Foggymask sighed. He had caught Silentpaw asleep, and pulled him into a dream. Taking a good look at his son's pelt, it was clear that they were related. From his pelt to his tounge, they were so similar it hurt. Silentpaw shouldn't have ever been born. It was an accident. He was young and in love. When Clovepool told him she was expecting kits- his kits, he'd panicked and ran. He hoped that she wouldn't have told them, but alas. Here he was. (Properly) Talking to his son for the first time, telling him that he didn't hate him, that he loved him and wished that he hadn't been such a coward, that he did really want him as a son, and just didn't know how to say it for so long. His eyes met Silentpaw's, and a single word escaped his maw.

"Son."

Silentpaw never believed in the afterlife. Never believed in StarClan, never believed in the Dark Forest. But now, he was here, his father standing before him. He didn't know what to think. He didn't know what to do. So, he didn't do anything. When a single word left Foggymask's mouth, the apprentice stayed rooted to the ground, body stiff and unmoving, his usually deadpan eyes slightly widened.

And finally, after way too long of standing completely still, he took a step back, legs shaky. He couldn't believe it. This was a dream. His father was dead. DEAD. There was no way he was here, just standing here like nothing ever happened! That was not how it worked. He was dead. He was supposed to be dead. He isn't supposed to come back! He missed his father, yes. But... He was suppsoed to be dead. They weren't supposed to see him. He was supposed to be dead. How much did he need to tell himself that for the cat standing before him to disappear?

Before he knew it, tears pricked his eyes and his body trembled, his tongue threatening to spill a pitiful noise. This isn't right. Foggymask was dead. His father. His father was dead. This wasn't real. This wasn't real. He wanted to go back.

Foggymask looked at his son, who was clearly very confused. Did his son not believe in StarClan or something. He'd always been good at reading expressions, and he realized that Silentpaw didn't exactly believe it was really him. "It's me. I'm real. StarClan is real, and I'm there." he assured his son. He tapped his tail on the ground, before slowly stepping closer to Silentpaw.
