[ this post takes place AFTER mosspaw's assessment !! o7 ]
Primroseadder blinked happily as Adderstrike and Mosspaw settled down beside her. She wrapped her tail around Mosspaw to keep her apprentice from freezing, pressing her pelt to Adderstrike's. ''Mosspaw passed 'er assessment,'' she purred to her former mentor. ''She's shapin' up well. 'm proud of 'er.''
The warrior wanted to brag to her former mentor about her apprentice. It was only right---Adderstrike had bragged about her.
It was hard to fight the smile that was cracking along Adderstrike's face. Unable to fight it back she leaned over to get a better look of Mosspaw. "With Primeroseadder teaching you, there is not doubt in how great of a warrior you'll be." She said sweetly. Then with that she wrapped her tail around Prim's back to keep her warm. It was a warmth chain!
Seabreeze padded in towards the back of the clan, watching the seastone's with a careful apathy that he has long since perfected over his moons of life. It was strange, how easily people let themselves be read while at events like this. Like there wasn't a chance that they would be mauling each other tomorrow. Though perhaps that was more pessimistic than realistic, actually no that was very realistic. These cats couldn't care for any past their own clans. They act as though the place of birth makes a different kind of cat when they all bleed the same, mourn the same, live the same. What makes a thunderclan warrior and a Riverclan warrior different besides the name?
Whatever. It was a time for listening and maybe this gathering won't end up as awful as the last one. See, he can be positive from time to time. Oh Cloverpaw, be careful or he'll take your optimistic, puddle half full view of life. The former lionheart sighed, yeah that wasn't really funny. Though at least it shows that he's started to get over Cloverpaw more. Joking about her and stuff as though she was still here. Now then, time too sit down and hopefully not freeze anymore of his limbs off... looking at you, half broken paw and bitten ears. Stupid frostbit.
"Sunflowerflare," He greeted as he found a seat next to his long past apprentice-den-mate, okay maybe that was a bad descriptor. But it wasn't like very many cats could say that they were in the same den. Most of the cats that seab shared a den with back then are dead or missing. "Any bets for tonight? I'll do a mouse that Bumblestar threatens someone." He spoke playfully, but he was pretty confident that was a bet that could be won.
Rosemarypaw
OPEN
Another gathering, hopefully it won't go as horribly as the last one did. That was something that wouldn't stop looping in his brain all night when he returned to his nest in the apprentice den. All of the threats that Bumblestar had made against Riverclan despite how maybe justified they were. It was terrifying, that one cat's mistakes could lead to Thunderclan coming back and finishing the job that was growing into a history of kicking Riverclan down every couple moons. The apprentice looked around for someone to talk to but he was still very nervous.
He didn't really want to be near anyone that wasn't Riverclan, having long since taken Adderkind's words to heart that day in the mountains about leaders and other clans. That they would turn in a flash and last gathering proved that more than true if Rosemarypaw needed any more evidence to believe something he already long believed. After all, he was born in the mountains, he was first paw evidence of the cruelty of others for mistakes. Sometimes he wishes he wasn't born into Riverclan at all, sometimes he wished that he was born into a calmer clan that seems to have less fear and anxiety.. maybe Shadowclan? They didn't have much to say very often besides high rank changes and Rosemary paw was already living with the third leader of his very short 7 moon lifespan.
Sometimes he would even take being born into a kittypet home over being in Riverclan. But alas, he had his brother and he really didn't have anywhere he could go if he chose to leave and so Rosemarypaw stayed. Sitting down by himself but around his own clan, the apprentice readied himself to watch the gathering proceedings while praying to the stars he doesn't believe in that everything stayed relatively calm this moon.
The outsider turned clan cat kept as near to the exit of the seastone's as one reasonably could while staying near where most of Riverclan was sitting. Look he was caught off guard by one fire and was almost turned to a crisp, he didn't want to be caught off guard by a full out gathering fight and sorry new clan, Honeypaw wasn't sure he would be anything but dead weight in a fight if he stayed. He wanted to live, he wanted to love with Floodpaw and that's really all he could ask could he? Speaking of, where was his lovely partner in crime? Did he come to the gathering or did he stay behind for some sleep?
