Pinekit seemed to stare into space. Sure he blinked occasionally but and was trying but weird green creature said 'nuh uh'. So he guessed that it wasn't reaaalllllyyyy his fault that a tail suddenly started trying to swipe him over the head. He ducked, much too late [2 - 2 (due to being distracted thanks Cindergrowth) = 0]. The tail smacked the top of his head then he ducked in what looked like some sort of reflex? Heeyyyy better late than never? Was he right? Whatever it was — he looked really stupid. Now Dawnstar was going to call it about as-
"Hey, Pinekit, I need you to pay attention."
It was too late to mess with the sentence. Then suddenly it realised it was being ignored. Them? Ignored? Focus given to the leader instead? He ignored the irritated pacing, the paws thunking on the ground beside him then behind him. He might still have this thing following him in his head but he was better than stupid MUSHROOMKIT. No, he had to listen. If he didn't... well he'd end up saying something like "GUYS MY FATHER IS HERE" etc and cats would ask/say "Where is he"/"I can't see him" and he'd cry like a weak pathetic baby (that's not what he was). So he sat there and looked back at Dawnstar. Terrified, sure. Of who? Prooobbably the creature (until the pacing dissapeared) and the leader at the same time. But he wasn't scared of Mushroomkit, nuh UH. It... vanished. Temporarily of course. It couldn't stay gone for long.
Pinekit waited for Dawnstar to ask HIM a question, but it never came. He waited. And waited. But it was all for Mushroomkit (and Pondlily but she didn't matter to him). So basically she DID care about Mushroomkit more! He was right, nobody cares. He still decided to wait for his turn to speak because if he just suddenly started telling Dawnstar about how stupid Mushroomkit was without permission she'd probably pick him up, take him outside and send him flying into the talons of a hawk or something. Plus talking to the leader without permission was not proper etiquette — he still needed to set the perfect example when he became the most popular ever, nobody would want to be friends with someone who broke all of the rules.
Pinekit just reeeaaaallllyyy wanted to ask Dawnstar about the proving he's strong afterwards because he WAS strong and she needed proof. When he grew up he was gonna be the best, and he'd go down in history as... FAMOUS!! He was still scared of her but one day he'd be formidable! One day, he might even have more scars than her... maybe maybe even one day he'd be scary to HER!

Mushroomkit was pleased that the leader didn't immediately disregard Dovekit like most cats tended to do, but rather asked after her. The dark russet kitten stood a little taller, even if she was still slightly hunched over trying to be smaller and so that Pinekit wouldn't attempt for the third time to hurt her. Dawnstar seemed to have the same patience as Adderkit! The kit almost wished that her friend was with her, that way, Pinekit would be too scared to hurt her, Adderkit would protect her. Dawnstar would to, she internally comforted herself, but it wasn't as convincing for some reason.
"Uhm, Dovekit is my sister! She looks just like me, we're twins!" Words faltered as she addressed the last of the leader's questions, her tail swaying as a token to her nervousness. "It feels like I'm the only one that can see her most of the time, it's like everyone ignores her or says she isn't real, but she is real!" That of course, was a lie to everyone but Mushroomkit who genuinely believed that the image of her sister that she made in her own mind was very much a real cat and apart of Shadowclan just as much as she was or Dawnstar or Adderkit was.

Mosstangle felt her heart pounding in her chest from the day's events, but once Pondlily was safely brought to the medicine cat den, she resumed with Dawnstar's orders. She paused before approaching the den and took a deep breath to compose herself. She was better than this!
Once her fur smoothed and the tip of her tail stopped twitching, she approached the leader's den calmly, waiting for Mudslide to show up before calling out. "Dawnstar, it is Mosstangle and Mudslide. We have returned and are here as ordered." She said. The warrior waited for her leader to permit their entrance before stepping into the den.
She dipped her head respectfully to Dawnstar. Not wanting to waste any more of the leader's time today, she began.
"I'll provide as much as I saw this morning." She said. "Ravenfeather, Blackjaw, and I were hunting by the evergreen grotto. There was no particular signs of a fox that I noticed, we even encountered more prey than expected. It was when I stepped into the grotto for a drink that I found the grey fox hiding away.
