Talonkit had been padding through the clearing, head held high and chest puffed out. She felt like she was the leader here! And so she strode through the camp, until she heard a familiar voice call her name.
Her head snapped over, Pondlily! Yay! She gave up her confident strut and instead bounded over to the warrior, looking up with joy.

Pondlily touched her nose to the she-kit’s head whenever Talonkit had appeared in front of her. “You’ll be an apprentice here in a moon or two, so I figured I might teach you the hunter’s crouch,” The warrior purred, crouching so she was eye level with Tuftedtusk’s daughter. “What do you think?”

"YES YES YES YES!" Talonkit burst out. She got to learn how to hunt NOW?! She was gonna be the best best warrior AND she was being taught by PONDLILY!!! She beamed with excitement, watching and listening to pondlily to an extend even Talonkit didn't know was possible.

Pondlily’s ears twitched at Talonkit’s yowling—practically right in them, too, where she was crouched down on the ground—but she didn’t mind it. Her whiskers twitched with amusement, and she brushed her tail over the kit’s shoulders as she stood.

“I want you to copy me the best you can, okay?” Pondlily purred softly, dropping into the hunter’s crouch. Her hind legs were tucked close to her belly, and her tail was lifted above the ground ever so slightly.

Talonkit grinned before nodding, crouching down to copy the warrior. She did pretty well, for a kit of course. She had put her legs too close to her body, messing with her balance, and her tail stuck up just a bit too much. Still, Talonkit looked up to Pondlily for approval.

Pondlily stood up and examined Talonkit’s crouch through narrowed, river-blue eyes. She gently pushed her feathery tail down with a paw before nudging her hind paws back just the right distance.

“You did good, but your paws and tail should be where I just adjusted them to be at all times when hunting, all right?” Pondlily nuzzled Talonkit’s ears as not to upset her. “You’re going to make a great hunter; I can already tell.”

Scorpionkit would listen to their relationship. So Bleedingpaw was... family in a way? She'd remember that... she'd definitely remember that. She made a mental note in her brain before Bleedingpaw would move on.

Lining up with her kin, Scorp listened and did exactly as Bleedingpaw said. She was a mild perfectionist right now, so she had to make sure she knew everything before she'd attempt it. So, using all her senses would be important. Her toes wiggled at the mention of feeling vibrations. Scorp hadn't evern considered that before! But she didn't really need to up until this point, huh?

GO GO GO

Huh?! OH! Scorp had been caught up in her thoughts, she reacted to the phrases slower than she normally would. She had to skedaddle! Had to run! Wait- Bleedingpaw was saying something. Be quiet. Ohhh maaaann!! That was hard for the loud-mouthed she-kit! Still, she'd try. Scorp turned tail and ran across the snow, crunching along the way until she was a fair distance from Bleedingpaw.

She slowed her pace, glancing at the spots her siblings were ducking into before she tried to quietly scamper under some bushes. Wait. She looked backwards and noticed her pawprints.

Darn!

Scorpionkit thought quickly, dashing around the bushes once or twice -- time dependent -- before she'd try to dash under the bush.

She'd wiggle, trying to keep the bush from rustling too much, but failing as some of the snow fell to the ground. Unaware of the mistake, though, she successfully got down into the bush roots. She'd shuffle around and turn to face the direction Bleedingpaw would be coming from. It was hard to hold back her breaths and giggles, but she did it!

Now, just to wait.
Watch and wait.

The tom noticed Pondlily talking to his daughter. Trotting up to hear them better, he noticed his former apprentice was teaching his oldest how to do the hunters crouch. Purring, he would lay down and watch them with amusement and pride glimmering in his teal eyes.

Talonkit hadn't noticed that her dad was watching, focusing all the attention she could on Pondlily. She watched as Pondlily adjusted her mock crouch. She kept her paws right here, getting used to the feeling of the crouch.
As pondlily praised her effort, telling her how good a hunter she would be, she beamed, grinning wide and showing her little fangs. She was gonna be the best hunter! Pondlily said it! She would rub this in all her siblings' faces later, but for now, she was happy.
