She lifted her head as a voice rang through camp. It was Eaglewing, one of the cats who had been made a warrior at the last meeting. She was hosting a fishing event. That was a good idea; not only would it boost the clan prey storages, it would also help apprentices with their training. And be a fun social event at the same time, for cats who liked that sort of thing. With one last lick to flatten her fur, Irisfrost rose to her paws and padded over to the she-cat.
Breezepaw bounded over to his mentor

Hm. A fishing event? That could be fun. Sunheart did love being in the river, after all. With a dip of his head to Eaglewing, the deputy took a place quietly at the back of the crowd of participants.

Delight filled Eaglewing's eyes as cats trickled in, one after another, for her event. Stars, she'd expected maybe two or three cats, but she had about five times that amount! Asterfly approached, asking to attend, and Eaglewing's eyes went wide. "Oh, yes of course! Please do, we would be happy to have you." Eaglewing made a mental note to perhaps take the Queens out for an event at one point, even if it was just within camp. She felt like they were often forgotten in the clan, even if no one was intending to. A few apprentices--and even a warrior--mentioned they'd like training, which bolstered Eaglewing's courage even more. But the sudden appearance of Sunheart had the young warrior pausing, regarding the Deputy with a wary glance before giving him a nod back. He wasn't Fadingsun, he wasn't Dusklion. He was Sunheart, and she had no reason to distrust him. Though is presence did make this a lot more nerve-wracking. Taking a deep breath, Eaglewing called out to those gathered near her.
"Alright, everyone! Let's head to the river!"
The Newleaf sun was watery but warm, and the warrior let it soak into her ginger pelt with joy. The river, previously blocked by ice flows, had melted considerably. It burbled playfully at the group, as if inviting them to come play. As they approached, Eaglewing cast her leafy eyes over the group. "First things first, everyone. Any tomfoolery, any roughhousing near the river, and you're right back to camp. Got it?" Stars, if one of her greatest fears right now wasn't someone falling into the river and dying on her watch.
"Now!" Eaglewing plopped right next to the river, excitement returning to her face. "Those who would like training, please meet me here. The rest of you, feel free to join in on the lesson or just start fishing!" It wasn't a very rigorous event with many rules and steps, but Eaglewing was more interested in teaching rather than organizing.
[Guess who lost track of time! I did! But regardless, anyone who wants training please mention Eagle in your posts, preferably before 4/13. I will post on that date regardless, but will post earlier if it seems like everyone is ready. Have fun with it! Brownie points to those who engage in (non-harming and non-lethal and really just benign) shenanigans!]
Dizzybug looked at the other cats cheerfully. “I’m up for training anyone! I’ll be at that spot over there,” they mewed, gesturing toward a spot at a smaller stream. After a moment, he walked over to the aforementioned spot and crouched down skillfully, looking for shadows of fish below the water.

Re: Fish Ladder--Right Into Our Mouths! [RC Fishing Event]
Asterfly
She graced the Eaglewing with her signature smile and nodded a little before they all began to walk towards the river. The day was wonderful, and the queen shook out her fur to properly enjoy the sun, pricked her ears for birdsong, and allowed her steps to keep her a fox-length or so to the side of the group while her blue-green eyes wandered over the sun-dappled scenery around them.
Eaglewing spoke again as they arrived to the river, and another smiled tugged at the corner of Asterfly's mouth as the warrior mentioned lessons. Stars, had this not been outside camp, Snowkit would have loved this. She wasn't usually for teaching kits hunting, fishing, fighting and so on before they became apprentices, but maybe she could tell him how fishing worked when they got back. Bringing a nice fish for her and her kits to share could be nice...
Expectations set, the queen let out a breath, recalling her old tactics, training, and hunting patrols from before she started staying in the nursery. She didn't want to sit flank-to-flank with the rest of the crowd as not to scare away the catch, and instead searched herself a bit further down before crouching down on a conviniently sun-warmed rock an beginning to peer into the river below. She angled herself so that her shadow wouldn't fall into the water, and the sunlight wouldn't reflex off of the surface to blind her.
It was fairly quiet for a bit, but then there was a shift a few meters upstream of her. A flash of shimmer scales, and patch of slightly different color, and the moment after it was swimming right by her. She striked, aiming to scoop the fish out of the water and slam it onto the rock so she could kill it.

SPIDERPAW
Riverclan Apprentice | 6 moons | Lanky, amber eyed, blue-grey tabby she-cat with white paws, chin, and tail tip.
Heightened perception: Smell

So it would begin. The young apprentice trotted after Eaglewing as the warrior led the way to the river, tail swaying behind her. She felt nervous, learning to fish in front of so many others. What if she struggled? Spiderpaw loved hunting, and she knew that she really wanted to learn how to fish, but in front of so many others? The tip of her tail twitched back and forth with her anxiety as she padded up to Eaglewing for the fishing lessons.
Spiderpaw dipped her head politely to the warrior. Here's hoping she would do well. It was interesting to see Asterfly so swiftly catch a fish of her own. The queen had made that look easy.