"Pondlily showed up seconds after I spotted it. She led the charge to attack first. We all attacked together, then Pondlily sent me back to camp to get reinforcements. There were no injuries at that time, but thinking she had found something I wasn't aware of, I followed through and returned to camp." Mosstangle reported, not feeling the need to insult Dawnstar's intelligence by adding something like "and that's when you came in!" It felt like an insult that it had even crossed her mind to say.
She was interested in hearing when Mudslide showed up and what it was that she'd missed, as well as what Dawnstar may have discovered, if anything, in her own investigation... if she would even share it.
Multicoloured paws quaked as she paused at the outside of the den, her expression masked by great neutrality, but there was a clench of her jaw and tension in the rippling muscles beneath her pelt. Dawnstar was always intimidating, her den even more so. Mudslide was scared of very few things, but Dawnstar was an appropriate exception.
Mudslide's own wariness towards the leader was the only reason why she didn't waltz into her den and ask for her promotion to an Enforcer to be reconsidered. That meeting, the tabby had already looked sour, and Mudslide simply asking for herself to be ripped of status would maybe make the she-cat laugh at best. But to be honest, she'd never seen her smile. Not like Mudslide did herself. Her point was, laughing was a bit farther out of the realm of possibility in relation to loosing an ear.
But she was getting ahead of herself. Or rather, lacking behind.
The oriental shorthair waited for Dawnstar to let her and Mosstangle enter, and once the call was given, Mudslide ducked inside the den, instantly taking note of the pelts that lined the interior. She let her icy hues wander the environment. Wow. Somecat surely had fun. Or, whatever version of fun she had. Mudslide related the pelts to how she herself collected bugs and their shells occasionally, which made her paws stop trembling momentarily.
Her expression did not offer a window to her thoughts, hard with harsh lines of stoicism, a mask she'd managed to perfect. She dipped her head to the leader. "Dawnstar." She greeted, knowing Mudslide was in for a lot of talking... Oh how she hated it. Why did she have to get involved if that meant she had to speak?
Mudslide cleared her throat harshly and blinked to let her eyes further adjust to the darkness. "Heard screaming... Went out." She began, her voice hoarse. "Smelt fox. Young. Pondlily... I came ... After she ordered reinforcements. Told them to stand down... Hoping... Mosstangle would hear... And stay." Mudslide stifled a cough and shuffled her paws, finding the linger of eyes on her greatly uncomfortable. Stop staring at me, stop acknowledging me, leave me alone, leave me alone, leave me---
"Everycat was... Fighting fine. Until Pondlily... Fell? She... She was on... The pup's back... Everycat besides Pond had... No injuries... B'fore that." Mudslide honestly wasn't paying all that much attention to the warrior, too busy trying to get the other guys to successfully take down a pup of all things. "Blackjaw went... Flying after a hit... To the flank... I..." She swallowed. "Finished it off."
She hoped that was enough, because Mudslide immediately felt terrible, voicing enough words to maybe fill her whole head for moons. It was a terrible feeling. Even if she was just spouting facts and statistics, her voice was still heard, a voice others could use to identify her. Mudslide only wanted to be a blurry face, but her voice made another's vision sharpen to her presence, even if Mudslide only spoke barely above a whisper. Her Slavic accent certainly didn't help, but she shielded that well. Sometimes, paranoia truly saved her.
So that was it. There was no answer. He was going to get no explanation, ever. The why the real why and not some stupid justification from a mouth he couldnt trust and didnt believe was going to haunt him. For the rest of his life he'd wonder why and so be unable to trust because he didnt know why someone he knew loved him and betrayed him. Which meant anyone could, because he didnt know why they wouldnt.
The tom whirled, a snarl bursting from him, half because of the answer and half because a wrong pawstep sent him straight to the floor as a leg jerks away as if it wanted to run without his permission at this news. In a way it was funny, and between fury and heartbreak a bit of some sardonic humor flashed across his face. What was he thinking trusting anyone, Bleedingpaw was born unable to trust his own body so it was only fitting.
