She expected a bit of reluctance when it came to her decision, but she believed it was the right one. She hadn't gotten over Stormstar's death, far from it. It was a risky decision, but one she thought was worth it. "Over this moon, two more cats 'ave joined the ranks a Riverclan, Floodpaw, whom has been assigned ta Mudhaze, n' Honeypaw who I'll be givin' ta Deerspark." There was also a good amount of reassignments, and Owlstar didn't exactly dread them, but she wasn't excited either.

"Icepaw ta Mudhaze, Aspenpaw ta Racconsun, Salamanderpaw ta Willowtail. Talonpaw, I'm aware yer previous mentor was Stormstar, but I've been told yer nearly finished with ya training, so I won't reassign ya. Though, I'll have ta reevaluate that decision if ya don't become a warrior by the next meetin'." She lifted her one eyed gaze to the cat before addressing the crowd further.

"I wanna inform all of ya that we're lookin' fer Lionhearts. I ain't gonna hold events er applications, but I want cha ta be active. 'Ave a few cats in mind, but we could always use more."

Now to the harder part, something she wasn't too fond of. "The Starcave... Collapsed. No exit, no entrance that can be seen. Seems like sort a earthquake came and crushed everythin'. Thankfully, it seems like nothin' else outside of the Starcave was effected by it. But, our connection ta Starclan is now lost." She wondered if the borders of mortal and dead could be broken though dreams even without the moonstone, but her chance at getting her life was now a near never if she couldn't find a way back in. By some miracle maybe. Some weird and undeserved miracle.

She allowed for some silence. She knew it was a lot, especially for cats most devoted to their faith, a hard and dreadful pill to swallow, let alone come to terms with. A possibility that the clans may be without lives for the rest of their time in the forest.

Her gaze clouded before she spoke up once more. "After this meeting, I'll be callin' the cats who volunteered fer the coyote hunt, checkin' the outsider border. If ya ain't anycat who I called, don't bother comin' ta me. I already got enough cats, don't need no more."

She gave her clan one last encouraging nod. "Meeting dismissed."

Primroseadder whisked her tail, letting it curl behind her as her emerald eyes narrowed thoughtfully. Lionhearts, huh? She'll go for it---she had been been taking apprentices out for some of their training lately. Floodpaw for a territory tour, Riftpaw for a battle session, Hookpaw and Shadowpaw for a territory tour, etcetera.

Her tail swayed behind her as she got to her paws and stretched, jaws widening in a yawn. She shared a look with Tigersplash. ''So? What do you think?''

"The Starcave has collapsed? Honestly I haven't a reason to feel grief over this." Adderstrike muttered to herself. "It is one explaination to their neglect of us, maybe the other clans will be caught off guard by not having a watchful eye coddling them." Adderstrike was glad that the neglectful were finally getting pushed away. Her clan didn't need to send wishful prayers to beings who didn't care and just harmed her clan her whole entire life. Though she was sure that it wasn't some illness that brought down Starclan, no they were willfully unhelpful. Other clans were getting help, Starclan had shown its power before and hopefully whatever caused Starclan to be blocked off was permanent. The living would be better off.

WHAT???

HIM??? OF ALL CATS FOR A MENTOR, OWLSTAR CHOSE HIM??? MUDHAZE??? THE ASSHOLE THAT THREW HIM IN A RIVER??? OH HELL NO.

The one-eyed cat whipped his head around to face the younger cat, blue eye blazing with fury. Out of all the cats in the clan, Owlstar had to choose the one Floodpaw despised the most. Just his luck. At least Honey didn't get an absolute jerk for a mentor, because deerspark was good in their book so far.

The small tabby's lips curled into a snarl as he stalked over to his new mentor. Lets hope this one - despite being an absolute jerk to him, floodpaw hoped Mudhaze would break the cycle of no training (even though he already has broken the cycle), and the tabby could finally get his warrior name.

"Just because you're my mentor doesn't mean I have to be nice to you," floodpaw snarled."You're going to train me, i'll become a warrior, and then I don't ever want to cross paths with you again," they spat, turning around as Owlstar continued the announcements.

So...lionhearts? Floodpaw might try for one if the leader allowed him. He would have to get working and get his training done though. And the starcave collapsing wasn't really something the apprentice cared for. Then coyotes, right. The thing that killed stormstar. At least she didnt run away like the last few leaders, and instead died in battle (Despite everything, Flood still missed furbs, after everything shes done for them, how could they not?).

Eaglepaw grimaced as apprentices were listed and mentored. She hadn't been reassigned to a mentor. Not that she was blaming Owlstar--she was doing her best, and Eaglepaw was sure it was somehow her fault. Maybe she hadn't stood out enough. Well, it didn't matter. She was moments away from finishing her training and requesting an assessment. She'd be a warrior before she knew it, so she didn't need a proper "mentor".

Looking for Lionhearts? Eaglepaw perked up, her large ears swiveling to Owlstar. She hadn't done nearly enough to warrant the attention of the elite, but she could practically feel Stormstar's encouraging grin at the thought of working towards joining them.