This could her her final gathering as an apprentice! And wasn't that such an exciting thought, almost enough to make her bounce in place if she wasn't being careful about putting up a respectable front around the other clans. AHHH She was just so excited though!! She could hardly contain herself, and Wispy was going to be happy and so are all of her friends and also maybe even whatever ghosts of family that remain for her in the stars. Though she really did hope that the stars could even see them still, that was a scary thought, if she was named now then would it really be approved by her ancestors?
A concerning thought but one that she decided to bring up with Wispy at a later time that wasn't at a gathering. Her ears flicked as the sound of her leader called out and it appeared that some of her clan mates had decided to join the gathering early even though it was like... something even kits knew to stay and join with your clan... it was common sense... but maybe they were new loners or something that didn't quite know how things work, at least now they did so next gathering they would have it no issues! As some of the warriors passed by the group to head home, Applepaw waved goodbye and hoped that they would see it as a friendly gesture.
Now, where should she sit? "Oh! Sparkpaw! Sparkpaw! Hey hey!" The apprentice called out excitedly as the newly named apprentice barreled past her and down into the seastone's! It was so much fun! Applepaw remembered her first gathering and hoped for the sake of her niblings that this one was on the calmer side. Usually Windclan wasn't dealing with any sort of threats ( unlike a certain fishy clan wink wink ) but it could still be frightening should Bumblestar be un the mood she was last meeting. As Applepaw approached the apprentice she introduced herself just in case. She hasn't been able to keep up with Wispy's newest as much as she would like but she stilled loved them all to bits!
"Hey! Just in case you didn't know, I'm your Aunty Applepaw! Your mama and I are really close, and I was wondering if I could keep ya' company during' your first gatherin'?"
The warrior apprentice and soon to be warrior stepped down into the seastones with a light giggle and a smirk on his face. He sadly missed out on all the entertainment from the last gathering and almost half hoped that something like that would happen again! It was always nice seeing Riverclan get tossed around, if he didn't know any better, Wildpaw might just've assumed that the clan was nothing more but some kits playing pretend at a real clan. Like he's seen the kits of Windclan do. His amber eyes searched the high rank stones and noticed a new deputy among their numbers and seeing as there could be no one else's, it was clearly Riverclan's newest fish.
Well that spotty tom didn't seem to be all too much, he looked like he was just made a warrior honestly, no where near the experienced cats that Crowtooth and Twilightstar. It was clear down to the way that the Bengal tom even carried himself. It didn't show the confidence of Crowtooth and it certainly wasn't the gracefulness of Windclan's leader. But who was he to judge- oh right, the cat that as of next meeting would the best of the best. He almost laughed again. He would show any Riverclan cat up with his eyes closed and without breaking a sweat! But enough bashing because while he wanted to continue, Wildpaw also wanted to find Bunny before any enemy clans tried to get cozy with them.... He scowled as the Riverclan warrior that sat next to Bunny came to mind.
"Bunny oh Bunnnyyyy! Where are you?" The apprentice singsonged to himself as he searched the Windclan cats that were joining the existing crowd of two other clans, searching for the ever familiar monochrome pelt and icy blue eyes and pretty laughter and brilliant smile and oh Wildpaw wouldn't even mind being the dirt under Vinesmoke's tunneling claws if it meant being with him. But that was perhaps, a little too much, but Wildpaw wouldn't be Wildpaw if he wasn't too much, even with something squishy like love.
Frostpaw
OPEN
His first gathering!!! OH YES THIS WAS GOING TO BE SO COOL! Frostpaw will finally be able to meet ( and bite ) all of the other clans, and it was already looking to be so cool and exciting which beat his boring training 100% so far. Though no offense to Grammy Deadmoon and UNcle Hawkfur, Frostpaw was just looking to have the complete freedom of doing whatever he wants. Not fighting in boring ways and hunting gross prey. It was probably what all cats thought of training probably. Unless you were weird. The apprentice tom took to just wander around through the crowds of cats rather than settling down, trying to decide where he wanted to stay for the gathering.