The golden bengal mightve gone storming off to throw a tantrum somewhere, anger misplaced onto Dawnstar too at an answer that'd never be satisfying when his eye caught on a shining glint at the back of the den.
Among the leaders treasures was a rock. A stupid little red shiny rock collect by a child, a naive baby eager to make everyone around him happy and love him not knowing that love wouldnt be enough to stop them hurting him too. Dawnstar had kept his rock.
Bleedingpaw stilled from where he was struggling to his paws, having kind of thrown himself halfway to the exit to leave, and just kind of stared at it a moment, chest heaving. "What about you?" He forced himself to ask. "Theres no 'why' of why She did that despite loving us. Or at least none we can ever understand or know or something stupid. So would, will you do this to me too? Would you betray me, hurt me, lie to me too when Ive only tried to please you? Or is it just how it is to live expecting pain at every turn." In some way the tom knew he was revealing a weakness in this, admitting he loved Dawnstar too and that his actions were a bid to try and earn the same in return. What did it matter if he admitted it, if she was just the same as her daughter and everyone else its not like the inevitable betrayal would hurt more or less saying it directly for once.
The irony must be sickening. A child who loved their parents thinking (be it true or not) they had to please them to earn the love in kind, only to loose that parent to betrayal left to watch the world with wary eyes.
The difference was Dawnstar had known in her own paranoid way that (at that time especially) she could trust no one, and Bleedingpaw wasnt quite as sure. So that was the core question, no one could read the future but would Dawnstar strive and continue to not try and betray and hurt him? Trusting her answer, her word, after was a different matter, but Bleedingpaw was laid bare here desperate to know if he should just give up on giving himself if it was useless.
Yeah, she would not have been happy with that answer either at his age. But she didn't know what he wanted her to say. She could have made up some lie, however, that would have been counterproductive. Dawnstar didn't have the answers he was looking for, she wasn't Lark. The she-cat still didn't understand why the cat left herself. So he was going to have to figure out how to deal with not having an answer, just like she did.
Her nose scruches as Bleedingpaw take a tumble to the ground, wobbily as ever. She didn't move a muscle to help him as he snarled. She wasn't going to coddle him, or tell him everything was going to be alright, cause it was most likely giong to get tougher from here on out. He was going to question everyone and everything in his life after this. She wasn't going to be able tell him who was truthworthy and who wasn't, he'd have to make those decision on his own.
She sat and observed him, head turning as his gaze locked onto something in the back of her den. She shuffles her forepaws hoping he isn't geting any ideas to mess with her treasures out of anger. The leader dind't throw out anything that was gifted her, she even had a dried out flower from one of the kits stuffed back there. She'd be what would be called a hoarder, but the fact that for whatever reason some cat took some time to think about her and gift her with something was nice. Plus, gifts, who hated a gift. Well, acually, scratch that it depend on what they gave you.
The scarred tabby refocuses when Bleedingpaw finally speaks aloud. "What about me?" She repeats back, whiskered brows furrowing in puzzelement. She might have been hurt and disgusted by his questioning of her, yet again she'd be the same thing he was. She always was with ever cat she met, distrusting. It was as natural as breathing now.
"Believe it or not, I've never betrayed anyone in my life. I've always been very upfront about who I am and what I do. I don't make a habit of pretending, and I not keen on lying, however, regarding clan matters, I do decide what is worth sharing and what is not. If you considering things like that lying, then I suppose I may lie to you then. I can promise anything regarding you personally, I'll share with you. I've seen the error in my ways clearly withholding information that affects you is not the way to go." Even if she was doing it to be save him some pain, she could see how that was lying in a way. She'll take some time to reflect on that.
"As for hurting you, I can't promise I never will though. My words can be sharp, and my claws sharper. So long as you don't give me a reason to use, then you'll have nothing to fear from me." She couldn't see the future, she didn't know if she'd have to scold him for something or claw him for whatever. She not going to make a promise that she can't keep. Evne though they were family, she was still his clan leader and had a repuation to uphold.
