It had been sometime since Acornfall was able to make his way to the quarantined camp. He was worried about his clanmates, especially Weepingwillow and the other kiddos. He knew that Nightwhispers was worried about her and their kits, and neither warrior has had a lot of spare time to make it out here. But now that Bumblestar had lifted the restrictions, it was much easier for him to swing by with some fresh moss in his jaws for new bedding and a bird he managed to catch on the way drapped across his back.

As the brown tabby neared the camp, he set the moss down to free his mouth. "Weepingwillow! Are you there?" He called from outside the camp. The tom scrunched up his face the moment the question left his mouth, what a stupid question that was! If she wasn't here then she was... But he knew she wasn't, she couldn't be. He definitely didn't want to bring news like that back to Nightwhisper. So he waited patiently for Weepingwillow's response to his - incredibly stupidly phrased - question.

Weepingwillow lifted her head. Her beautiful grey and ginger pelt groomed and well though her navy blue eyes tired. "A..acornfall?" The queen mewed. Her trail of being forever queen had ended. She'd enjoyed it but she missed warrior duties so she decided to stay a normal senior queen. "Acornfall! Gosh it's been....a bit to long" she purred. Touching her nose to his cheek in a friendly greeting. "How's Nightwhisper? And Emberkit? " Weepingwillow asked quickly. "Gosh. Were are my manners. Sorry. How are you?" She mewed.

Acornfall purred a greeting to the queen, reaching out to touch noses with her. “Nightwhisper and Emberkit are well. Though they both miss you terribly.” He mewed with a gentle smile. He lifted a paw to bop the moss ball gently. “I brought you some fresh moss for the nests. I know it’s not much…” He meowed, his gaze growing solemn. “I meant to bring some prey too but…I wasn’t able to catch anything.” He admitted with a sigh. He didn’t like that he wasn’t able to bring something more useful.

“I’m doing well.” He purred with a smile. He couldn’t help it. His mind immediately went to Briarmask. “I actually have a mate now.” He felt bad about sharing such good news under such poor circumstances. But he loved talking about Briarmask. It required very little provocation.

“I’m sure Nightwhisper would have loved to come as well, but he’s been keeping himself busy. I wanted to come and check on you and the kits. Thought maybe I could bring some good news back to him! I heard the cure was found so that’s great news! You’ll be coming back soon right?” He looked at Weepingwillow with an expectant and excited sparkle in his eye, completely unaware of what news he was about to receive. “I’m sure Emberkit will be stoked to have his littermates and mother back home!”

Weepingwillow nodded and purred at the Tom's words. "Oooh who's the lucky lady?" The queen teased. Suddenly freezing. "You...have to tell Nightwhisper for me.....Emberkit wont...." swallowing back her grief she murmured. "Cinderkit and Skykit....are dead" The queen meowed. Lowering her gaze as she looked at the ground. "We...we all tried so hard...but there gone.... I...I will be home soon to comfort them. O-oh. Please don't lt him tell Emberkit alone. I know he sounds like he'd be ok but...I wouldn't put it past him to break down. He needs you while I'm not there....o-ok?" Weepingwillow mewed. Accepting his moss with a gentle lick on his shoulder

But then, the entire mood shifted and Acornfall felt his heart stop at the expression in Weepingwillow's face. No...oh StarClan...please no... But his pleas fell on deaf ears. It was too late, Cinderkit was gone now too. Acornfall bowed his head in a moment of silence for the young life, feeling grief well up in his chest. Damn...he was so useless!

Acornfall blinked up at the queen helplessly, and reached out to touch his nose to her ear briefly in a friendly gesture of comfort. "I'm so sorry Weepingwillow...I'll be sure to let Nightwhisper know." He vowed solemnly. "He...he still hasn't told Emberkit about Skykit..." He informed her, his gaze turning again to his paws for a moment before looking back up at her. "But I won't let him tell Emberkit alone. You should be there too." He mewed, and then swallowed. As though swallowing a lump in his throat when he thought of the little kit's expression. "And...I-I would like to be there too..." He added.

"Thank you...." Weepingwillow murmured. "Emberkit knows about Skykit. Though we haven't told him details so he thinks she'll be back.." The queen murmured. Her navy blue hues looking down. Giving a gentle purr of thanks to Acornfalls comforting gesture, "of course. Your family to Nightwhisper so your family to me. And I'm sure Emberkit would need your comfort a bit" The queen pointed out softly. Forcing a gentle purr.

Acornfall nodded at Weepingwillow's thanks, but also waved his tail dismissively. He didn't do it for thanks or reward. His gaze fell when he explained the full situation. Poor scrap... He looked at Weepingwillow with determination in his eyes. "I'll be there for Emberkit every step of the way." He vowed. "And I promise you, I'll keep him safe." By his own life if necessary.
