Pepper quit trembling when she realized she wasn’t in trouble. “Y-yes. Pepperkit.” She mewed, her voice still shaky, as she stood straight up, stepping away from his paw before sitting down. “Why do you call their name? Is it a way to say congratulations?” Curiosity glittered in her gaze as she turned back, her fear vanishing like a mist. Maybe she should’ve chanted. That would be respectful. But an uncomfortable feeling stopped her in her tracks before she raised her voice.
“Should I or stay quiet? I don’t want to be.. loud.” It wasn’t that she didn’t want to be loud- it was the crowd around her. It was hard to say she was scared of being surrounded by these warriors after only having twolegs and Jupiter. I miss you, Mama.. She thought suddenly, paws shifting uncomfortably.

rookfire, forever cursed with all the motherly instinct his mother did not possess, smiled as pepperkit straightened up before sitting "yes, we celebrate their acomplishment. see the black and white one was my apprentice" rookfire lifted a large paw to point the kit in cindersparks direction with barely concealed pride, when ya rank up ta' apprentice we'll chant your name too"
"ya dont have to chant or be 'round here durin' meetings if its too loud, but im certain if ya chant for the new apps or warriors next time they'll appreciate it. n if they dont i would" he assured pepperkit, hollow pain radiating from his neck down his shoulders from how he was bending down to the kit. rook shifted, a frown appearing on his face briefly as he flexed his left foreleg, curse his choices moons ago, the former medicine cat was almost certain this was a very late reminder to let breaks actually heal properly before going on random badger patrols and enforcer meetings..
"how are you likin' shadowclan so far? nightshiver is nice hmm?" what conversation could one realistically make with a kit? whatever, if nightshiver could practically live with kits all day every day rookfire could make conversation with one kit he already liked.

Cinderspark

Just like that. Just like that. With words sworn before the stars and the customary touch of nose to forehead, Cinderpaw sheds her name as the trees do their leaves, leaving behind Cinderpaw and sprouting wings that are instead Cinderspark. There's a shining 'thank you' in her eyes as her grandmother pulls away from her, even if Cinderspark cannot quite get her mouth to smile the way her eyes do.
She'd been... kind of surprised actually that her name had been okay enough to not be vetoed. Now she holds something of mamma with her always. Just like mamma. As the meeting draws to a close, the new warrior offers a nod to both Magpiecove and Willowwood, a congratulations on gaining their names, too, before she turns to find some faces in the crowd.
Birdecho is grinning at her, and Cinderspark trots over on her uneven gait, a careful and tentative offer to brush her cheek affectionately against her sister's own cheek is silently asked, and, should Birdecho accept the gesture, Cinderspark would allow herself the comfort of the physical affection she never really took to in the past, a pleased purr humming lowly from her throat. And then, if she was nearby, she'd seek out Wispypaw, too.
She finds her next to Sleepysunrise, her expression about as peeved as it always was and the medicine cat's expression neutral. Had Cinderspark been aware of Sleepysunrise's feelings on her suffix she might have had the decency to at least appear ashamed, but those are not thoughts the new warrior is privy to, and as such, all she can do is offer a tight smile to her big sister and nod. Had Sleepysunrise been aware that this name had been one Cinderspark had gone out of her way to request, her roleplayer will take a moment to break the fourth wall and say they are eager to see the outcome of that should it be made known. Cinderspark, however, turns to Wispypaw.
"Soon," she squeezes out, her throat raspy from the volume she'd made her oath at. She should probably stick to silent communication for the next while, but she wants her sister to hear her. "You're.. next. Save a.. nest for you. Promise." She swears it.

