Primroseadder purred her approval, pride glowing in her emerald eyes as she stood to her paws. ''Good job!'' the RiverClanner praised. ''Owlstar will be proud to hear that you're doing so well with your training.''

Primroseadder sat down and swiped her tongue across her white forepaw, dragging it over her ear. ''Take a rest, Mosspaw; you've earned it. While you're resting, we'll talk about respect, honor, and what comes with it. Oh! And the warrior code.''

The warrior wrapped her feathery tail around her paws, eyes fixed on the green ones of Mosspaw. ''Recite the warrior code. I want to see how much of it you know and how much you don't know.''

"Okay," Mosspaw said happily.

"Uh, I know don't kill a cat unless needed, uhm, feed the clan first, uhhhhhh, respect borders, and what the leader says is best?" she said unsurely.

It seems like the kit curriculum hadn't taught Mosspaw enough whenever she had still been Mosskit. Emerald eyes narrowing, Primroseadder began to speak.

''Defend your Clan, even with your life.
Do not hunt or trespass on the territory of another Clan.
Kits, Queens, and Elders must be fed before apprentices and warriors; Unless granted permission, apprentices are not to eat until they have hunted for the elders.
Prey is killed only to be eaten; give thanks to StarClan for its life.
A kit must be six moons or older in order to qualify for their apprentice ceremony; however, Owlstar is able to make an exception sometimes.
Newly named warriors will keep a silent vigil post receiving their warrior name.
A cat cannot be appointed Clan Deputy without having mentored or currently mentor an apprentice.
The Clan Deputy shall become the Clan Leader if the current leader dies or retires.
After the death or retirement of a Clan Deputy, a new Deputy must be appointed by Moonhigh; this one isn't necessarily true. Owlstar's decided that she will appoint a Deputy in time, but she'll handle patrols until then.
Moving on---A gathering of all four Clans is held each and every full moon during a truce that lasts for the night; there shall be no fighting amongst the Clans at this time. Gatherings can be called off if the Clans cannot make it.
Boundaries must be checked and marked often; challenge any and all trespassing cats.
No warrior may neglect a kit in danger, whether the kit is apart of their own Clan, a different Clan, or do not reside within a Clan.
The word of the Clan Leader is the warrior code.
An honorable warrior does not kill in order to win his or her battles unless they are outside of the warrior code or it is in self-defense.
A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.''

Primroseadder took a few deep breaths. That had been a lot. ''That is the entirety of the warrior code; I want you to memorize it, Mosspaw. I'll be asking you a question on it everyday, but I won't tell you when. I will just ask at random.''

Mosspaw's eyes widened. "Wha----?" she said, still processing the information newly put in her young brain.

Primroseadder shifted on her freezing paws. ''Yeah, it's a lot to take in; that was my reaction when Adderstrike first introduced it to me, too,'' She chuckled. ''But you have to memorize it to be a warrior.''
