Duskclaw waited patiently. The rusty-black colossus had found a nice sunning spot to sit, that being a large, flat stone that was half in the river and half on land. Wet paw prints revealed he'd already gone down to the lower half of the rock to test the water. It might've thawed but it was far from warm. Just a few heartbeats of his paw submerged caused it to ache and cramp. He wasn't one to complain though. If Floodsight wanted to fish, that they would do.

The silvery she-cat had made her way towards the riverbank for the little fishing appointment she'd planned with Duskclaw. A little tired from her tossing and turning, and mind full of nightmares, the silver warrior didn't get a blink of sleep until a little sliver of sun had arose from the horizon. From then, she was able to sneak in a couple moments of shut eye before the day had officially started.

"Not late, am I?" Floodsight commented with a gentle smile before settling by Duskclaw on the large flat stone. "Hope your rest was better than last time."

"If you are still having trouble, I can ask Owlstar for permission to clear out some room." She'd suggested half jokingly with a grin. "Would probably do the whole den a favour from my restless sleep. Hopefully, I am not the one keeping you up."

"I'd rather not get Owlstar involved in anything." Duskclaw's response was odd, as if it was a practiced response to the Leader's name simply being mentioned. Asking for a den expansion couldn't be that much of an issue.

"I slept well enough. It's the room that's the issue, not you" The massive warrior stretched out and roamed close to the water. The gentle brook ran over the flat rock peacefully.When more ice melted and newleaf rains started, standing on this rock would be near impossible from all the water running over it, but for now it was calm and even somewhat pleasant. "I saw a small trout. Far too cold for much else, though."

She'd nodded understandably before making her way towards the shallow brook, staring into the calming waters. He was right. There were a small trout or two, and also a couple of minnows that weren't worth catching. With her stormy eyes locked onto the small trout, Floodsight padded downstream with a grin. "Let's see who catches one first~"

Her eyes were locked onto the trout, almost wanting to inch her body forward, but also a little hesitant in case she scares it away. Unfortunately, it seemed like the fish had no interest swimming in her direction.

Duskclaw steadily walked into the icy water. Despite his stoicism, the chill of the water clearly got to him after a few heartbeats of it rushing over his paws. He repeatedly took his paws out of the water to shake the cold off to no avail. Eventually Duskclaw chose to just steel himself and focus on the fish. The tom stood completely still over the water. His amber eyes narrowed at a trout swimming right before his front paws.

The head of the colossus hit the water with power. When Duskclaw's face came up his fangs were embedded deep into a squirming trout. He made no effort to flaunt his catch to Floodsight, instead walking over to the shoreline to get his freezing paws out of the water.

She waited patiently and silently for the trout to swim by again. Her focus was all on the singular fish that was floating about, almost leisurely in the middle of the river. Come on...come on... she can't embarrass herself after inviting him out, could she?

Yes! Just as the trout stopped, Floodsight fished it up with her claws and killed it swiftly with a bite to the neck. With bright eyes, the silver warrior padded away from the shoreline and joined Duskclaw, who already had his own. Floodsight gently dropped her prey before commenting, rather embarrassed, "I'm still a little rusty with fishing."

Duskclaw put his trout down, burying it in the shore to collect later. "You've been gone a long while. I'm not surprised." His tone was very matter-of-fact. "I don't think I ever heard where you ran off to." Duskclaw made his way back to the edge of the water. For a RiverClan cat, he didn't seem to appreciate the water. Yes, it was cold, but the way he seemed to twitch slightly as the water soaked into his paws, holding back the will to shake the water out of his large paws.

Her eyes narrowed a little when she heard the words, 'ran off'. She didn't run off, she just... Floodsight rubbed her paws together anxiously, almost wanting to scratch herself with her claws. Her eyes darted around before settling back to the riverbed. River. RiverClan. She's home already, so what's there to fear? It's not like it was going to chase her all the way here, was it?

Stormy eyes darted around for a while before she'd clam herself down a little. In attempts to mask any anxiety that may have just washed over her, Floodsight gave an awkward smile. Simple explanation should do it. Nothing too deep, nor gruesome. Just simple. "Coyotes..."

"They chased me out during Leaf-bare when I was out. Probably just hungry..." Floodsight winced at her explanation. They were more than hungry if they were willing to chase me. She'd stopped herself before she said too much.
