Stretching his stiff, lanky limbs, Freezingfury sat outside the warriors' den, cold, calculating eyes scanning the snow-covered clearing. Though overlooking most cats, his gaze fell on one particular cat. What was her name...? Primrose something? ... Primroseadder? If he remembered correctly? Freezingfury had absolutely no reason to talk to Primroseadder, nor did he really care about his friendships, but he found himself approaching the she-cat anyways.

"Primroseadder, correct?" He spoke in a low voice once he stopped beside her, long, snake-like tail lashing idly behind him. He then gestured to himself with the tip of his tail. "Freezingfury. I hear you are quite the talk of the town around here lately." What a way to start a conversation, but... What better to point out than the so-obvious rumours? No matter. If Primroseadder got pissed, he'd happily move out of the way. He was not looking forward to starting unnecessary drama.

Primroseadder looked up from her meal---a plump salmon from the recently thawed river---at Freezingfury, her emerald eyes narrowing against the gray light that the clouds overhead offered for the day. ''Primroseadder's the name, so you're indeed correct,'' she replied, taking another bite of the salmon and pushing it towards the tom. ''Nice ta meet ya, Freezin'fury. You can have some of this, if you'd like.''

She was the talk of the Clan, huh? ''Depends. Glad ta know that I'm so popular, though. What's the Clan sayin' 'bout me?'' Primroseadder had no doubts that it was because she was training most of the Clan's apprentices these days.

So he was right about the name. Goody. It seemed she wasn't a mean cat, so that would make things much better for both him and her. He held up his tail at her offer, slowly shaking his head.

"I appreciate the gesture, but there is no need. The salmon is yours to keep." He meowed, gaze travelling to the partially eaten salmon. He looked to Primroseadder again as she spoke. Hm. 'Depends'. Quite amusing, really. "Nothing much." He hummed, shrugging lightly. He did not like getting into the fine details, especially not to a nearly complete stranger like Primroseadder, but he knew enough about cats not to give such a vague and blunt answer. He looked towards the sky, tail curling around himself.

"Mostly positive. You seem to always want to stand up for yourself, is that right? You are a bold one, that is for sure. From what I have heard you have also been finding the joy in training our apprentices. Word has spread." He narrowed his gaze and the corners of his mouth turned upwards in a small, teasing smile. He turned his gaze back to Primroseadder with an amused look.

Mostly positive? Who had something bad about her to say? They could always say it straight to her face! Maybe they were too scared, afraid that they wouldn't make it out alive. Hmph. They would be lucky to get away without a torn throat, that's for sure. Primroseadder's ears twitched.

''Mostly positive, you say?'' she inquired, pushing herself up into a sitting position and wrapping her tail around her paws. She'd finish the salmon after they finished their conversation. ''That makes me wonder who's goin' around 'n throwin' dirt on my name, y'know? Not that I'm worried about it, of course.'' Primroseadder met Freezingfury's gaze, eyes narrowing down to slits. ''Most mentors seem incompetent these days. 'm surprised Owlstar 'n Sunheart haven't stripped 'em of their apprentices yet, considerin' that 'm the one doin' all the trainin'.''

Feisty much? He never thought anyone could get snarkier and feistier than Ophelia, but here Primroseadder was. With an amused exhale, Freezingfury turned her gaze to the clearing, warriors, apprentices and kits going on about their days.

"Well. I should not be your messenger. If cats want to talk bad about you, so be it. If they cannot say it to your face, they are cowards." Freeingfury's face twitched to a scowl. "Got it? It is good that it does not worry you. Make it stay that way. And, regarding the mentors... Is it not true. I am not a mentor myself, but Owlstar needs to find better mentors for these apprentices, no?" His tail twitched as he spoke of the lazy mentors. His own mentor hadn't been the most diligent. But who was he to judge?

Primroseadder let out a purr of amusement, her whiskers twitching. ''I wouldn't say that they're cowards, just afraid that they won't make it out alive. They're makin' 'emselves look like hypocrites, talkin' 'bout me behind my back instead of tellin' me ta my face,'' she pointed out, tipping her head to the side. '''m goin' ta let Sunheart know about the mentors bein' incompetent. He'll tell Owlstar, 'm sure.''

Freezingfury thinned his lips. Hm. Shaking his head, he looked to Primroseadder with half-lidded eyes. He found it quite amusing, the back-and-forth thing that was going on. Maybe that was just how a conversation worked. He wasn't sure.

"Sure. Do not let anyone ruin your self esteem, alright? Anyone who is scared to speak bad about you to your face is a coward. My view on that will not be changing." He murmured, expression soft, yet his voice held a slight edge to it. "Why not tell Owlstar directly? It is not like she would kick you out of her den for telling her about her lazy Clanmates. As long as you are courteous, I do not believe she will mind."

''She knows that I've been training them, but I think she'll make more of a move to do something about it if her Deputy were the one to tell her,'' Primroseadder responded, her gaze meeting her Clanmates. ''Thank ya for suggestin' it, though, Freezin'fury. It's appreciated.''

Freezingfury hummed, chilly blue eyes narrowing in amusement.

"If that is what you believe is right, go for it. I am not in the position to tell you what to do, after all. Just..." The tom momentarily paused to give his paws a few gentle licks and drew it across his dark brown ears. "Just tell me how it turns out. I would like to hear. If you don't mind."
