Joining Form
Name: Gracklepaw
Age: 16 moons
Gender: Male
Rank Request: Apprentice
New Name: Gracklepaw
Reason for Joining: After being captured by a Twoleg and taken away from ShadowClan, Gracklepaw looks to rejoin the Clan and complete his warrior training.

. . .

Gracklepaw
16 moons || Former ShadowClan , current Loner. || He/him
. . .

Deep breath in. Deep breath out.

All Gracklepaw had thought about while cooped up in the Twoleg cages was this moment. The moment in which he would speak to Dawnstar and request to rejoin the Clan he'd grown to cherish.

It's funny how the time changes. Last time he'd stood here he'd been young and starry eyed, with a head full of fantasies of the Clans and being a powerful warrior. He's been naive and anxious, overthinking everything as he rambled on and practically begged Dawnstar to take him in. He cringed a bit at the thought. It was a little embarrassing to reminisce on. But Dawnstar had seen something in him and allowed him to join ShadowClan. And his life changed after that. He'd learned so much during his time in the Clan, but he still needed so much more training. There was an overwhelming feeling of frustration that he held towards his younger self and the way that he'd began to take his place in the Clan for granted. He still trained, sure, but not as hard as some of the others did. And being captured was the catalyst for this realization.

When he returned to ShadowClan, he vowed to himself that he'd work harder and claw his way up to warriorhood. Hell... Magpiepaw was probably already a warrior! She'd totally rub it in his face too. And his pride couldn't take that kind of slander. So, he waited by the border as a gentle breeze grazed his black pelt. The border marker was pretty fresh, though it probably hadn't been marked since the morning due to the smell. He wondered when a patrol would come by. Would they even recognize him?

. . .

Luna sniffed. She lay down on a warm rock and slept...
She ran, far far away from the dogs, making sure to NEVER look back. She passed a faded but strong line of scent and the dogs suddenly turned tail. She needed to hide, and eat

RiverClan...?

Maybe that was the clan his mate had come from. He had to really pry at his brain to pull the information out, but he couldn't confirm nor deny the relations. It'd been too long, and the information hadn't been relayed enough for him to set it in stone in his mind. His tail tip twitched as he pondered on that for a moment before he'd let out a silent sigh. "We hadn't spoken too much on it. Just that she'd left her home and wandered until she stumbled upon my den a last leaf-bare," Time flies...

"She wanted to come back to the clans to raise our kittens, but she and a couple of the kittens have since gone missing. Said it was safer here. Didn't realize there were multiple clans, but I can learn," he thought aloud. The last part of that statement sounding more distant. "She said it was like a larger family, protecting each other, providing for each other. I never thought I'd be the one to finally give into that, but the luxury sounds nicer than the harsh reality of living on my own. If Palehound had taught me anything, it was that having a bond to others is much nicer than being alone. I'd give it all up to find that bond somewhere again... I am giving it all up."

Honestly, he didn't know much about them. It was obvious and he didn't care. He knew this was going to be a learning experience regardless of how familiar he could've become. He would do the work though. He would find his place here. He was determined. Shark wasn't dumb, he knew as more seasons went along, he wouldn't be able to withstand the elements like he used to. He knew he'd struggle, but he'd learn.

@Undertaker - Dawnstar
So he knew little to nothing about the clan, wonderful. As intriguing as she found him to be the lack of knowledge was irritating. He wasn't from around here so she wouldn't fault him. Still, he sounded like every other mousebrain that came to the clan's hoping for safety.

"Family, that's a cute way of putting it. We do indeed provide, protect, and support each other, although unlike a family our loyalty keeps us bound together. A clan sits above more personal matters like kin and love, or at least it does to a true clan cat. The clan comes before all else." She informed with narrow golden eyes.

"Though we all have the same core beliefs and rules, we all have different skills and territories we thrive in. RiverClan, if you can't derive it from the name, is a clan that thrives among water and fishing similar to your home turf. Their skills and home differ greatly from ShadowClan." The leader waved her tail toward the towering pine trees around them.

"Truthfully I don't think you'd be a good fit among my clan. Even though I find your offer intriguing, to bring you into my clan I'd have to find someone to take the time to train and teach you. You'd have to learn everything from hunting to stealth, the hierarchy, borders, and more. It's a lot of work for a cat and although I don't doubt you'd be willing to put in the work, I do doubt your ability to remain loyal to my clan."