"But betrayal, that I can promise you I'll never do. I only turn my back on those who turn them on me or ShadowClan first. You've been walking the path of becoming a great warrior since you joined the clan, and I don't believe I've cause you any pain since now. Yet, even now that stems from my daughter's foolish deicison, not something I've gone out of my way to cause you. So continue walking the path you've started walking, even though its riddled with doubt uncertain, knowing that you at least one cat to depend on." Which was more than she had had. As much as she'd love to say Bleedingpaw could be the same to her, she was too far down the rabbit hold of paranioa and distrust, wholehardly relying on no one but herself at the end of the day.

Okay, so she wasn't some sort of ghost whisperer, Mushroomkit literally had an imagine friend. Cute. She's never had to deal with a kit with such a quirk. She did wonder what promoted the arrival of the friend, she didn't understand the minds of kits so that was a question to ponder later.
"Well, she's your friend and sister, perhaps she's only comfortable being seen and heard by you. Dovekit is nice, right? She doesn't tell you do bad things or break any rules, does she?" Dawnstar was hoping that this imagine friend thing wore off as she aged. She was willing to indulge the kit for being a kit, but they may problems if this continued as she reached apprentice and warriorhood.
After waiting for Mushroomkit's response, she locks her eyes back on Pinekit who seems to acually be paying attention to her this time. That dazed looked in his gaze was gone replaced by something a little more focused, ambitious, and kitten-like. He wasn't as terrifed either. Huh, she'd have to dig a bit later to see if she could if she could figure out what had him spooked.
"Great, I have you attention now. So what's your deal, Pinekit? Everyone's tell me you're beating on Mushroomkit. Is it true? And is there some reason for it other than you dislike her? Being stupid, smelly, or weird aren't reasons to pick on your denmate." She lists of the usual kittenish reason cats hurt each other.

Mosstangle reported, not feeling the need to insult Dawnstar's intelligence by adding something like "and that's when you came in!" It felt like an insult that it had even crossed her mind to say.
She was interested in hearing when Mudslide showed up and what it was that she'd missed, as well as what Dawnstar may have discovered, if anything, in her own investigation... if she would even share it.
The two entered as Dawnstar finished cleaning her claws and observed the pair. Her nose twitches, swearing she caught the faint scent of nervousness in the air, but she couldn't tell from which one. It doesn't matter, she listens to each she-cat give their report with Mosstangle starting. Hmm, it wasn't an assigned patrol that changed things a little bit.
She was tempted to ask more about that later. Her tail gave a sharp lash at hearing that none of the cats had caught the whiff of the pup or any signs before it attacked. It hadn't looked all that experienced, so it they hadn't been paying attention to their surroundings, which was possible considering how badly they dealt with the fox, or there had been signs and they didn't pick up on them.
So Pondlily had decided to send Mosstangle back for reinforcements not long after showing up, and Mudslide arrived, unable to keep Mosstangle from wasting the leader's time. It sounded like they had been handling it fine, but Pondlily made another mistake somehow and got shredded for it, and Blackjaw as well leaving Mudslide to clean up their mess.
"Okay, that's all I needed from you; you're dismissed," Dawnstar ordered after finishing with them. Her eyes lingered inquisitively on Mudslide for a long second. She was doing incredibly well, hiding it, but she had small ticks that made her severe discomfort known. She was Mistlewhisker's choice for an Enforcer, she'd love to know what the deputy saw in her. She was compacted obviously, but her choppy report and little signals told the leader other things. She might need to bug Hawkbite about her later.
Anyway, she'd have to talk to Pondlily as soon as she recovered. Most of the problems had seemed to stem from her weakness.

Mosstangle
Shadowclan warrior - 19 moons - Large dark brown-and-white tabby she-cat with green eyes.
(Purrks: N/A)
~~~
Mosstangle listened to Mudslide's slow, broken apart recount to Dawnstar. She hadn't expected such a shy and quiet response from an enforcer. The tabby had expected a more detailed report from the other she-cat... but she couldn't say that the quiet enforcer's report wasn't enough. It seemed to satisfy Dawnstar, which meant the leader had plenty of information to work with...
