The apprentice winced as Jaggedpaw flinched at the call of Twilightstar, a shock of pain jolting through them. Cardinalpaw felt relief wash over him, briefly overriding the intense pain as Jaggedpaw released his fangs from him shoulder. He immediately shot away, his eyes wide and teeth bared. Blood soaked his russet pelt as the apprentice looked around confused. The insane brat didn't see a damn thing wrong with this?? Stars ABOVE, how crazy was that damned litter? They knew Jaggedpaw was not right in the head, but he was genuinely confused.

Cardinalpaw watched coldly as Starlingpaw pinned Jaggedpaw, his tail lashing behind him. It's what he deserves, really, but, alas. Attacking Clanmates was against the code, the reason for this whole fuss and the reason Cardinalpaw and Jaggedpaw were both in one piece. They had no problems attacking children if they weren't a clanmate. "You utterly insane brat, handle you trying to rip off my DAMN SHOULDER." The russet tom spat at Jaggedpaw's mousebrained question of "handle what?" He knew the tom was stupid, but REALLY? Stars above.

Starlingpaw looked at Cardinalpaw, ear flicking as he blinked. "Cmon over 'ere" He grunted to Cardinal, nodding. He wasn't gonna let this cat stand in the fury. The cat seemed like a good tom, so maybe he could take a shot at having a friend besides songs- not that he minded being around her. He loved it actually, he loved being around the beautiful molly.

Cedarpaw really wasn't paying attention to the commotion in the clearing. Obviously he heard cats arguing, but he didn't pay it any mind until he heard his brother's name get yelled. He looked up, confusion and worry spreading across his face. His brother was helping a clanmate. Okay, no big deal then. Yes, he was in the wrong, but he was being helpful.

"Are you okay?" He murmured as he padded up to Starling, worry filling his eyes. He glanced over at the other cat, the one attacked by.... Jaggedpaw it seems. Cardinalpaw. He'd seen the other occasionally, but never often. After checking up on Starling, Cedar padded over to Cardinal.

"W-What was that all a-about?" he questioned, looking at Cardinal's paws instead of his eyes. It was less scary that way.

What the hell? Was she chopliver or something? What started off as a small brawl between two apprentices somehow got Starlingpaw, Strawberrypaw, Songpaw, and Cedarpaw all running over. But what pissed her off the most was how they were all talking and acting around her like she wasn't standing right there. Jaggedpaw released Cardinalpaw, which would have been great if Twilightstar were seething with rage.

"SHUT UP!" Twilightstar hissed out the words through gritted fangs. The leader's hackles were up, and her tail lashed furiously behind her. "The next apprentice who speaks without me asking for their input is getting demoted for two moons." These brats were expected to be her future warriors, seriously?!

"Cardinalpaw, considering you spitting out insults, you're not in that much pain nor bleeding to death. Come here and let me look at your shoulder." She orders, trying to determine if she needed to fetch Lightningstorm immediately.

"Jaggedpaw, why are you trying to gnaw off Cardinalpaw's shoulder?" She glanced at the dazed tom, not liking the confusion glistening in his eyes.

"Starlingpaw, what made you think that attacking Jaggedpaw after I already called a stop to the fight was a bright idea?" Twilightstar asked, peering at the apprentice.

"The rest of you, not involved, show's over. Go find something to do other than gawk and throw empty threats at each other." She commands the onlookers. Twilightstar had cats getting kidnapped, hurt in traps, and prey barely running, she didn't need the damn apprentices fighting each other. Couldn't these cats cut her just a little slack?

Starlingpaw listened as Twilightstar reprimanded the group of apprentices, looking up at the windclan leader as he rage turned to him. He inhaled, trying to calm his rage.

"I'm sorry Twilightstar, my emotions got the best of me. Seeing a clanmate attacked- even if cardinal was spittin' insults, jagged was too ma'am. Both of 'em were goin' at eachother and Jagged sought Cardinal out. I reacted too quickly an' I'm sorry, I wasn' payin' attention and got caught up." Starling grunted, head down and ears pinned.

"I shoulda heard ya an' I'm sorry."

