[RC EVENT] Ice Racin'

This wasn't the kinda thing that Irisdream would usually attend. Especially lately. She never really participated in anything that could potentially ruin her image of absolute grace and poise. But a familiar voice grabbed her attention. Her whiskers twitched curiously as she watched Duskleaf descend from his tree, stifling a small giggle of amusement as he evidently got a head start on the ice event. This could...prove to be a good opportunity. She had decided to consciously let go of her mother's teachings right? This kinda thing would certainly be in line with that.

In one graceful motion, the silvery she-cat rose to her paws and trotted over to join Duskleaf, her pawsteps swift and silent even in the snow. "Mind if I join you?" She mewed as she approached him from behind, hoping that announced her presence enough to not startle him. He had seemed like a pleasant enough fellow to spend time with...who knew? This might be fun. Especially if mother burns with rage watching me.

Ice racing? WELL THEN! Splashleap remembered this, oh yes she did! She was surprised someone else had had the same idea as Snakeheart, especially as Brokenstream was neither old enough to remember nor quite as insane as the former medicine cat. He had obtained great delight from watching the warriors slip and slide around, and Brokenstream seemed less likely to find sadistic in such. Nevertheless, Splashleap was quick to join the crowd. Rainpaw lifted her head at Brokenstream's announcement, glancing around in surprise. She half expected her sister to come rushing out at the sound of Brokenstream's voice, snorting in sarcastic amusement when Ravenpaw was nowhere to be found. Must be out or something. Rainpaw was still...avoiding Ravenpaw for the most part. She tentatively rose to her paws, this might be a good opportunity to just...let go for a bit.

The black-and-white she-cat stepped forward, clearly not as enthused as some of her clanmates, but her bright green eyes still hopeful that she wouldn't totally regret this.

Soaringpaw's ears perked when Brokenstream called out towards Riverclan. Her...mentor was holding up an event? Right now?? For..apprentices and warriors. Was the river..actually frozen? Like it won't break? At all? It just..doesn't seem that trustable. It didn't seem stable to be going around and walking on the ice. Brokenstream..Brokenstream wouldn't let other cats fall through the ice and injure themselves...that'd tarnish his reputation. And..if he wanted to kill, he would've already. And he could easily get away with it. Her eyes went over the crowd of cats..There were some..was..this actually that safe and no one's gonna die? Even Owlstar was there. If she ends up looking stupid in the event that'll embarass her though. It was a race, so if she ended up last place she doubted she'll be walking out of the apprentices den for the next few weeks. It was on ice, so if she ends up slipping and falling how'd she get back up?? What if she accidentally slips unto a thinner part of the ice and falls through? Did Brokenstream really check every inch of the river to make sure it's frozen evenly?

Soaringpaw cautiously watched, trying to not get any attention on herself. Although she had a feeling the lionheart already glanced at her at least once by now after he looked at the surrounding cat's expressions. Well Soaringpaw herself was trying to gauge some of the other cats expressions too, mainly the warriors who'd know more about the cold winters and frozen rivers; for a much different reason than he was. Everyone looks so..excited and none of them seem to be worrying as much as she was. Was she really the only one? Seriously though, would the ice actually hold up? Brokenstream was just one cat on the river so what about everyone else? And how effective would claws even be when one tries to use them to not slip?

Hazardly, she approached. She really has never joined events like these, preferring to enjoy the comfort of being by herself without anyone else. And she had a feeling that was exactly what was gonna happen. She felt so out of place. Soaringpaw needs..needs to convince herself this was for the better, but she still stayed quiet, not involving herself in a conversation with another cat. Maybe if she fails horribly she could..quietly leave the event before anyone notices. No..someone'll notice. What..what will she do if she fails horribly? She's gonna feel even worse and close her doors more than she already does. She didn't even need to participate, so why was she still here? Just to suffer? Maybe if...no one has noticed her joining she still had a chance to leave before the events starts

Primroseadder made her way over, pausing beside Owlstar and Rowanmane. Her eyes flicked over to her apprentice---Mosspaw---and narrowed thoughtfully. Should she let her join in on the race, considering that she was still so small?

''Mosspaw! Come sit with me, alright?'' She called out. ''Just until Brokenstream leads the way to wherever the setting of this race is.'' While Primroseadder trusted Brokenstream, Mosspaw was her apprentice and she wanted to ensure the tortoiseshell's safety. Besides, it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye on her.

She glanced at Adderstrike, who was also beside Owlstar and Rowanmane. Her whiskers twitched with amusement at the behavior of her former mentor, and Primroseadder couldn't help but let out a warm purr of laughter all the while saying to the RiverClan Leader, ''I think you'll be proud, Owlstar; Mosspaw's training is going really well. She's a fast learner, and it only takes her two or three tries to get a hang of something when I teach it to her.'' Why not boast while she had the chance? Her words were the truth! Primroseadder puffed out her chest with pride.

Caveclaw is not exactly sure what possessed her to join this.
Maybe boredom, maybe not.
Either way, here she is.

She still absolutely hates how cold it is, but for some reason she's decided joining this is a good idea.

Did Berryshine hate the cold? Yes. Was Berryshine terrified of slipping on ice? Yes.

...But was she far too amused by the idea of Stagheart slipping on ice instead that she urged him to go?

Yes.

And of course, he'd only begrudgingly come if she did too. So the medicine cat found herself padding out beside her adoptive father, glancing around at the others assembling.

"T-This should be... interesting," she purred, glancing up wryly at Stagheart. The grumpy warrior did not look too happy, but there was also that familiar glint in his eye that betrayed his fondness. He had a hard time saying no to her — and while Berryshine didn't often capitalize on that, today was one of those days.

Stagheart was, of course, grumbly. Being out in the cold for anything other than Clan duties wasn't his preference, and he didn't think seeing himself bumble around the ice would be anything but ammunition for the relentless teasing he could already imagine from Willow, Berry, and Daisy.

And yet... with those kitten-eyes Berryshine liked to pull out of her back pocket, he had a hard time saying no. The scoundrel.

With a growl of mock-annoyance, Stagheart flicked her ear with his tail, one of his rarer and minute signs of affection. "Sure. If you count me fallin' on my rear 'n freezin' my tail off as interestin'." Despite the dryness of his tone, the amused glance he gave to the medicine cat spoke of his truer feelings. Besides, back in his day (oh stars, was he old enough to be talking like that already?) he used to goof off on the ice as a younger 'paw. When his mentor wasn't looking, that is.