Whether he met a RiverClan rat he clicked with at the gathering or was simply just drawn to the similar that RiverClan offered to his former home. Dawnstar didn't trust nor see much reason to bother putting all that work into a cat who could turn his back on them without a care. Considering he hadn't bothered looking into the clans, he didn't seem to care where he stayed so long as he had a place to stay. Dawnstar couldn't have fickle cats like him in her clan especially when she felt he'd fit better in another clan.

"If you're just looking for a clan to spend the rest of your days. You'd fit better in RiverClan rather than wasting your time amongst mine."

Reason for Joining: Salamander - Salamanderpaw, back then - had chased a butterfly out of camp and fell down into a ditch whenever she tripped on a tree root. She had sprained her hind paw, and had waited for her ThunderClan Clanmates to come find her. When they never did, Salamander had decided to just follow her mother - Sunsplash - out into the outskirts. Whenever arriving close to Windswept Plains, Salamander had found her mother, dead. Sunsplash had been killed by a badger. Salamander had cried over her mother´s body and buried her, letting Sunsplash rest in peace, her grave covered by the petals of an unknown flower to Salamander, since Salamander had buried her beneath a flower bush. Salamander had run into a cat within Windswept Plains that had managed to heal to her paw. After ten moons of taking care of herself, Salamander decided that she would like to go back to Clan life. However, she knew that ThunderClan wouldn´t take her back, so she´s decided to try her luck at joining ShadowClan´s ranks.

Salamander
Outsider, Formerly ThunderClan

a fluffy, pretty calico she-cat with ice blue eyes and a full black tail.

Salamander came to a stop at the border and sat back on her haunches, wrapping her fluffy black tail around her paws neatly as she waited for either Dawnstar, Mistlewhisker, or one of ShadowClan´s Enforcers to show. She had lived in ThunderClan long enough to know that each Clan had a council - or elite warriors - that helped out with their Clan´s outsider joining.

Having considered herself an outsider for ten moons now, Salamander decided she would try her luck at joining ShadowClan. ThunderClan wouldn´t take her back, the calico knew. However, Salamander didn´t want to return to ThunderClan. They had abandoned her! Technically, it was her fault for chasing the butterfly out of camp and getting herself hurt, but her former Clanmates could have taken the time to come and find her.

Salamander had taught herself how to hunt over the past ten moons, and she had managed to fight of a fox with some help from other outsiders. They had given her a little bit of battle training. However, if she wished to join a Clan, she´d need to know other moves. Hopefully they let her in....hopefully.

[ @Undertaker // @/anyone else (Mistlewhisker or an Enforcer) ]

The large she-cat padded under the tower trees and through the dense shadows to reach the border. Her amber orbs rested on the outsiders ahead of her with cool boredom. Sighing, Dawnstar sat down near the border and lifted her paw to begin nipping at the pad to get a pine needle stuck in it.

"Start talking," Dawnstar snapped without taking her eyes off her pawpad. She didn't see the need to give the cat much if any of her attention. The loner didn't look all that interesting and she bet they'd have an equally boring story to tell her. Still, she'd at least hear the cat out.

Talon jumped in suprise as they heard someone nearby, a clan cat! Perfect! They'd be reunited with their friend in no time! They puffed out their chest to seem confident and powerful. Their eyes darted around to try and find any random bake they could introduce themselves as.
" Hello, my name is uh- "
They stopped for a minute before realizing they were way in over their head. However they took a deep breath and spoke calmly. Their eyes landed on a owl before just deciding to give their auctal name, it did nobody any good if I came up with some fake name.
" My name is Talon, I'm interested in joining your clan, that is if your willing to take in outsiders. "
They were probably the most nervous they had ever been in their life. They adjusted themselves to be more relaxed, they were going to have a rough time adjusting to a clan name, but if they found their dear demi-she, it was worth it.
She dragged her tongue over her scarred shoulder and nipped at an itch while the mousebrain took forever to recall their name. Talon, how adorable. Dawnstar glanced at Talon and then returned to dragging her tongue over her shoulder.

