Right crud Daywhisper was pregnant! Not yet a queen but visibly pregnant, which disallowed her from being on patrol as it was a risk to her heath. Queens post birth could go out after they recovered from kitting (though only on request or necessity) but it was too much of a risk on the health of the kits and mother to do a lot of activity pregnant and tempt the dangers outside of camp.
"Whoops, thats on me Daywhiskers sorry, forgot ya were pregnant. Right ya can head back ta relaxing, maybe finally move inta the nursery. Uuuuuhhhh Rabbitfoot! Yer replacin' Daywhisker on the huntin' patrol ta the sunset grove wit' Russetpounce an' Maggotpaw. Git goin'."

At the call of his name to replace his clanmate on patrol, Rabbitfoot bounded over. ”Of course.” He mewed with a respectful dip of his head. He had needed to be more involved anyways- this was perfect! ”You two ready?” He asked with a tilt of his head to Russetpounce and Maggotpaw. ”If so, let’s go!”

The large she-cat's whiskers twitched as she watched Crowtooth approach her and spoke. She paused, taking in his words. Rest? How could she rest- she had so much to do, she HAD to make sure that she was still pulling her wait, her gaze shot around the clearing quickly before she spoke

"Crowtooth- It's fine- Genuinely, I'm fine, I promise I can do this" She said, a bit quieter than her normal volume. She felt a sharp kick but did her best to hide her grimace. She forced a smile, trying to convince the deputy of her ability and usefulness in this moment. The idea of being confined to the nursery after only getting about 6 moons ago was dreadful, she hated it the first time, and expected she'd hate it just as much if not more this time.

She did a quick scan of the camp, wondering where her replacement for the patrol was, she'd heard the name... maybe once? It sounded familiar but she couldn't put her paw on it.

Crowfeather payed close attention. This was the perfect opportunity to take his mind off things and do what he does best. If the previous patrol failed, he wouldn’t, neither would his partner. He stood tall.“Yes sir, we won’t fail. You can count on us.” He said confidently, smiling. Then, he turned his attention over to his patrol partner.

Bluestrike nodded, breathing out a sigh. He had thought one apprentice was a pawful, but two? That was a lot! He put on a smile, padding over to Birchpaw. Uhm. Birchpaw, right? He mewed, tilting his head. I'm Bluestrike, let's get going. He purred, getting ready to head out of camp.

Maggotpaw's audible before they're visible, reacting to the distant utterance of their name with a shrill and whiny aaaauuughhhhhh!!!!! before finally trudging over. Stupid patrols. It's cold out, doesn't Crowtooth see that? Why would he make anybody do anything when it's so cold? Maggotpaw makes a show of playing up its shivers and looking downright pathetic just to emphasize how wicked and wrong it would be to send it out on a day like this. Only, it's not Maggotpaw that gets to stay back, it's Daywhisper, on account of being full of kits.

Maggotpaw's whiskers twitch and it shoots a bitter, jealous look over at Daywhisper.

"Um Daywhisper's saying no because she's bad so I'm going to stay here and make sure she acts good and doesn't leave." Maggotpaw pulls a totally bogus tattle/excuse-to-stay combo, looking smugly over at Russetpounce and Rabbitfoot.

Berrystorm’s slender dilute tortoiseshell form exited the warriors’ den at Crowtooth’s call. She made her way over to the WindClan Deputy to wait on her patrolmates.

Dustbunny ears perk up as she hears the senior tunneler call her name for patrols, with Vinesmoke and Fleetpaw. They were also going to be hunting in the tunnels. It was rare for the tunneler to be excited by patrols, but she was eager for this. She loved hunting in the tunnels, and even more so with cats she was comfortable with. She couldn't ask for a better team than her former apprentice and her current one.

The fact that she didn't have to lead this patrol was even greater. The brown she-cat blue eyes shimmered with glee as she gave the deputy a soft nod and glanced around for Vinesmoke and Fleetpaw. She hadn't taught Fleetpaw how to hunt in the tunnels yet. So this patrol would be a great training lesson for him.

The deputy didnt really respond to Rabbitfoots approach, too busy with Daywhispers protests, and simply gave the tom a nod before focusing on the should-be-queen. It was odd that someone was protesting not going on a patrol, usually the response was much like Maggotpaw's (who got a stern glare for that nonsense).


Still the tom sighed, trying to be firm even as he internally wailed, he wished more cats were so eager to go but of course the one that did couldnt.
"Imma be frank an' forgive if Im rude but Daywhisper ya look like yer gonna pop any second now. If I let ya out there an' ya kit theres gonna be no medicine cat ta help ya an' yer newborn kittens will be exposed ta the elements which I just cant allow. An' even ignorin' that ya cant run or fight in yer state, what if ya run across a predator?



Its just too risky, yer stayin' here. If ya want somethin' ta do may a bit o' light den construction? We could always do wit' more cats threadin' branches inta the dens an' make it all draft proof in the winter."
And if the activity did prompt Daywhisper to give birth she'd still be in camp and safe.


On the other hand..... "Quit yer yappin' Maggotpaw Ive heard every excuse possible an' yers aint a good one. Git goin', bring back a good haul an' Ill guarantee ya dont 'ave ta go on the next one."
