No! She would not give up without a fight! This wasn't about losing to a younger cat; who cared about that? It was that she had to try! Claykit did her best to keep her footing, digging into the ground much like Cypresskit did, but she was quickly losing leverage. Suddenly, she tried shaking her head back and forth, as if that would get the spotted kit to loosen her grip on the stick. If she had to lose, then she would make it a victory Cypresskit could take pride in.

Wah! She was shaking it?! Cypresskit flailed in her next pawstep, nearly missing the bark, but able to dig her claws in just in time. The rosetted kit dug her teeth in harder, and kept her claws in the bark, waiting for Claykit to tire. But at this rate, she'd tire first; She was only a moon old, whereas Clay was 5 moons...

Soon, Cypresskit couldn't hold on, and was flung to the side by her aunt's shakes, crashing into the stream. She floundered for a bit before using her meager swimming skills to haul herself out of the water again. She flopped down on the ground, white and brown fur rumpled and wet.

The stick was held up triumphantly as she won the bout, white furred chest puffed out. There weren't many who could surpass her skill in games, but Cypresskit clearly showed she had potential. Maybe in a moon or two they should do a rematch. It was already pretty close. Oh, and speaking of her niece, there she went wading out of the water. Claykit padded over, and dropped the now tooth-mark covered stick at her feet.

"You did great!" The older kit beamed. "Betcha I couldn't've held on for much longer. As a reward for your talent and for findin' it, you can keep the stick. If you do, we can do a rematch with it later! That's the sorta thing older cats do or whatever. Did you have fun?"

Cypresskit scrambled up again. "Yes! Tha' was fun. I'll for sure play wit' ya again." At the fact she could keep the stick, the rosetted kit beamed. "Thank ya, Aunt Clay'it!" She meowed, picking up the stick again, with a bit of difficulty, and disappearing into the Nursery to put it away. Soon, she came back out. "Wha' are we doin' now?"

Claykit watched as Cypresskit bounded off to stash her prize. Hiding it in the nursery was risky, with all the other kittens, but it kept the wood dry. There was nothing worse than playing with a wet stick. Well, not playing at all was pretty up there too. Suddenly stopping in the middle of a game had to be the worst, though.

"Hm..." Claykit let out as Cypresskit returned. She tapped her paw as she thought about the brown and white kit's question. It was a real head scratcher, deciding what to do next. Most rarely ever wanted to play two games in a row! "There's mossball, but cha can't let it touch the ground... And then there's hide n' seek, don't play that one often... Or we can pretend to be warriors. Did that one night with a friend. Was great."

Pretending to be warriors?! That sounded cool! "Can we play preten' ta be warriors?" Cypresskit asked excitedly. "I mean, ya gotta show me 'ow to play, bu' it sounds rea'y fun!" The pale brown and white kit jumped around her cream coloured aunt happily, tail flicking, nearly bowling Claykit over in her excitement.

Play pretend wasn't her favorite game in the world, but she wouldn't have suggested it if she wasn't willing to go along with it. Claykit's feathery tail swished as she thought of the premise. "Well... one've us is gotta be the leader, and the other a warrior. And we're defendin' the camp from threats! We're the only ones who can see these baddies. Like..."

She looked around the camp, searching for inspiration. Foxes and badgers are worthy imaginary foes and all, but they couldn't be the only threat! "Like from a buncha angry raccoons tryin' to steal all the fresh kill! We can't have that, can we Cypressstar?" Claykit paused. "That's kinda hard to say."

Cypresskit laughed when Claykit said it was hard to say. "It is! So many s'ssss.." She descended into weird hissing. Then she laughed again and bounced up. "O'ay! Get the raccoons, Clay.. err.. Well now I feel dum'. What do you wan' ya name ta be, Aun'y Clay'it?" The rosetted kit asked breezily.

The younger cat's laugh was infectious. It really did sound like that. What was it that Azaleakit had called her, back when they played this? Claypool? No, that wasn't it. the suffix had also ended in an 's'. Claysplash? That didn't sound right either. "How's about Clayskip? Real good name for fightin' stinky raccoons."
