Ducking into the den but staying near the entrance, the leader let her eyes adjust before they surveyed the scene. Brokenstream and Blueberryfrost were here, as well as Rainsong. Frustration bubbled up in her at the sight; Bluekit lay limp on the floor, while Rainsong was mumbling stuff to herself over and over. Flattening her ears, the leader cleared her throat. "...'M sorry, 'bout Bluekit 'n Frozenkit." Her voice was quiet as she glanced at her paws, then at the lifeless kit. It made no sense... hawks never came near the ocean!
"There's nothin' for a medicine cat to do," she told Blueberryfrost as she padded forward and peered down at Bluekit. It was clear as day that the kit was already with StarClan as she leaned down and pressed her nose gently to the growing-cold fur. Lifting her head she glanced at Brokenstream, then Blueberryfrost. Her nose looked.... yeesh. "Go on 'n head back outside 'n help Seabreeze make sure the kits stay in the nursery. Hawks never come this far to the ocean, so I doubt there'll be anymore, but I need you 'n the rest of the Lionhearts on alert right now." Giving the tom a nod, Stormstar peered into the den. "Cobs? Berries? Got some patients for you." Where were those two?
accepted!! you may post a starter in the medicine den and tag primrose & adder . berry's never directly dealt with a deaf cat so she won't know how best to handle things and this will be her learning experience hehe. and she can definitely diagnose storm!
The meeting was over and it was time to get things checked out with her new apprentice. Adderstrike excited to try some of the ideas she had in her head already to train a deaf cat, but maybe the medicine cats would have an idea as well. The warrior pawed Drizzlepaw and motioned him to follow her, Once she actually walked into the den she felt her breath get caught. That's right... Still Adderstrike didn't want to see that there was new cats here. "Hey... Um, can anyone help me? I think Drizzlepaw is deaf..." Adderstrike struggled to talk and had to dance around not saying any medcats names.
Drizzlepaw would feel the bigger cat touch him with their paw as he was staring at a bug on the ground as it crawled towards him. Drizzlepaw was preparing to bat at the beetle before he was distracted his tail twitching a bit as he looked over towards the cat that was Adderstrike but simultaneously didn't know that was the name of the cat instead he only saw the bigger cat want him to follow them. Drizzlepaw would trust the cat in question since they gave them no reason not to and followed to a den he could smell some odd smells in the den that made him wiggle his nose as it agitated it before he sneezed. Drizzlepaw had no idea how any cat handled these harsh smells he hoped he wouldn't have to stay in here. @Fish @squidz

| BERRYSHINE |
small & nimble dark brown she-cat with darker flecks and light, leafy-green eyes | the collector | dreamwalker |
Berryshine's ears perked up as she heard Adderstrike's cautious voice, turning at once to see the young mentor in with her apprentice. Dipping her head in greeting, she padded over towards the duo, a concerned frown gracing her maw.
"Deaf...?" She echoed worriedly, coming to take a seat in front of Drizzlepaw. She was quiet for several moments, observing how the apprentice was looking around, not quite responding to their voices and only their gestures he saw or felt. Hm... she'd never directly dealt with a deaf cat before. How could one hope to properly communicate with somecat who couldn't hear you? She was sure there were ways, but she was at a loss for them. Well... she had to try something, first, just to make sure.
"Drizzlepaw... i-if you can hear my voice, look at me."
Berryshine waited to see if he'd responded, then flicked her tail a bit in front of Drizzle's muzzle, as if trying to catch his attention and repeated her order gently. Leafy-green eyes cautiously scanned for any move or flicker in his eyes that may indicate that he could see or hear anything she was saying, a tightness beginning to form in her chest.

she and Cobwebfern have a semi-closed den policy.
Drizzlepaw- He/Him, 4 moons old, Riverclan Apprentice, No purrks.
Drizzlepaw wouldn't register Berrypaw's words in the slightest it wasn't until the cat started to wave her tail in front of him that he would start looking at her tail his eyes beginning to fixate on it thinking she was trying to play with him he would paw at it he wouldn't use his claws though and he would also paw rather softly as he used to hate his siblings batting his tail roughly it was uncomfortable. Drizzlepaw was usually a very gentle cat but he was still young and still a kit essentially in age. Drizzlepaw would roll onto his back continuing to paw at her tail as long as Berrypaw allowed. It was to note though that through his entire life Drizzlepaw had never said a real word at all. @squidz @Fish
Caveclaw decided it was probably about time for her leg to be checked on.
The thing felt pretty okay now, and it'd been a while.
So, the lykoi-mix approached the medicine den, and stood outside of it for a moment, not quite intruding since this wasn't an emergency. "Hello." She called inside simply, not really a question, just more of something to let whoever inside know she was there, because, again, not really an emergency.

