cobwebfern was half-numb as she let herself be bustled into the medicine den. she wasn't very hurt, really- but the immense trauma of confronting.. him.. and then.. killing him.. had fractured her heart. she felt sick. she barely heard anything, the static in her ears drowning out whatever tried to get through. she slumped into her nest, helped by primrosepa-adder. at the loss of contact she whimpered, curling into herself and trying very hard not to start crying again.
this pursuit was unsuccessful, however, because upon laying eyes on berryshine, cobwebfern burst into tears. she couldn't get her mouth to work, her brain and vocal cords to work together to make coherent words. berryshine looked like concern incarnate, her voice desperate, and cobweb's sobs worsened. she was making her best friend's life worse. she hated herself, she hated this, she hated this, she hated this!!

Caveclaw gave a nod as she walked in when Berryshine said what she was here for and all that.
"No pain from what I can tell." They replied "Definitely feels weaker, but it doesn't hurt anymore."
She was glad it had seemed to have healed decently fine, no bumps in the road or anything.
She didn't flinch away when Berry poked the leg, as there was no pain.

She / Her ; 13 Moons
As Cobwebfern´s sobs worsened, Primroseadder slowly but surely curled herself around the medicine cat apprentice and began to wash her ears in a comforting manner. ´´It´s okay, Cobwebfern...´´ She murmured every few heartbeats. ´´It´s okay...´´
Berryshine felt hopeful at first when Drizzlepaw focused on her tail, but she quickly realized he simply thought she was playing — and, of course, didn't have the heart to stop at first, letting out a somber sigh as she felt it in her chest. No, Drizzlepaw couldn't hear a thing... he'd only responded to the visual and physical stimulation, nothing auditory.
She glanced up at Adderstrike, giving her a sympathetic glance. "...I... think you're right. You've never heard Drizzlepaw say any actual words, have you?" She paused as that crossed her mind, frowning thoughtfully. She tilted her head, still flicking her tail in front of Drizzle, an idea slowly coming to mind.
"M-Maybe... we can still communicate with him, somehow. He can still see and feel just fine, it seems, s-so maybe... there'd be a way to give signals as a way to... talk to him? In a sense?" Berryshine wasn't quite sure if that all made sense, as she had a tendency to ramble and not always formulate her thoughts coherently. But she drew her tail back away from Drizzle's batting paws, trying to catch his attention again.
Silently the she-cat raised her tail with a little flick of greeting, offering a soft smile, trying to communicate a 'hello'. Maybe Drizzlepaw would get it, try and greet back? This was all new territory... but it was an idea they could try, at least.
[ additionally: i found this as for some suggestions of sign language that maybe adder could try and implement for drizzlepaw? and berry could help brainstorm some ideas and training? : ) lmk any thoughts here or in vm <3 ]
Drizzlepaw would flick his ear as he looked at her inquisitively Drizzlepaw's tail would also twitch the kit turned apprentices brain was trying to process what was happening. First she moved her mouth like he has seen other cats before do then she stopped playing with him only to raise her tail and flick it. Drizzlepaw didn't understand but he would copy the movement he saw the bigger she-cat do. Drizzlepaw felt like he saw this cat around the camp. But given the fact he didn't have a name to put to the face not that he realized even he had a name he didn't really try to communicate further. @squidz @Fish
That was unfortunate that Drizzlepaw would never be able to hear but she tried not to dwell on sadness too much. What she needed to do was take charge and teach Drizzlepaw the best that she could. "Well good thing I was starting to think of someways to communicate with the deaf. Nothing full fledged yet though." Adderstrike said as she looked to Drizzlepaw and wave the tip of her tail at him with a smile before looking back to Berryshine. "Thank you for taking the time to do this for me... Well mostly Drizzlepaw as he will be the one that gains the most from this."
"C'mon Drizzlepaw, let's go out to train." Adderstrike purred to him while motioning her tail to Drizzlepaw, then to herself.

this takes place at a separate time than the other roleplays in the den <3 !!
cobwebfern was holding back panic in favor of being a very, very sane source of comfort in this stressful situation. she went over the mental checklist she had constructed for times like these.
number one! assess the situation. okay. so. two kits dead. that was fine, it was fine, and there was no time to be scared or worried about this or cry because she needed to heal and look cool doing it. cobwebfern squinted, glancing around quickly. rainsong in emotional distress, and blueberryfrost's nose scratched at by the hawk's talons. step one complete, cobwebfern brought herself mentally back together and moved onto step two.
number two! gather materials. cobwebs needed to stop the bleeding, poppy seeds for pain and shock, and some lavender to calm down rainsong. okay. she had this under control. quickly shutting her eyes, inhaling and exhaling, cobweb made her way over to the dead kit inside the den and gently picked them up, almost bursting into tears. she brought the kit's body over to a corner of the den to get it out of sight and out of the way- and to deal with later.
number three! use materials and help however you can. cobweb picked up the lavender and knelt down next to the sobbing queen, gently placing a tail on her back to ground her. ' hey, rainsong. i'm so sorry about your loss.. i will be honest, it's going to hurt bad. when it all kicks in.. the grief, i mean. but.. i know what it's like to lose someone. so.. i'm always here if you need me. alright..? ' she swallowed, eyes briefly flashing to images of feather. stars, she missed feather.
' do you mind- stormstar- or brokenstream, i don't mind- holding this under her nose? just for a little while. the smell of lavender is calming.. it should help her out a little bit while i tend to blueberryfrost- thank you- ' cobwebfern spoke in a stream of words, babbling on to calm herself down but also to ground the panicked folks in the den- she had found it was easier to focus on someone else's talking other than your own panic and grief.
letting whoever was going to take it take the lavender, cobwebfern passed it over and then turned to blueberryfrost, concern knitting her gaze. ' hawk got you pretty bad, huh? ' she spoke softly to the older warrior, swathing her paw in cobwebs and starting to pat them gently into the wound. ' this should help a bit- but in case it doesn't, could you swallow one of these poppy seeds for me? it'll help with the pain. '