At least, from Mosstangle and Mudslide.
Mosstangle bowed her head respectfully to Dawnstar before slipping out of the den, relief sinking through her like cold water. She was so relieved not to get an absolute lashing from the huge molly as she slipped out of the leader's den. By the time she was two fox leaps away from it, she had already relaxed enough to almost fall over. There was no way she'd been this tense, Mosstangle didn't even get so stiff when dealing with fights!
Whatever. She should find Blackjaw and visit Pondlily.
Silentpaw blinked once, taken aback. But he knee exactly what - and who - Dawnstar was talking about. The tom suppressed a scowl, settling for a slight frown instead.
"Oh. Her." He murmured, mostly to himself. He'd know it'd happen eventually, but Firebloom meant nothing more to him than a rock at the bottom of a river. "Used to be close. Not anymore. I was young when she caught my eye. I know better now. Her, not so much. She will not distract me, I am loyal to ShadowClan until my last breath." He paused, tail flicking with mild annoyance at how bad he was saying things. 'I'm loyal, blah blah blah' would NEVER work.
"She does not mean anything to me anymore. She is ThunderClan. That itself says enough. Whatever you have seen at the Gathering, it is nothing like you think." It was true, of course, he didn't like her anymore, nowhere close, but it still felt weird to say, knowing for Firebloom, it wasn't quite the case.
Pinekit was pleased that finally, finally HE had something to say. And oh boy he was going to use it. He was just pleased it was his time to tell the truth about Mushroomkit. How she hurt him and his paw, and how all he did was protect himself. The second time? Eurghhhh he couldn't explain thatttt... uh... he didn't have time to stall and make up an excuse.
[silver tongue t1 active]
"Weeeeell. Everyone is lying about the first time because she actually hurt ME the first time." he began, glaring at Mushroomkit out of the corner of his eyes. Looking back at Dawnstar, he continued, "She scratched my paw and -" he sniffed, feigning sadness, " - she- she keeps blaming the fact I pushed her out of self defence into some thorns - that I got some help to get removed - onto- onto my- claws..."
Drama act #1 over. He couldn't actually fake crying soooo this was the best he could do. Next up.. uh... explaining the thing where the feathers were and stuff... Hmm welll that was green creature telling him to do it, not him. He couldn't really... explain that without revealing the truth about green creature. And the fact it exists. Dawnstar might think he was odd. Uhhh... Well maybe it was part of StarClan! Yeah uh .. Would Dawnstar believe that... probably not.. But it was his only shot at anything. He awkwardly looked to the sides of him, unable to see the green creature. Weird. Maybe it had to go back to StarClan? Is it StarClan?? He mentally shrugged that off, that was a question for later... What he told to Mistlewhisker was too dangerous to repeat here because he needed excuses.
[silver tongue t1 active]
Time for drama act #2...
"Well. The second time, there was like... a message. It came to me and it was like 'We need you to try to hurt Mushroomkit.' or something.. I think it could have been StarClan! Or.. maybe it was the bad dead cats... I don't know - it was just in the moment, but the thoughts weren't mine - and then I realised I was scratching Pondlilly or something before I knew it and then Mistlewhisker came and.. yeah."
Pinekit shuffled his paws awkwardly, then looked at Dawnstar politely. "That's all." he mumbled. Now he had to pray to StarClan that he'd done enough to convince her...
[Scorpionpaw]
ShadowClan Apprentice
29/100
No Purrks
Scorpionpaw would lean into the brushing motion as her mother offered some comfort. It was more than she was expecting, honestly. A very soft purr would even escape her, a soothing response as she listened to her Mama speak next. It was disrespectful! How could he just up and leave her! What had she done wrong to cause that?! Then something else caught her attention.
Can't tear them apart?
Scorpionpaw's amber eyes would turn upwards to meet her Mama's matching ones. They burned with irritation, but Scorp honestly could barely notate that. It was getting harder to read some emotions, harder to understand if they were real or not, because what she had been feeling... it didn't feel real.