Birdecho could barely contain her excitement as Dawnstar turned to Cinderpaw to give her her name. The warrior bounced on her paws, biting her lip and grinning, prepared to be the loudest of all to shout her sister's name.
Cinderspark.
Birdecho froze, wide amber eyes blinking with surprise. Cinderpaw had taken on Mama's suffix as her own. Whispers flickered at the edges of Birdecho's attention, but she did her best to ignore them. Birdecho was going to be there to support her sister, damn it!
"CINDERSPARK! CINDERSPARK! CINDERSPARK!" Birdecho leapt up and down, whooping with joy. The new warrior loped over to her, hesitating before sticking out her cheek for a rub. Birdecho shoved her face forward with enough enthusiasm for the both of them, purring as loud as her lungs would allow her to. "Good name choice." She whispered, then touched her nose to Cinderspark's ear. "Mama would be very proud I am sure."
Then Cinderspark moved to Wispypaw, and Birdecho was left to contemplate the rest of her siblings. The only surviving ones; Sleepysunrise, her, Quietraven, Cinderspark, Bleedingpaw, Wispypaw, and Quillpaw. (Because as far as Birdecho was aware, Quillpaw was alive.) Only three left to get their warrior names. Birdecho prayed to whatever might be listening that Bleedingpaw, Wispypaw and Quillpaw survived to see their warrior ceremonies.

Pondlily let out a loud purr, calling out the names of the new warriors. ''Magpiecove! Willowwood! Cinderspark!''
She and Magpiecove hadn't gotten along during their first interaction, so Pondlily had made the decision to avoid her altogether. Maybe now that the she-cat was a warrior, they could make amends and be friends at some point in time.
A familiar voice hit her ears, and Pondlily's blue eyes flicked over to her best friend, Birdecho. A purr rumbled in her chest once more, and the blue-gray tabby got to her paws and bounded over to Birdecho, but not before flashing Tuftedtusk a glance and mouthing the words, I need to speak with you once the meeting's over.
''Hi, Birdy!'' Pondlily purred as she arrived next to the gray-and-white tabby, her blue eyes sparkling. ''Haven't talked to ya in a minute. How've you been?'' She glanced at Cinderspark. ''Congratulations, Cinderspark. The name suits you.''

Pepper felt a grin slowly form. “I see why you guys do that now.” She mewed, gaze shifting to the cat - a new warrior - Rookfire pointed out. “She’s pretty!” Pepper exclaimed, admiring the she-cat for a while longer before turning back to him, eyes widened in fright when he mentioned the clan calling her name when she became an apprentice. “R-really? Would they not if I asked nicely..?” The thought of hearing her name being yowled by many cats- the cats that were gathered, most likely- scared her. It was already bad enough that she could barely handle the large crowd she had jumped into, but yowling? Get used to it.. you’ll be stuck hearing it for the rest of your life. She thought, though it didn’t reassure her whatsoever.
“I’m sure they would, but I think I’ll keep my mouth shut. My old housefolk - Twoleg - hated when me and Mama were ever loud.. they weren’t mean but they’d yell a bit if we were too loud. Peace and quiet was all they ever wanted.” Her mind trailed to her old home. The den she and Jupiter lived in. Her housefolk had white fur on their heads. The Tom housefolk was often holding a long stick. It helped him walk supposedly. The female one often had an odd smell on her. What was that smell? Pepper wondered before shaking her head, bringing herself to the present as Rookfire continued.
The question he asked was a good question. Pepper wasn’t exactly sure how to feel about this new change of scenery, but she was looking for an adventure. She’d already been exploring the forest despite only being little. “It’s.. not what I’m used to. Jupiter used to let me explore the forest and collect stuff. Being stuck in camp all day is boring.” Peppet grumbled, ears pinning in annoyance as she glanced at the nursery. “I don’t talk to many cats. I’m not used to being around new cats for long periods of time. Sure, I’ve seen those loner cats that roam the twolegplace as you call it, but I never got stuck with them long term.” Morgan came to mind. The loner was a trickster. He’d led her and Jupiter into forest cat - clan cat territory. She’d trusted him and he’d broken it. Pepper’s trust for Shadowclan was relatively slim, but they wouldn’t hurt her… right..?

