Patchkit managed to drag himself up the roots and all the way up into Twilightstar's den, after a nap, and after the encounter with Spottedtail. There was something broken with Patchkit, there always has been, but something about it was making things worse and he was having trouble attending his own apprentice ceremonies over it. Even though he was trying, he just didn't understand how anyone could hear anything during clan meetings. There's a roaring whisper and other than the call there, Twilighstar was so quiet, everyone else drowns her out. Something was wrong, and for another thingy, Spottedtail upset him.
Logically, he knew that this was silly. After all, he had complained about Spottedtail threatening to tattle on flickeringkit and his little argument to Twilightstar and Crowtooth and now he's telling her the same thing. But something about Sunny's reassurance that that whole thing wasn't his fault made him feel like maybe he should tell an adult about what Spottedtail did. "Twilightstar." He called into the den as he walked into the space, on why he was whispering he was sure that he wasn't whispering, he didn't feel like he was whispering. Did she hear him? "Twilightstar!" It was bordering on a shout, at least, for everyone but Patchkit it was. It didn't quite reach his ears like it should.
"Spottedtail was being mean to me and Flickeringkit in the nursery! She was... she was..." He frowned at himself, did he even get a right to complain about happenings in a nursery he should have moved out of two moons ago? No, perhaps not for himself, but for the sake of the other kits he should. "Well, I was trying to sleep, because I was upset about the uhm.. the last meeting, and she startled me awake. And I told her to leave me alone because I wasn't feeling good." He almost started feeling upset again, but he was better than he did when he retold the story to Sunny not too long ago.
"And then she kept saying that she could tell I was upset, and kept asking after why, and I told her I didn't wanna talk to her about it because I don't know her very well. I wanted to tell you or or um Sunny about it first because I don't want everyone to know that I am broken yet." He frowned, fur raising a smidge as he stared down at his paws, thinking about the warrior again, and her whatever her attitude was. "And rather than leaving me alone like I asked her too like a million times, she was like 'ask Twilightstar about me being your mentor' and I was like no! I don't wanna. Then Flickeringkit showed up and told me to stop being mean, but Spottedtail was being mean to me first."
"Then me and Flickeringkit got into a argument, nothing crazy, but then Spottedtail threatened to tell you and Crowtooth about it and I got upset because you're already upset with me being broken and missing two of my ceremonies, and I asked her why she was even in the nursery because she wasn't a queen, and she didn't have any kits in there. She said that if I woke up any other kits or queens I would be in trouble but that doesn't seem fair because she woke me up!" He paused to take a long deep breath because of how much he forwent the necessary action in his rant, his tiny, almost bobbed tail lashing ( more like wagging ) behind him in a show of anger.
"And theeeeen Sunnypurr showed up and he took me to the warriors den to get away from her, and he said that Spottedtail shouldn't have done that, and I don't want her being rude or whatever that was to the other kits!"
* He poked his head into Twilightstar's den and called for his leader. *
" Twilightstar? Crowtooth said you wanted to see me? "
* He was quite nervous. he had not met his leader since he joined the clan. He wondered how she would speak with him on a manner he had forgotten about. *

Daffodilpaw was devastated when Twilightstar expressed she didn’t believe her. She had lost the trust of her clan leader, surely disappointed StarClan, she was a failure. There was no recovering from this moment. She felt like her blood had turned to ice. “Twilightstar, I swear to you, I only met him twice. And I had no idea! It never crossed my mind that a warrior could develop feelings for an apprentice!” Her voice was solemn and serious, and she maintained eye contact. Praying that Twilightstar would see she was being sincere. “I’ve been so pre-occupied with training, and mom going missing, I haven’t even given thought to love or mates…”
This was true. She couldn’t remember ever having a crush herself, never mind being able to detect if another cat had feelings for her. “I know that going out at night was not…a good decision. And seems suspicious. You…you have no obligation to believe me.” She murmured, finally breaking eye contact to look at her paws. Shoulders hunched. She felt like she was drowning in her shame. “I have brought shame to the clan…I am unworthy of your trust… I’d understand completely if you don’t believe me.”