The offering for training was the only thing that got the apprentice more on her paws. The dark tabby let a little grin fill her lips once more, although her heart definitely wasn't in this one. "Training would be great! I wanna catch up!" Once on her paws, she'd give her Mama a gentle nudge with her head, an act of affection despite her current state of mind. "I want to be the first of my siblings to get my name, though. I want to show them how it's done..."
Blue eyes were always a little disconcerting, especially the light ones. They hid nothing like the dark could, pupils clear and their target clearer. Windows to the souls as all eyes were, but no dark curtains to hide them.
Bleedingpaws were akin to headlights for a car you could not see on a back country road, boring into your soul, making you unable to see anything else, and the only thing that existed amongst the dark. Ghostly, in a way. It was needed. He needed to claw into Dawnstars soul and know, see, it all.
It was only after she stopped speaking, only after he mustve seen something that changed things, did he blink.
In that moment he bled his emotion, it all draining like a lanced wound and the bubble of tension popped before being refilled. Exhaustion, though so deserved after everything in this, did not take its place however. No it was something more like a vow, like determination. If that made any sense at all.
Bleedingpaw forced himself to his paws through tired shaking legs to stare the leader face to face and chuckled something broken. He couldnt, just couldnt as a cat manage solitude. It'd consume him or he'd lose himself in it. So to stay he had to trust someone, or at least try to. And Dawnstar was telling the truth.
~Purrk Mind Reader acquired~
He wasnt sure how he knew, and a park of him so distrusted himself and his own judgements after how badly Lostspark had betrayed and tricked him it'd take time and proof for that truth to settle into his bones. But he believed the leader, at least until proven otherwise.
"I-I can accept those terms."
Because he could. He could accept all sorts of horrible lies as long as they werent about him. Everyone around him lied he was learning. He could accept cruelty. He'd loved Rosa despite her physical and emotional cruelty until abandonment and time had washed that to tatters.
"I can be loyal to shadowclan, to you, I can be the best possible warrior, I can not make you upset with me, I can never betray you just dont- Just dont betray me."
Maybe he couldnt uphold his word but it was Bleedingpaw. Love hungry, desperate, needy, Bleedingpaw. He could and would die trying if it came down to it. As long as someone loved him for it he'd do anything, so as long as Dawnstar didnt betray him, as long as her care didnt hurt him like Lostsparks did, the tom who genuinely cared so much for all life and at core wanted to do naught but help would commit atrocities.
It was kind of funny. Had he the sense of self to act on his own behalf for once he'd be a totally different cat, but now as he was he was more of a reflection of the cats around him. Completely unintentionally. Though his almost demand here was a rare bold act he was taking for himself, a potential sign of change.
"A-and as for her.... Ill make myself not care." Impossible, but also necessary for survival. "Theres so many more important and better cats then her that are still here, why should I care what she does. If she comes back it wont fix what she's done anyways." An ironic chuckle as the tom fixed gaze with Dawnstar "S-she cant even come back really can she? Even if she's not done anything she's betrayed us, I dont know that a cat like that would have worth anymore..." It was the leaders decision of course, but he'd like to know, to be warned, of her thoughts on the matter.
In the end it didnt matter, and endless further realizations almost choked him. "I-I have siblings. They saw it... They saw her for who she was and were disappointed long before I was, no wonder... I thought the pity was because of my disability but maybe they saw this all coming in a way..." For the first time Bleedingpaw wished he could talk to Howlingpaw who spewed vitriol he hadnt understood and had feared. Now he got it though. "Some of them must feel the same betrayal and hate it, maybe I could trust their love...."
There had to be cats, he couldnt trust them but he could watch, he could be wary and prepared but still bask in the care they gave he craved. Blind faith was dead, but he could at least try and see if trial would reveal those who wouldnt return his devotion with pain. This all could be done, if "You, you just have to not betray me." It was said with the dying cries of a child Bleedingpaw no longer was, the last gasp of faith that kitten had once had in the first cat to ever show him care.
Ever a desperate thing, this freak.
@Undertaker(ive no clue how to end this but I thiiiiiink this is most of what bleeding has to say, I am freed from desperate stream of consciousness speech!)