Songpaw was relieved when Starlingpaw complied, blinking at him in understanding. It was shocking for all them most likely, and it’s not like she had done anything particularly helpful. But her relief was short lived. Songpaw visibly flinched at Twilightstar’s wrath - she had come up to this in the first place to try and keep Star from getting involved, and she just ended up making things worse! Songpaw’s shoulders slouched slightly with her shame, and she dipped her head to Twilightstar. Wordlessly touching her nose to Starlingpaw’s shoulder to offer some encouragement before turning.

The pale yellow she-cat caught sight of Cedarpaw and took it upon herself to force him away from the situation, butting him with her head gently but still with enough meaning to nudge him along. She couldn’t keep Starlingpaw from getting into trouble, but she’d be damned if she let his brother get into trouble. Once they were away from the drama, she turned to Cedarpaw and leaned forward, flicking the tip of her tail to indicate for him to do the same. “In short, Jaggedpaw attacked Cardinalpaw and your brother jumped at Jaggedpaw and pinned him.” She explained, her voice hushed.

Songpaw sat back now, her tail wrapped around her paws. “I should have been able to stop Stars…I’m so sorry Cedarpaw.” She murmured, looking down at black-toed paws in shame. Hopefully he’s not punished too harshly… Songpaw didn’t dare glance over over though, she didn’t want to risk further wrath from Twilightstar.

TW: Self-deprecating thoughts, spiraling

Cedarpaw never left someone faster. He couldn't be around someone he didn't know. He had to leave and get away from Songpaw and how nice she was. He did glance worriedly back at Starling, but he practically ran to a corner, his corner. His corner by the apprentice den. There, he could spiral in peace.

He laid down, his head filling with thoughts both good and bad.

"It was obvious! Twilightstar hates you! You'll never become a warrior like that.

Starling didn't even want to talk to you. He hates you too."

why why why did his thoughts have to be so loud and real and right everyone secretly hated him and that he was never going be good enough for anyone ever??

Well... All that had happened. Spottedpaw would have probably raised her voice up at the others to let Twilightstar do her job but things were getting too hot. Too many yelling cat, and by how they were acting they wouldn't have stopped by her words alone. No she would have just ended up being more nose. Good thing she didn't get close to all this whatsoever. She wanted to see how this would be punished and well.. She really couldn't take her eyes off of this car crash of a show, despite seeing cat blood making her a bit queasy.

A new face joined them, one Jaggedpaw was very familiar with. Straws snarled at starlingpaw who then released him. Jaggedpaw would like to believe it had something to do with the stupid apprentice being scared of his sister even if it weren't really the case. The speckled apprentice rose back up to his paws and shook the dirt out of his white fur which immediately bristled at the tone in which this dumb apprentice spoke to Straws. ”And then you attacked me!” he snarled back, straightening his posture once again and turning his attention back to Twighlightstar. Honestly why were these other guys here, he was fine with his sister interfering. She was allowed to do what she wanted but the other bystanders needed to get a life.

His attention was immediately snatched away from the leader and back towards the russet apprentice who was fuming and spitting words at him. Large dark ears flattened against his head and he snorted in offence. Utterly insane? Why because instead of just taking the hit he retaliated? Jaggedpaw scowled, his tail whipping behind him. ”That's an exaggeration if I've ever heard one! If you can't take a punch don't throw one! I only bit-

Jaggedpaw bit his tongue- his words dying in his throat when Twighlightstar interrupted him. Pale eyes sought out the leader immediately and his attention had been summoned back. The scarred leader looked furious. She shouted at the other apprentices that had come to involve themselves. Good get rid of them, they shouldn't have stuck their noses in this business anyway. The leader then turned to Cardinalpaw and addressed him. Jaggedpaw barely had time to process her words until those angry eyes were directed at him. Jaggedpaw never shrank to know one but even he knew when to respect certain authority. When Twighlightstar addressed him she too seemed to believe he was trying to rip Cardinalpaws shoulder off. He had simply bitten the tom and then um- wait what happened after that? He couldn't quite…remember? It was like his mind had become fuzzy and then he was being shouted at….

”I wasn't trying to gnaw his shoulder off? He hit me so I bit him back.” Jaggedpaw replied. Jaggedpaw fought his brother all the time, he bit him too! No one told him it was wrong so he wasn't sure exactly what he was being scolded for.it couldn't be for the fighting right? He'd seen apprentice brawl before and he hadn't unsheathed his claws! So everything was good right? Well it didn't seem like it, and he had an itch of unease.