She looked back up at Twilightstar as her leader mused out loud. She shook her head, unable to provide any answer. “I honestly couldn’t tell you…I haven’t been to a Gathering since that last time I saw him. And I haven’t been going out for runs at night either so I don’t know… When we did talk we never really talked much about much other than our families. I think he asked me about my training once…but I don’t remember.” She explained. “To me, he was just a RiverClan warrior… I never discussed clan business with him, and I had no idea he thought of me as anything other than a WindClan apprentice.” Daffodilpaw had shared all she could. There was nothing else to say. She couldn’t beg her leader to believe her, she didn’t have the right. Sneaking out at night, even just to escape from her stressors and clean her head, was crime enough. She knew that, her guilty feeling told her that when she did it.
“I don’t have the right to ask you to believe me…all I can do is beg for your forgiveness. And the opportunity to earn your trust again.” Daffodilpaw said this with conviction, and bowed her head as she spoke in hopes of conveying that to her leader. WindClan and her family meant everything to her. The code was the air she breathed. She’d been selfish and reckless, and now all that was left was for her to repent.
She was surprised when Twilightstar brought up Snowybreeze. She hadn’t realized he felt that way! Her eyes widened in shock. “N-No! Bluestrike invited me to do the assessment with Bouncepaw, and I assumed that Snowybreeze knew…oh no… I never meant…” Failure. Yet again. I don’t deserve to be a warrior… She closed her eyes, lowering her head. “I should’ve checked with him myself first instead of assuming that Bluestrike had…I really wanted him to show me how to use my nose like he does…” She looked up at Twilightstar again, unsure what else to say for her failure. “I…I really don’t want a new mentor…” But that wasn’t up to her. Snowybreeze had requested she be reassigned. She had hurt his feelings and now he didn’t want to train her anymore. She’d failed him too. Of course he wouldn’t want to train her anymore after she’d caused him such pain and insult. I’ll need to apologize to him, explain things! I don’t want him to internalize something like this.
Right now, Daffodilpaw didn’t feel like doing much of anything. She wasn’t sure what Twilightstar would say now, but it felt like her whole world was washing away from her. She’d failed everyone and everything that was ever important to her. She failed the clan, her family, StarClan, Snowybreeze, everyone. She didn’t deserve forgiveness or second chances. She wouldn’t be surprised if Twilightstar sent such a pitiful excuse for a cat away from the clan…what use was a warrior that she couldn’t trust? Oh StarClan…I don’t want to lose WindClan… But if you see fit to send me from your sight, then I will understand.
The pale yellow apprentice, feeling smaller and frailer than she ever had before, took a breath before looking to Twilightstar. She had one final thing to say. “I will accept any punishment without question, Twilightstar. Even if…even if you don’t want me here anymore…” She stifled a whimper at the mere thought of leaving the clan she loved so much. But if that was Twilightstar’s decision then she’d accept it. “I know…I understand that as a leader you can’t have warriors you don’t trust. I’m unworthy of forgiveness for the pain I’ve caused by my selfishness. And while I would want nothing more than the opportunity to earn your trust again I don’t have the right to make such a request…” She felt like there was more, so much more, that she wanted to say. But those words summed everything up pretty well.
All there was to do now, was to await Twilightstar’s decision.
After hearing the she-cat out, the leader's tail tip twitched irritably. She still didn't like this and felt little sympathy for the she-cat's actions getting her into trouble. Twilightstar had run out of sympathy for cats and their foolish mishaps no long after she lost Fallownose. She had no more sympathy to give her clanmates.
Still, she sounded sincere, and although this was quite the big mistake and secret that Twilightstar was dead set on believing would never have come to light if not for Stormstar, she tempered her mistrust as best she could. "I'm not exiling you, you're still young and have time to learn from your mistakes. I don't like that you withheld the truth nor that if Stormstar hadn't brought it to my attention I wouldn't have known anything about it. You obviously had no intention of ever speaking to me about it. I hate liars and I hate deception. I can't lead you if I can't trust you." Twilightstar spoke quietly though sternly.