Pumpkinpaw
OPEN
Yep this was the last gathering that Pumpkinpaw was ever going to, he couldn't even think that it was so loud but at the same time all of the noise was coming out to just be plain gibberish and useless and just served to overwhelm his brain until he couldn't even think his own thoughts over it all. It was awful, awful, and horrible. It was something that Pumpkinpaw never wanted to do ever again, but he had to prove to Twilightstar that he could be a normal apprentice and that meant attending gatherings. Maybe.. he'll just do every other gathering, that was still proof enough of him being totally fine and normal...
there was no way he was going to be able to hear a single thing that any of the high ranks say.
Panic digs at her once Fogmask has left. Even if he's still within view. Even if there's plenty of her own clanmates around. That doesn't negate how there's a Shadowclan warrior next to her, flicking snow at her. And, yeah, sure she started it but. But now what. For one of the longest moments of Salamanderpaw's life, she sits there and she fixes her eyes ahead and she ignores Quietmouth entirely because she's just not sure what to do. Is it okay to keep playing? Is it okay to get up and leave? Will she have failed whatever test Fogmask has surely given her? Will it make her a bad warrior if she runs from this adversity? Ugh!!
She hasn't missed that he's looked over, head cocked inquisitively as if to ask, are we doing this? Salamanderpaw's tail flicks erratically. It...would probably look worse for him than for her. Playing around in the snow like a couple of kits, that is. And it's something she can get up and physically do, something that takes way less effort than trying to figure out how to communicate right now. And then she'll have Won The Interaction, which is good.
Salamanderpaw finally forces a look back at Quietmouth, narrowing her eyes peevishly and swatting some snow right back at him. Yeah she wants to play. Get snowed on, loser.
Another moon, another gathering. The tom could only hope that things were at least a little calmer than the last one but he knew that was just wishful thinking... at least, it felt like it with the instability of Riverclan and the lapse of control over their warriors with the newest of the leader changes. Owlstar was here today, so that was two moons for the newest leader, and along the deputy seating was a new tom that Rabbitpaw didn't recognize, it must be their deputy as well. The medicine cat apprentice didn't let his own gaze linger for very long, and rather turned it to the medicine cat seating next.
Both Silentpaw and Sleepysunrise ( if he was remembering the names correctly ) where there already, and it seemed that this batch of Shadowclan healers was on their second moon ( gathering wise ) as well. It was surprising and he wouldn't be a shock to hear that Dawnstar was getting fed up with the slipping stability of her healers. If the trend continued they could end up with a reputation surrounding it like Riverclan's. Rabbitpaw could only wish that he could keep his head on his shoulders, he would rather die than fail his clan.
"Everytime we come to the seastone's I try and tell myself its the last one of freezing before newleaf and yet..." He sighed, though it was more for the dramatics than being genuine, and maybe he shouldn't be complaining about the cold to his mentor who had significantly less fur than Rabbitpaw. He hoped that it would lighten the mood, or at least start some small talk before any of the leaders began, and that would be at least a bit judging by Thunderclan's absence in the seastone's. He wondered after the clan's plague, his mind having drifted towards it often some nights when he couldn't sleep or had woken from a nightmare. It always circled his thoughts back to his mother. Had she been inflicted with this? Was that why she wasn't getting better? BUt she hadn't spread it around, she hadn't seemed to be contagious.
It was useless thinking in the end though, so the tom found his way up to the medicine seating and waited for his mentor before trying to settle at her side, hoping to block some sort of wind from hitting her. The blonde turned to the other medicine cats next, "Hello, I don't think I've ever properly introduced myself. I'm Rabbitpaw," He greeted the Shadowclan medics politely, introducing himself though his name has been announced a time or two already, "How are you three? Doing well despite the risk of a frozen tail, I hope... oh hey, speaking of, we match, Silentpaw, right?" He kind of went off what he rehearsed in his head there, but he didn't realize that both he and Silentpaw had rabbit-tails. Neat.