he nodded, having grown up with the chanting it was nothing new, but to outsiders..strange, sure. somehow. like a freshly made father, he smiled at the compliment for his former apprentice. at pepperkits next question however, rookfires brows knitted together in thought, attempting to estimate how dawnstar would feel about that. she wasnt like other leaders he had experienced that would go out of their way to make things easier for just about every cat, which was in no way supposed to mean she was cruel, just..more realistic. if one couldnt handle the cheers, how could they handle the life of a warrior? rookfire himself, he was happy to extend such special services to kits, they had a lot to learn, and not every cat could be born a blazing storm like scorpionpaw. later..not so much. but he was in a good mood. things were actually going alright for once. mostly. shadowclan had settled nicely even with his and his mentors demotion and oh so unfortunate death. sleepysunrise was doing alright, his first apprentice just graduated, blazingstar encouraged his path. "ah i dont know if dawnstar would like that but ya can always ask 'er if youre seriously concerned 'bout that" the former medicine cat shrugged. "yer not a kittypet anymore, no need ta' keep their rules close. we have our way of life, and they have theirs." he countered with a bit more persistance than his last answer.
'being stuck in camp all day is boring' he huffed a half laugh at that, just escaped from their twolegs and already the same as all the other kits. theyre going to get along nicely if pepperkit continues like this. "patience. ya can play with the other kits for a couple moons long 'til youre apprentices.. theres ah some lessons kits can take as well. some huntin' n stuff" he reassured.

Pepper ducked in embarrassment. That was right. Dawnstar was the one who chose what would happen. ”I know.. It’s just something I’m so used to that it’s hard to be anything different.” She admitted, a tremor running down her spine. Still, the crowds. The calls. It was NOT something she’d look forward to- Yes ofcourse she was looking forward to the day she got to experience the ways of the warrior. Until then though, she’d be in camp, listening to the loud yowls of congratulation. Maybe I’ll get over it by the time I get to that point. Sure she would. Hopefully.
Lessons? At the mention of lessons for kits, she quickly rose to her paws, interested within seconds. “What lessons? I bet there’s something for a flower collector like me!” Pepper mewed, trembling in excitement. The thought about learning about flowers felt like something she was extremely interested in. Sure she’d be a warrior but she’d be a flower collecting warrior! That would be so much fun to just run around collecting flowers! It probably wasn’t something she’d be able to do but nonetheless, she’d collect flowers, even if she wasn’t able to have a role in the clan by just collecting flowers. She’d obviously fight! And hunt. But all she cared about learning about now was flowers!

Wildstorm’s ears swiveled forward. Another apprentice? Fine with her. Hopefully Wintergreenpaw wouldn’t go getting demoted before she could train him some. The scruffy she-cat rose to her paws, gaze flickering around to locate the apprentice she figured was her’s, the totally lost expression on his face kinda gave it away. With a mental sigh, Wildstorm strode confidently over to the -paw, reaching down to touch noses with him. “Congrats kid.” She meowed, her voice a little bit gruff but her words no less genuine.
Deerpaw glanced excitedly at Canopypaw, eyes sparkling with delight. “Good luck!” She chirped, touching her nose to his before bouncing away in search of Quietraven.
Bramblepaw blinked in confusion, did he hear that right? A reassignment? Hillstrider. He was unfamiliar with this warrior. What happened to Ratflame? Bramblepaw couldn't help a pang of...sadness. He hadn't felt this sadness in a long time...not since his sister went missing. Is Ratflame okay? Or did she simply decide...she didn't want to mentor him anymore? The golden tabby tom tried to shove these feelings down and away, now wasn't the time. His gaze flickered around the clearing, searching for who this new mentor was.

Hillstrider gained self-awareness again just before Dawnstar called his name for a reassignment. Oh, sick! A new apprentice! Both of his had gotten their warrior ceremonies already, so he was hyped to have a new one! Hillstrider searched around for a Bramblepaw, though he wasn't entirely sure who that was. Though his eyes locked on a young cat searching through the crowd, and Hillstrider made the assumption that that was his guy. The warrior padded over, giving who he assumed was Bramblepaw a grin. "You Bramblepaw, little dude? It's nice to meet you, I'm Hillstrider."
Bramblepaw turned when he heard a voice approaching and state his name. This must be Hillstrider. The golden tabby nodded, blinking his blue eyes at the warrior as he dipped his head respectfully. "Yessir." He meowed, his voice even as he spoke. "It's an honor to meet you. I look forward to working with you." He added, reaching up to touch noses to Hillstrider in the traditional greeting. He wasn't familiar with this tom, but he gave Bramblepaw a positive feeling...like he was looking at the warm sun in leaf-bare. Or like what he imagined an older brother should be...made him wonder if this was how Snowkit felt when she looked at him before... Maybe she didn't and that's why she left... But he shoved the thought away for now, this was not the time or place to become lost in thought.