"You're getting two extra moons as an apprentice, and you're banned from the gatherings until you receive your warrior name. If I hear that you ever seen outside of camp without a warrior or direct orders, I will exile you from the clan." She replied coldly. "I would use you're extra time as an apprentice to reflect on your wrongdoings, and focus on earning the trust you've lost back." Twilightstar was tempted to make two moons three, but the fact that the leader no longer trusted her was an added punishment so there was no need to go beyond that.
"Unfortunately yours and Bluestrike's lack of communication with Snowybreeze has already done its damage. I had been hoping that you two would get along well and form a strong bond as mentor and apprentice, but as I've already promised him to reassign you I won't be going back on my word. From the sounds of it, you're done with all your training anyway if you're already taking care of your assessment. Even so, I'm not comfortable not having some responsibility for you, I'll be reassigning you at the next meeting. You may go." She meowed dismissively.
[I got your pm, I figured I get this done first to take the edge off your anxiety. So Twi will not hold Daffodil's warrior ceremony till after February even if she finishes her assessment.

Magnoliakit stood at the base of the great maple tree, her pale gaze drifting upward toward the hollow that served as Twilightstar’s den. The massive trunk stretched high above her, its surface dappled with the light of the late afternoon sun. WindClan’s leader resided in the natural hollow nestled within the trunk, a space that overlooked much of the camp below. To most, it was a symbol of strength and wisdom—a fitting home for a leader—but to Magnoliakit, it felt distant, almost unapproachable. Her paws shifted restlessly in the dirt, brushing against the faint grooves worn into the earth by countless others who had stood here before her. The climb to the den wasn’t daunting in a physical sense; she had scrambled up trees and rocks before, her small frame surprisingly nimble for her age. No, what weighed on her was the thought of facing Twilightstar herself. Leaders weren’t like ordinary warriors. They carried the Clan’s burdens, made the impossible decisions, and held an air of authority that Magnoliakit wasn’t entirely sure how to navigate. But there was something she needed to say—something that had been tugging at her ever since the quiet of the morning. Magnoliakit drew in a slow breath, her chest rising as she steadied herself. She could do this. If she wanted to be the kind of cat others could look to one day, she needed to start somewhere.
Finally, she dug her claws into the bark, testing the tree’s surface before beginning her ascent. The climb was methodical, her movements deliberate as she scaled the towering maple. The rough bark scraped against her pads, but the texture was reassuring in a way, grounding her as she ascended. When she reached the hollow, Magnoliakit paused just outside, crouching on the thick, curved edge of the entrance. The inside of the den was quiet and still, the faint scent of moss and leaf-mold mingling with the stronger, steady scent of Twilightstar herself. The smooth floor and walls seemed to absorb the sounds of the world outside, creating an almost sacred silence. A mossy nest rested against one side, its surface well-worn but neatly arranged, and the filtered light gave the den a warm, muted glow. It felt... safe here. Peaceful. “Twilightstar?” she called softly, her voice breaking the stillness. Though she tried to sound steady, there was a hesitance in her tone that betrayed her nerves. Her claws flexed slightly against the edge of the hollow as she leaned in, careful not to overstep. “It’s… it’s Magnoliakit. I was wondering if we could talk for a moment.” Her tail curled tightly around her small frame, a habit she had when she felt uncertain.
The stillness of the den only amplified her own thoughts, and she had to force herself not to overthink. This wasn’t the time to second-guess herself. Whatever Twilightstar’s response, she knew she had to try. Conversations like this were rare, and the chance to speak with WindClan’s leader directly felt like an opportunity she couldn’t let slip away.
Her claws worked in rhythmic motions, dragging along the smooth wood and leaving ugly scratches behind. The WindClan leader was settled further in the back of the den clawing at the wooden wall to sharpen her claws and to relieve some of her more troubling emotions. Her full ears twisted as far as it could toward the entrance of her den picking up the sound of claws digging into the trunk.
