Third Tries the Charm! [ Solo - Training ]

Seabreeze

Seabreeze led the apprentice out of the camp and into the territory, half annoyed after learning of the apprentice's training luck but the agitation drains out quick when he realized there was nothing he could really do at this point besides help out where he could. And in this case that was taking this apprentice out for their training and hopefully Rosemarypaw would be considered Seabreeze's apprentice soon. Despite his shy nature, he seemed to be a well mannered and level headed individual. The anxiety would need some learning to cope and mechanisms to deal with healthily but honestly most cats had some form of anxiety.

"This is the Seagrass Fields, the newest graveyard for Riverclan and has herbs of all sorts. The constant weather makes it hard to hunt though." The warrior remarked, glancing at the apprentice as he looked around, eyes wide. The former lionheart couldn't tell if it was fear or awe at leaving camp for the first time. Well kind of, Rosemarypaw was born in the mountains after all and then the twolegs den camp for awhile on their way back. And what a crazy thought that was. Moving on after a moment, Seabreeze continued to lead them through the territory to the next landmark.

"Lionsbeach, not really much for herbs or prey really, but the view is worth keeping around in my opinion. The water is too rough for the best swimmer on most days so let's try and keep our paws in the shallows if at all until you get some proper lessons." Seabreeze explained as the soil turned to sand and they stepped out onto the beach. It was about midday so the cold wasn't at its worst but along the sea's edge, it was always more biting than in the main territory. As though the wind freezes at the sight of the sea just as most cats do. Like how all cats that meet him always end cold and dead eventually. Ugh, hush bad thoughts, Seabreeze was actually a little busy right now.

The warrior watched Rosemarypaw waiting for any remarks or questions.

Rosemarypaw

Rosemarypaw followed after Seabreeze with his tail tucked as much as it could be with the nub that it was. While navigating within the camp was simple enough to do when they really started to enter the territory the apprentice found himself having a slightly harder time weaving his way as gracefully as Seabreeze. The warrior seemed so sure of himself, like he could be blinded tomorrow and he would still know exactly where he is and where each twig or blade of glass was. But maybe that was just the insecurities biting him, actually it totally was his insecurities. The idea of that was stupid, of course he would need a little time to get to know the territory, the warrior with him was like three times his age or something and has been a warrior for longer than Rosemarypaw was even alive.

"H-hm.. oh- oh right. The dead.. do they mind that we gather herbs here? Wouldn't that disturb their slumber?" the older feline responded with a shake of his head, but his face turned from lax to something like a scowl. His greyblue eyes widened and he hobbled back on his paws, terrified that he had asked the wrong thing but Seabreeze responded, saying that the dead didn't mind and if they did, why should the living care. Which is a strange take, it felt personal, and Rosemarypaw could only assume that the anger the warrior showed was something to do with someone dead... or perhaps starclan as a whole. Rosemarypaw has never been sure about it himself, and doesn't really think about it often.

Regardless, the encounter led Rosemarypaw a bit too frightened to ask anymore follow up questions and he instead followed the warrior silently as he started to lead the pair of them to the next Riverclan landmark which was a place that reminded Rosemarypaw of the Seastones. Which he was pleasantly surprised to hear that he was off the mark as this was Lionsbeach. Beaches were a water thing right? Like the ocean? Now he wasn't so sure, because he couldn't recall where he had got the information from. Oh right, he wasn't looking forward to swimming. Not like he would be very good at it anyways.

"A-and that's uh that's it?"

Seabreeze

Starting forward, the warrior set pace to the next destination on their territory tour, his ears flicking and it still felt weird that he was mentally aware of the missing flesh along the tops but he didn't actually feel the difference at this point. Though he wished the same could be said about his paw that chronically pained him. "Well yes and no. While those are Riverclan's only landmarks currently we also have the three borders we share with the other clans... but we can't go to the windclan border because of the current ban." As they made their way away from the beach, Seabreeze found himself falling into lecturing mode easily.

"We did have more landmarks, but that was before the camp move and since even then, under Stormstar we let go of land with what I assumed a plan to expand outwards away from the other clans and our older territory. But with Stormstar's passing that plan hasn't been executed, leaving the clan with very few landmarks and land. But we have made it work over this season." Seabreeze finished speaking as they came up on the first border and for a moment he recalled the encounter of the outsider he chased out here recently and how active they have been within Riverclan's territory. The lack of common sense from outsiders still confounded him on a good day and enraged him on a bad one so he stopped trying to make sense of it.

With a flick of his tail and a slight pause, "This is the Smallpines, the border we share with Thunderclan. Our side ends on this side of the bank, why don't you step down and see if you can tell if a patrol has come through here recently, and see if you can scent Thunderclan's side of the border, though if I say stop you stop and turn around, we don't need to accidentally tresspass." He didn't shiver at remembering Larkwing's injury for himself, but he feared the cats of Thunderclan took one too many lightningstrikes and just might treat an apprentice like Rosemarypaw like that.

Rosemarypaw

That made sense, but wasn't that dangerous, how come no one has done anything about it yet? During leafbare, though Rosemarypaw was born in leaffall and doesn't have a great frame of reference, there was less prey and it was difficult even with the proper amount of territory. The apprentice tripped over a twig and stumbled harshly, though managed to catch himself before speaking, "That's... concerning. Why hasn't Owlstar led anyone to finding or retaking our old territory. Wouldn't have been helpful during the bare season?" The sounds of a small river faded in and once they rounded around a willow tree, Rosemarypaw was faced with a place that smelt strong enough to be Riverclan's camp.

"Smallpines?" He mumbled even quieter than normal as he stepped forward at Seabreeze's direction. This is terrifying, his fur bristled as he stepped towards the bank, lowering his muzzle in search of the Riverclan scent first, hoping to finish what he was asked quickly to get away from the border as soon as possible. Rosemarypaw didn't have battle training thank you. The smell of salt water and grass met his nose and he knew that this was certainly Riverclan, but it wasn't as strong as it was in camp, but also of course it wasn't- cats didn't live here, after all. So was it weaker than camp because it wasn't lived at or was it because a patrol went through here earlier this morning rather than recently. Or was this as strong as it gets...

He didn't know, he couldn't tell, but he could scent something strange that he recognized from the gathering as Thunderclan's scent so at least he could get that one. Rosemarypaw hobbled back up the bank to Seabreeze's side while suppressing a shiver of fright. "I could smell Thunderclan, I recognize it from the gathering... but I can't really tell about Riverclan scent, I don't think there has been any recent patrols here." The apprentice licked at the fur on his chest, urging it to lay flat once more because it was silly getting frightened at the idea of something rather than an actual something.