"Willing, yes, whether you're worth it is the question." Dawnstar was often willing to increase her clan's size but she didn't see the need to take in every pitiful soul who asked to join. "Well, if that's all you have to say, go away. I'm busy and you're wasting my time."

Amidst the autumn leaves abd under brush, a little past the border, a small parcel of fur squirmed. The little kit didn't squirm often, and usually kept quiet, or was too occupied by labored breathing. It was smaller than most at that age, with thin, tiny limbs. Her tiny eyes were recently opened. They hadn't seen much so far. However, they did see the large shape of the cat that took care of them wordlessly drop them in the soft plant life and turn to walk away. The kitten had tried to reach out but she couldn't move much and her illness made her voice hoarse after a few meows. Instead, she resigned herself to hiding in the plant life. She was starting to go hungry, however. Her tiny stomach was restless and it made her wiggle joylessly. Maybe she could move and nibble on some of the plants, they didn't look half bad. @Undertaker
There it was! The Queen of Mean had sworn she had heard something breathing heavily after she checked the outskirts' border. It had taken a few sweeps along the border and around some trees before she found the source. A small, mewling, kit that did not smell healthy to her.

"Who left you over my border?" Dawnstar grumbled to herself while looking the kitten over. Scrawny, small, and sick, no thank you. Dawnstar reached down, aiming to scruff the tuft of fur and carry her back over the border, setting her down in the outskirts.

"I don't who left you over my border of all places, but they made the wrong choice." It was nothing personal. Dawnstar did not waste her time with sick weak things. Motherhood had not changed her perception regarding sick kittens in the slightest. She wasn't wasting time or herbs on sick random kits cats leave over her border.

"I pray your death be swift and painless." She meowed before crossing back into ShadowClan without a glance over her shoulder.
[Dawnstar will not take in sick cats, and definitely will not take in sick kittens. She's not known for caring for kits outside of her clan and will remorselessly leave them to die over the border or kill them herself. So you're joining was denied.]

Reason for Joining: he didn't really have a choice. His kittypet mother died giving birth while trying to get to her mate on the other side of the territories. She gave birth to only 2 kits, but when she was found, only Banana Bread was alive. The mother's last wish was for Banana Bread to live the life she didn't get to, as a free cat. His sister, Blueberry Bread, died soon after.

aight im just doin it here)) Banana Bread was vaguely aware of the world around him. The other squirming bundle next to him had stopped moving. It felt cold. Everything felt cold. But also warm. What were those starry shapes? He mewed weakly to them. They did not respond. He mewed louder. They vanished. Cold. Hungry. Those were Banana Bread's first conscious feelings.

@Undertaker
That's where the stench came from! Her amber orbs gleamed in the shadows as she found the body of a she-cat and two kits. Well, that one was alive. She hadn't the finest clue how the one was alive, the bodies looked pretty old. But it's not like it matters to her. Dawnstar grabbed the kittypet's corpse and carried it off into the outskirts.

She returns moments later and leans down to scruff the stiff kit's deceased body and its living littermate. She sets both down over the outskirts with the dead mother. "Though I am impressed that you somehow managed to be alive, I've no interest in any more kittypet blood within my clan. So have a good death." Dawnstar meowed, walking back over the border leaving the bodies for the foxes.

[Hi! Your character's story doesn't make sense realistically. If the mother died after giving birth. The kittens would not have survived more than a few days without milk. If we add in the weather elements they'd last maybe a few hours, if not eaten by predators first. There's no way the kitten would have lived for three weeks. Also the name would not have been acceptable in ShadowClan. Since Dawnstar has little to no interest in newborn kittens, let alone kittypet kittens, the joining was denied.]

@Undertaker

[Your cat can not have glowing purple fur regardless of the lighting. I don't believe that is realistic at all. How old is your cat?]

"You!" The massive she-cat hissed as she came across the loner. "Get up and get the hell out of my territory." Dawnstar was getting so tired of dealing with these stupid loners. ShadowClan had borders for a reason. "Move it, or I'll snap your neck and toss you over the border as a corpse instead."