And then news about the Starcave... Stars, that was a terrible omen if there ever was one. And the way Owlstar delivered the news... Eaglepaw wanted to feel insulted on behalf of StarClan, but the apprentice had long since become disenchanted with the supposed ancestors, what with everything RiverClan went through while she was part of it. If they were separated from StarClan, was that really a bad thing? Sure, Leaders might not be able to get their lives, but when has StarClan ever been willing to give lives? They were horribly stingy with RiverClan, so surely they had to be like that with everyone?

Eaglepaw silently cursed herself for not volunteering for the coyote hunt. She wanted to take down the creatures that had killed her friend. But Eaglepaw could also recognize that if she went on that trip, there was no telling how she would react to a battle. It was better to stay here and continue to rebuild her skills.

As the meeting dismissed, Eaglepaw shook out her thick pelt and made her way to a sheltered bush, settling under it and watching camp bustle about.

Her son! Her son was a mentor! Oooooh, Almondchatter could just squeeze- oh no! Heavens forbid! She hadn't grabbed him before the meeting to groom his fur! A catastrophe, if only she'd known that he'd be named mentor today... she would have licked his fur into perfection. Like preparing a kit for their apprentice ceremony.

No Starcave? Well. It's not as though Starclan's been very useful to Riverclan as of late, anyhow. Salamanderpaw doesn't have a strong enough opinion on the matter to be frightened or to think up anything scathing. It might as well have been a fallen tree or something—some far off excitement that she can only picture in her imagination and nothing more. The world hasn't stopped. It just is.

Hearing of her newest mentor, number five, is almost enough for Salamanderpaw to pick her head up (she's barely attending this meeting at all, sat slumped in the mouth of the apprentices' den with her ears tipped just so), but she doesn't follow through. She is not going to rely on this cat when the several others before haven't panned out. It's not anything personal, it just doesn't seem necessary. She's already started getting herself caught up with the help of Amberdusk and Caveclaw's spare time, and now that she knows it's pretty easy to talk just about any old warrior into showing her how not to be useless, she isn't all that motivated to get excited about having a proper mentor again.

She'll probably go say hi to Willowtail soon, at least. Just...in a little bit. Maybe a lotta bit. Maybe tomorrow. Hghhhhh....

The things about apprentices wasn't much news to Cloudsong, but the Star Cave? Yikes. That would bring more than just a simple problem. Would StarClan just not be accessible? How would that even work?

From what she recalls, Owlstar hadn't even gotten her lives, that is unless she's mistaken.. But nonetheless, it was a terrible thing.
How would Berryshine and Cobwebstorm share tongues with StarClan?
What would happen without StarClan for the meanwhile?
Stars, this wasn't good..

The meeting have went..decently..normal, and they didn't really mind Owlstar not picking a deputy yet; everyone needs to have time to grief. It'll most likely come around next meeting anyway, so there was simply no use to fussing about it at all. It's happen, and the clan just needed to be patient; there didn't seem to be anyone causing problems so that was certainly a good sign. Sunsetgleam still hoped that finally Owlstar would be the one to lead the clan to better and for a good long time unlike the past few leader's they've had. Stormstar had put up a good foundation as well, unlike Fadingstar.

But then..the news of the Starcave collapsing. What? They didn't even know that could happen. What effect would that have on the living? On the clan? On..everyone? Would Starclan be..blocked off? Forever? They knew starclan hasn't exactly helped the clan much but..they were their ancestors. The clans ancestors, dead relatives, friends? Sunsetgleam had dead family that was in starclan (well at least they damn hope so). Their parents? Their brother? Those three hadn't been in Sunsetgleam's life since their death, but they were in constant reminder of their brother, if the shadowed edges of their vision and the pair of eyes watching them were anything.

For once, they wondered what was happening within starclan. The afterlife. Was this some sort of..sign? A challenge? A test? For Owstar? Riverclan? Would they even go that far for a mere test? And..it happened without any warning either. No dreams relating to it happening, at least to the warrior's own knowledge. No one..nobody else seem to care. Barely any reactions and..some of them seem..kind of glad, unless Sunsetgleam mis-looked. Didn't seem too nice

Sunsetgleam almost missed the final comment. Right. Coyotes. They had volunteered; and while they didn't like the thought of killing, they knew even if they hadn't, nothing would change. And the warrior just felt the need to. The need to put in more effort as well as to get their mind off of things.

Starrypaw was stunned, to say at least.

The news of two new cats joining the clan wasn't astonishing, but she had no idea that the Starcave had collapsed. Owlstar didn't seem as troubled as she was, and that worried her all the more. How would Riverclan talk to Starclan, now? How would they receive prophecies, warnings, and new lives for their new leader?

The news for the search of Lionhearts seemed to worry her clanmates more than that. They didn't have a deputy, and their leader had only one life. How would they stand tall to the other clans?
Starrypaw would have suggested Owlstar that Riverclan skip the next Gathering to keep the clan safe, but how safe could they be without Starclan? They needed to know what the other clans wanted to do about that. They couldn't be the only ones remaining in the dark, but she couldn't bring herself to speak to Owlstar about that.

Instead, she retreated back to the back of the clearing and crouched down in a loaf, thinking on her own with a worried expression.