Primroseadder gently helped a wounded Cobwebfern into the medicine den and into her nest before looking around for Berryshine´s familiar, solid-brown pelt. ´´Berryshine?´´ The dark-cream-and-white warrior called out, her emerald hues bright with worry for the gray-and-white Bengal. ´´Cobwebfern is hurt.´´

Berryshine felt hopeful at first when Drizzlepaw focused on her tail, but she quickly realized he simply thought she was playing — and, of course, didn't have the heart to stop at first, letting out a somber sigh as she felt it in her chest. No, Drizzlepaw couldn't hear a thing... he'd only responded to the visual and physical stimulation, nothing auditory.
She glanced up at Adderstrike, giving her a sympathetic glance. "...I... think you're right. You've never heard Drizzlepaw say any actual words, have you?" She paused as that crossed her mind, frowning thoughtfully. She tilted her head, still flicking her tail in front of Drizzle, an idea slowly coming to mind.
"M-Maybe... we can still communicate with him, somehow. He can still hear and feel just fine, it seems, s-so maybe... there'd be a way to give signals as a way to... talk to him? In a sense?" Berryshine wasn't quite sure if that all made sense, as she had a tendency to ramble and not always formulate her thoughts coherently. But she drew her tail back away from Drizzle's batting paws, trying to catch his attention again.
Silently the she-cat raised her tail with a little flick of greeting, offering a soft smile, trying to communicate a 'hello'. Maybe Drizzlepaw would get it, try and greet back? This was all new territory... but it was an idea they could try, at least.
[ additionally: i found this as for some suggestions of sign language that maybe adder could try and implement for drizzlepaw? and berry could help brainstorm some ideas and training? : ) lmk any thoughts here or in vm <3 ]

Berryshine looked up from where she'd been sorting some poppy seeds that had haphazardly fallen out of their flowery cup. Wilting flowers sure put a damper on things, and this late leaf-fall chill wasn't helping.
"O-Oh, hello!" She beckoned Caveclaw in, immediately going to pad over to the Lionheart's leg, giving it a proper sniff and gently placing her paw against it without any extra pressure. "Y-You're here for your leg, I presume? How... how's it feeling? Any pains?" The small brown molly inquired, glancing between the leg™ and Cave's face, as if trying to see if her slight poke had agitated at all. It certainly looked better, that was for sure, since it had already been a moon and a half — but that couldn't account for whatever internal pain may be happening.

Primroseadder's worried voice followed by the pungent stench of copious amounts of blood was quite the crude awakening for Berryshine. Even as her green eyes blinked away the haze of sleep, her fur was immediately on end, feeling a prickle of unease as she came to. Hoisting herself to her paws, Berryshine slipped out of her sectioned-off area of the den to see... Cobwebfern—!?
"Great StarClan!" The gasp escaped the medicine cat before she had even a chance to process what she was seeing. Her best friend was so red, it almost like it was her fur color instead of blood staining her gray-and-white fur. It only froze her for an instant in shock before she bounded the last few steps between her and her best friend, immediately supporting Cob's other side and helping Primroseadder guide her to the nearest nest.
"W-What happened? Do w-we know?" Berryshine asked rapidly, her stammering getting worse as panic flared in her chest. She sucked in a deep breath, only leaving Cob's side when she was settled and going to grab some moss, wetting parts of it with the stream that ran through the rocky den.
Stars, there was a heavy unfamiliar cat scent on her, something she could pick up even through the metallic tang of blood. Did someone do this to her!? An outsider, a rogue, some mouse-hearted loner? A desperate sound almost like a snarl was in her throat, though it was more frustration than anything, feeling momentarily clueless and helpless.
"Cob... a-are you alright...?" She shakily asked her apprentice, trying to peer at her to see if she was awake, conscious, coherent... Berryshine didn't waste a second pressing moss to Cob's fur, using the wetted moss to try and clean away some of the blood, attempting to peer through her friend's soft pelt to decipher any wounds that might be on her. It was so hard to see... she had to clean some of this up first, even with her small, trembling paws.
Drizzlepaw would flick his ear as he looked at her inquisitively Drizzlepaw's tail would also twitch the kit turned apprentices brain was trying to process what was happening. First she moved her mouth like he has seen other cats before do then she stopped playing with him only to raise her tail and flick it. Drizzlepaw didn't understand but he would copy the movement he saw the bigger she-cat do. Drizzlepaw felt like he saw this cat around the camp. But given the fact he didn't have a name to put to the face not that he realized even he had a name he didn't really try to communicate further. @squidz @Fish