Rainsong couldn't hear anything, everything sounded muffled. She was stating to go in a state of shock. Her eyes staring at nothing but the ground.

Berryshine nodded to Adderstrike, pleased to hear that the young warrior had already been brainstorming some ideas. She seemed confident enough in her abilities going forward, so the medicine cat relaxed a bit, even managing a soft smile.
"Good... I'm glad to hear. If I can be o-of any assistance, please let me know," she mewed pleasantly to Adderstrike, giving a dip of her head in farewell to both, watching them go. This may prove to be a challenge... but not one that they would shy away from. And Berryshine was sure that with the right minds and ideas put together, they could manage this just fine... she hoped.
Caveclaw gave a nod as she walked in when Berryshine said what she was here for and all that.

Berryshine sighed in relief. Good! No unordinary pain, no bumps, nothing awkward about the way it healed other than the obvious weakness that would entail breaking the same leg twice. Giving it another once-over, once the medicine cat was satisfied, she backed up and glanced up at Caveclaw.
"That's good. As long as it's not giving you any more trouble, you should be free to move about. Just make sure y-you're not doing too much at once, especially while you work on strengthening it back up, o-okay? Make sure you're eating and drinking enough, as well as doing stretches for it. I-It won't quite ever be the same after being broken twice, so don't think you'll have as much power and strength in that leg like you used to." Berryshine blinked down at the leg with a thoughtful hum. "A-And... if it ever starts bothering you again, stop whatever you're doing and you come tell me right away, okay?"
With that she dismissed the Lionheart with a flick of her tail, silently grateful that her first official take on a broken limb hadn't turned out badly. Thank the stars Fawnlight had helped her. It was nice to have a little confidence boost going forward for once.

Seeing Cobwebfern burst into tears was enough to make Berryshine's heart wrench in her chest. Her own bright green eyes got misty at the sight. Killed... the word that Primroseadder said echoed in Berry's head, making her all the more confused. She quickly realized the terror of whatever had happened to her friend was worse than the wounds, as only a few scratches lined Cob's pelt under all that blood. As Primroseadder tried to help soothe the medicine cat apprentice, Berryshine swallowed against the lump that had budded in her throat; thank the stars that most of that blood didn't seem to be her own. Staunching the bleeding with moss, Berryshine helped clean away the thankfully-minor scratches before starting to paw over some marigold.
"I-It's okay, Cob, you... don't need to talk now, just... it's gonna be alright. Y-You're safe now, okay?" Berry made a point to meet Cobwebfern's light blue eyes, holding her gaze as if to convey as much sincerity as possible. She had no clue what happened, but the poignant odor of rogue and blood clinging to the traumatized Cob's pelt gave her an idea. "Y-You're safe. I'm gonna put some marigold on, so it's gonna sting a little... b-but you're alright. No one's gonna hurt you here..."
Berryshine had no real clue if her comfort was working, but it spilled out naturally from her lips, heart pounding as she fought to stay steady. She'd been gradually getting better at being a more 'stable' force in the midst of stressful situations, since being a medicine cat threw a lot of those at you. But seeing your own best friend in such a shape was enough to shake any reasonably stoic cat, let alone someone with more of a... shaky temperament, like Berryshine. But somehow, by the stars above, she was able to suck in a deep breath and get to work on chewing that marigold into a poultice.
Once she spat the mixture onto the few actual scratches Cobwebfern had, Berry gingerly rubbed it in with a small paw, being as gentle as possible for the trembling she-cat. Then she plastered some cobwebs on there, binding up the wound and its dressing as much as possible, her paws trembling but steady enough to do an alright job.
Once it was done, the small brown molly exhaled shakily, her eyes trying to search her friend's troubled gaze and look her over. Her mind raced with questions, so many things she wanted to know about what happened — but for now she knew it would do no good for any interrogation. Cobs would speak when she could. For now... Berryshine simply curled up by Cobwebfern's other side, nestling against her flank for comfort, trying to steady her gray-and-white friend as much as possible.
"Shh.... breathe... i-it's okay..." She murmured softly. And except for the gentle assurances, Berry remained quiet in the den as she silently prayed for Cobwebfern to be able to calm down, helping soothe her to an equilibrium... or as much as it was going to be. Stars... it hurt to see her like this.
