Big dog, little dog, not dog [p]

Even before Mudhound got horribly sick they'd been feeling a little down at how little time they'd been able to spend with Wolfpaw of late. Life got busy at times sure, and Wolfpaw had a big important job that didnt ever stop, but Mudhound still wanted their puppy! Where was the nice quality cuddle time! Where was tripod playtime!

This would not stand, Mudhound would make sure the hornet and their ex apprentice got to spend time together, even if that started with an ambush.

And it did.

Planted outside the medicine cats den, fluffy butt wiggling in the air and bushy tail wagging Wolfpaw had only to step outside the den, unaware of what was coming, before he was yoinked by the maine coon and squirreled away from duties in a flash. It wasnt a difficult kidnapping, though perhaps a loud one if Wolfpaw complained, given the size difference. And soon enough the tom was bundled into Mudhounds nest, enveloped by fluffy happy hornet as they chirped "Heya puppy! Its been too long, I missed you! Hows medicine cat stuff, you doing alright, eating enough? You feel too skinny eat this squirrel, here."

When wolfpaw went out of his den to get some sun, the last thing he expected was an ambush. The medicine cat let out a loud yelp has he was carried away. It was only when his kitnapper spoke did wolfpaw realize what was happening. Mudhound, of course it was his former mentor. "Muddy, what the heck!?" the medicine cat complained, but still snuggling up next to his mentor. "It's good to see ya though," he purred, shaking his head as he listened to his former mentor bombard him with questions. "It's goin fine I guess, I just ate a bit ago, and i'm not skinny!" he protested, pushing the squirrel away. "You can have it," he said, offering the hornet the prey instead.

'Not skinny' not skinny Mudhound fluffy butt! Mudhounds little mini-me should be plump to grow big and strong and remain warm through the coming leafbare so the squirrel would be eaten even if in snackish bites. They'd just have to be tricky about it (well, about as tricky as the bumbling Muddy could possibly be).

"What the heck is that we've not been able to spend any time together and thats no good! Medicine cat or not youre my kiddo and that comes with mandatory snuggling!"
Hence, Wolfpaw being encircled in warm purring ex mentor, buried in fluff as his face was attacked and groomed gently.

"How you doing puppy? I was close to Springlight once and Drizzlecloud is still a friend so Ive heard from them how taxing being a medicine cat is. You can tell me anything and even if Im not officially your mentor anymore you know Ill support you in every way I can.

Tell me everything kiddo, the good the bad I wanna know it all- here taste this I think the squirrel was eating a lotta acorns it tastes different hehe."
It was a kinda lie that last part, the rodent did taste nutty but it was also a great excuse to get him to eat a bite as well. And if Muddy was eating what was now 'their' squirrel more slowly then they inhaled their normal meals? Well it was because they were talking a lot! Thats all~