Unless they were too small to make the leap or Crowtooth, she brought her front paws back down on the ground and turned to face the entrance. Her single eye blinked at the tiny silhouette balance at the entrance of her den. At first glance, she thought it was Coldkit, but the thought vanished as quickly as it rose when she found a set of blue eyes. As she stepped away from the threshold, the pelt shimmered a solid white and Twilightstar wondered how she had mistaken her as her daughter.
"If you'd like to talk I'm all ears." Her voice drifted from the back of the den as the leader stepped closer to her nest and into the light that bled through the opening. She took a seat in the nest, enjoying the warmth soaked into the moss that seeped into her paws. She fought the urge to nip at her front claws to remove slivers of wood still stuck on the nails. "So what is that you need, Magnoliakit." Twilightstar asked, dropping down into a crouch so listening and talking to the kit was easier.
Patchkit managed to drag himself up the roots and all the way up into Twilightstar's den, after a nap, and after the encounter with Spottedtail. "And theeeeen Sunnypurr showed up and he took me to the warriors den to get away from her, and he said that Spottedtail shouldn't have done that, and I don't want her being rude or whatever that was to the other kits!"
This den was not a kit repellent at all. The leader thought turning her head towards the opening to see a kit pop his head over the edge. Once he had finished climbing into the den, she recognized little Patchkit's coloring. Well, she supposed he wasn't that little anymore. He was supposed to have his ceremony a couple of moons ago, but he missed out on the last one. She's been meaning to ask why that was.
The lilac-gray she-cat opened her maw to greet him but was interrupted by the kit's call. Once and then twice, the second being unreasonably loud. Her ears dropped back firmly against her head. Before she could tell him to lower the volume, he started talking. Spottedtail was being mean to kits? Wha? Why was she even in the nursery? Questions danced around her head, but she pushed them aside to listen to the rest of Patchkit's concerns.
Oh, so he had noticed that he missed his chance at his apprentice ceremony again. They were going to have to come back to that. Well, it started as well-meaning with Spottedtail but turned into her being nosy. Hang on, wait broken what did he mean by broken? Her eye narrowed in concern as she surveyed the kit as he went on. Was he sick? He didn't look sick her smell sick. Perhaps it was something mild? They might need to visit Lightningstorm after this if he hadn't already.
So Flickeringkit showed up, and an argument ensued, Spottedtail was demanding training rights and threatening to tell on Kits for arguing. And thankfully Sunnypurr showed up. Well, at least she knew who to pick to train Patchkit once he became an apprentice. She was debating whether she should exile Spottedtail for intimidating kits for no reason, or if banning her from the nursery and demotion would be better.
"Well, that was quite the story. I'll deal with Spottedtail. Sunnypurr is correct Spottedtail should not be bothering you or any kit like that. She certainly shouldn't be demanding that you become her apprentice either. I'm not sure what was going through her head when she threatened to tell on you over something so small. But whatever the reason it's unacceptable. I'll make sure she won't cause any trouble for you or the kits in the future." Twilightstar did want to kick her out, but it might be more humbling being banned from the nursery and kits and demoted for a few moons.
"But what's this about being broken and not feeling well? Are you sick or hurt somewhere? Did you visit Lightingstorm?" If he was unwell that would explain why he wasn't at his former ceremony, but the he also missed out on the one before that too. She would like to get to the bottom of that but first his well-being.

"Swiftleap," She greets the tom as he enters her den. She had heard Crowtooth's meows regarding Bunnybounce as it was hard to miss. She knew that Crowtooth was somewhat fond of the tom, but she hasn't seen much of him since he first joined the clan. It was clear he was rather dedicated to the tom for bringing him in, but she wished he'd show the same respect he had for Crowtooth to her as well.
She couldn't help but feel a little slighted considering that if Crowtooth hadn't told him to come here she most likely wouldn't have gotten him in her den. "Yes, I did call you here to see me, although the fact that my deputy had to point that out is irritating. I summoned you at a past meeting for your warrior ceremony and to officially accept you into the clan, but it seems you didn't hear me or weren't paying attention. Then I called you to my den at the last meeting, and again it seems you didn't hear anything about it, but as I saw you at the meeting it seems you decided to ignore my order."