"Oh umm, you alright Berryshine?" The Riverclan medicine cat wasn't just quiet in wait for the gathering like the Shadowclan medicine cats seemed to be.. her eyes were wide and it seemed like she had turned into the same ice that coated the rock beneath his paws. Though Rabbitpaw considered himself good at reading cats, he wasn't familiar with the brown feline, so maybe he was reading it wrong... or maybe he shouldn't have brought it up at all. But he liked to be on good terms, maybe not friends, but friendly... who knows when that could be helpful. But maybe this was overstepping even that. Rabbitpaw quieted then, staring worriedly before dropping his green eyes to Lightningstorm.

Re: February Gathering
Quietmouth purred as he dodged the snow and swatted some back at Salamanderpaw. He didn't care if it was childish of him to be playing with snow like that, he was ready to have some fun. The stoic-ness of his expression faded and was replaced with a kit-like joy.

The bob-tailed apprentice whirled around when she heard her name, seeing a cat, a denmate, who she hadn't interacted with much. "Hiya!" She chirped happily. "Auntie Appleplaw?" Sparkpaw repeated the name and title with the tilt of her head, she was not familiar with this cat. But still, they said they were family right? Close to her mother! So it must be so! "Of course you can hang out with me!" She purred, bouncing happily a few times around Applepaw.
"So cool! How are you my auntie but you're an apprentice like me? Are you gonna be a warrior soon? Did mama train you? How do you know each other?" The questions tumbled out of her mouth faster than even she could control, but her eyes shined brightly at she looked at Applepaw expectantly. Sitting with her stump of a tail twitching from side-to-side excitedly.
"Ack! Cheater! Hold still!" Quietmouth dodges effortlessly, while Salamanderpaw's hit by every bit of snow he sends her way. He must be a cheater. Uh. Somehow. Anyway, Salamanderpaw's up on all four feet again, clumsily scooping up another damp pawful of snow. She doesn't try to lob it this time, but instead reaches out to try and pat the icy clump down between his ears. If she can't trust her aim to do the job, then she'll settle for this.
This is nice. Fun, anyway, and that's enough to distract her from trying to stay composed and out of trouble. She'd still rather be hitting Quietmouth for real, but a snow-and-sand-fight will suffice for now.

Re: February Gathering
Quietmouth was getting tired from dodging snow. I haven't had this much fun in moons! As he saw Salamanderpaw lift some sand and snow and shove it between his ears, he purred, shook his head, then sat down, breathing heavily. He nodded at her, glad that they were able to have fun together.

˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ [ @kira + @Mica + @/more cats 2 get covered in sand ]˗ˏˋ ★ ˎˊ˗ ── .✦ ➜ Looud. It was so very loud! Houndpaw didn't understand how anyone focused at these Gatherings. It was cool to see different faces and all but the mingling since and overlapping voices ─ the crowd of cats? Torture. Absolute torture. He had to get this sand-hole done and fast. He just needed something to help muffle the sounds; to enclose around his own body.
Expect, SOMEONE started distracting him for his digging. Houndpaw looked up to stare at a tiny cat. A 'paw like him, if he had to take a guess. Golden irises blinked slowly, trying to focus in on their voice. Something about being disrespectful and flinging sand. Why was she interrupting him? He was busy! "HOLE!" He barked at the apprentice, huffing. He was getting distracted by STRANGERS. They should leave him alone. "BEGONE!" For good measure. And that was all the talking they would be getting.
How rude!! (It was just sand. Coool sand!) Irritation flicked through his pelt, unable to stop his body from twitching as he returned back to his digging. His paws scooped out the sand with a practiced expertise. Dig. Dig. Dig. Dig. Dig. He kept digging around it, switching angles to make it a proper Hound Hole.
