beautiful." Clan names were strange, but she found the kits' names ever so beautiful.

"What do you think about... Heather... Lilac... And Yarrow? For these three." She drew her tongue over the kits' heads as she murmured the names. She then tapped her lastborn with the tip of her tail, purring. "Chickadee for this little one here. I've always loved those birds. So full of joy and positivity. I can only hope he can be the same." They were hers. Hers and Shadowedcall's. It had been so long since she got to feel even a hint of such happiness, and now that it happened, she never wanted it to stop. She felt sorry for all the queens and other kits in the Nursery in advance. These eleven were going to be a pawful.

names... were not his forte, so he opened and closed his maw a few times as he thought of names. haven//kit, rosykit, heatherkit, lilackit, yarrowkit, chickadeekit, he purred a vervain spoke. yes. that was only six of the eleven. five more. stars above, so many. "for the others, what about... marigold, aster, basil, 'n evenin'? ya can name the last one, luv." he licked each one when he said their names, much akin to what vervainshadow did.

his gaze softened, a once in a blue-moon occurrence. but it quickly faded when they started screaming. stars above how was he gonna handle this.