See, it was hard not to feel disrespected here. It was rubbing the clan leader's fur wrong in the worst way. "I can't help but feel like you're ignoring me and being exceedingly disrespectful." She wasn't sure if he was hoping Crowtooth would vouch for him or that just because Crowtooth liked him, she wouldn't kick him back out of the clan. "Also, did Crowtooth not tell you that you're not supposed to be leaving camp alone?'
Daffodilpaw felt a hollow sense of relief when Twilightstar said she wasn't exiling her. At least...at least she had that. It was true, she probably wouldn't have brought it up to Twilightstar without provocation. Because she didn't see at the time how problematic it could be. But she did now...not that it mattered at the moment. She flinched sharply each time her leader said the word "hate", hearing instead that Twilightstar hated her instead the action. You're filthy. Nothing but a liar. Useless. You deserve to be hated. She looked up only when Twilightstar finished describing her punishment, and nodded understandingly. It was more than she deserved.
But her heart broke all over again when Twilightstar said it was too late for her and Snowybreeze. "I...I understand..." She murmured, and she did. But it didn't take the sting off. She'd have to find a time, any time, to find Snowybreeze and apologize. Whether it was something Twilightstar asked of her or not, she needed Snowybreeze to understand that she didn't think poorly of him. And that he was a great warrior.
When Twilightstar dismissed her, she didn't have any more words. She only dipped her head and padded out of the leader's den, tail dragging behind her.
[OOC: Thank you! I'm sorry lol, I really appreciate your flexibility and understanding of my brain's issues. ]
Patchkit was happy that Twilightstar was listening to him but also that thought made him feel a little guilty, she was a good leader, of course she was going to listen when there was some mean warrior bothering the nursery. It also made him a bit guilty to think about how Spottedtail to be in trouble, but she would probably just be put in the corner or something after a scolding. Wait.. do warriors get put in time out? Whatever! Thought for another time, and while he really didn't wanna talk about the meetings yet or his brokenness he figured he couldn't just back out now. Not after Twilightstar asked him.
"I'm not sick!" On second thought... The kitten frowned and looked down at his paws as he tried to think about his days and the meetings again, no.. he wasn't sick. Or maybe it was a sickness he didn't know well at all. "I'm not coughing or umm anything." He added on, that's all he knew sick as. Some of the kittens were getting the sniffles in the nursery, especially one of those Snowybreeze kittens that the nursery is weirdly obsessed with. "I just.. I'm broken!" Growing frustrated with his lack of ability to word his thoughts properly led the kitten to pouting, huffing. He couldn't listen and now he couldn't speak.
"I can.. uhm usually hears you when you call meetings together. Because everyone isn't all in one spot. But then when I go out and try and follow along, all the talking and stuff mixes together and I can't tell what from who... So maybe I'm sick but like my ears are sick, not me. Though it doesn't make sense, I don't know how anyone hears anything when everyone is talking and you are being quiet, I just can't tell what's happening." His ears pinned as he lashed his tail twice before he stilled the movement. There was something wrong with him because everyone else was fine during meetings, they listened and they responded, everyone but Patchkit forever.
[ @Moonraven ]
[ So! Patchkit has been losing his hearing. While not deaf, his hearing has been declining for the past couple moons. He can hear, though on average 'regular' talking volume is similar to a whisper. Crowds can be even harder for him, being almost unable to discern different voices and sounds from each other. ]
* He dipped his head to Twilightstar and responded. *
" I am sorry Twilightstar. My mind was wandering those meetings when you called. I was intent on listening, but my mate had drawn my attention and I was worried about her extended consequences if she had not completed her punishment from Crowtooth. As for my actions of leaving camp to pursue Bunnybounce. I had suspicions of what was going on, but I wanted to find out for myself. I recalled that I was not allowed out of camp without a clanmate to accompany myself, but my loyalty to the clan willed me to follow and report any misgivings. "
* He replied and looked down at his paws before making eye contact with his leader. *