ShadowClan Re: ShadowClan Outsider Joining

Salamander
Outsider, Formerly ThunderClan
She / Her - 16 Moons

As Dawnstar gave the swift - and yet snappy - order to Salamander, the calico dipped her head respectfully to the ShadowClan Leader. ´´Hello, Dawnstar,´´ She mewed cooly, her icy hues (not in a bad way, of course) trained on the muscular form of the other she-cat. ´´I am unsure whether or not you remember me - which you likely don´t, and I mean no disrespect when I say that - but my name is Salamander. I used to be called Salamanderpaw ten moons ago, before my former ThunderClan Clanmates abandoned me and left me for the lynxes and foxes to find.´´

Salamander´s fluffy black tail swayed behind her for a moment before the calico ever so elegantly wrapped it around her black and dark ginger paws. ´´I will admit that it may have partly been my fault, since I had chased a butterfly out of camp,´´ Her ears drooped in shame. ´´However, I tripped over a tree root and hurt my hind paw. ThunderClan should have been more than able to find me, but I have realized that they never would have. Not if they hadn't cared, which I´ve grown to realize, as well.´´

´´Seeing as my mother had gone missing not too long before - and that ThunderClan wasn´t coming for me, I decided to head out into the outskirts and try my best to find her,´´ Salamander almost, almost winced at the mention of her mother. It had hurt to see Sunsplash´s bloody, broken body splayed out in the grass. Instead, the calico soothed herself with postive thoughts. ´´I did manage to find her, but...not in one piece, to say the least. She had been hit by a monster.´´

Salamander tipped her head to the side thoughtfully. ´´I had found a cat. They had healed my paw,´´ She gestured to her hind paw with her muzzle, which was fully healed and completely fine now. ´´However, I know that a story is not what you want to hear; so, here goes nothing.´´

The she-cat took a deep breath before speaking once more. ´´After ten moons living the life of a loner, I would like to request a place within the ranks of ShadowClan. I know what you might be thinking,´´ She added on, more quietly. ´´´She will never fit in,´ or ´She´ll never be good enough,´ but I would like to say that I am willing to learn ShadowClan´s ways, if you´ll have me. I may not be the best, but I promise that I will prove myself to you.´´

ROOKFIRE
[ he/him | shadowclan medicine cat app | purrks ]
[ #rookMCA24 ]
rookfire may be many things but a weird little guy that followed cats without their permission (who would even give permission for something like that anyway though) he was certainly not, especially not with a cat like dawnstar. he was just around at the same time, pacing the borders on the search for herbs or prey and peace like he had been doing every few days practically since his promotion like he was actually searching for something beyond clarity and purpose. whatever, back on topic, rookfire had been thinking quietly enough to take note of dawnstars voice addressing a cat presumably beyond the border and immediately changed course. due to both his age and only recent promotion, rookfire had no experience with outsider joinings beyond his very own with lostspark so many moons it felt like a lifetime back, but boy was he curious what kind of requirements dawnstar looked for.
besides simple curiosity, the young medic hoped this could aid him somewhat in his own approach towards outsiders when he came across them whilst out without and cat whos opinion he valued. the time he found this blind and deaf kit came to mind, he had been awfully unsure about abandoning them in the outskirts but it had been the right choice, he had known deep down, and mistlewhisker had supported his choices.

rookfire approached more or less quietly, he had been practicing his stealth and thought he was pretty alright by now, but no where near undetectable like hawkbite moved through the forest, and took his place by dawnstars side. grey eyes scanned the unfamiliar cat opposite them with guarded curiosity as his striped tail tapped the ground rhythmically.

I may not be the best, but I promise that I will prove myself to you.´´

following dawnstars order, the stranger began to speak, already kind of shifting into a bad light in rooks eyes due to the tone of voice she chose. he tried to ignore it though, not really a fan of getting himself fixated on one aspect of a cats apperance and judging them on that, even if he had picked up that habit on basis of defending himself and avoiding trouble. the following wasnt super well chosen either, going on a weird sidenote about whether or not dawnstar remembered this random cat that was supposedly not a shadowclanner. ah there it was, thunderclan, so not former shadowclan. why in stars name would dawnstar know this cat in that case then?
mildly conflicted about his current stance on this, rookfire continued to listen as the calico she-cat began the actual backstory part of her backstory, something about leaving camp without permission, hurting her paw and expecting thunderclan to come for her. rookfire had never had much pity or understanding for the stupid choices kits or apprentices made, at least those he didnt know or cared about, so he wasnt overly impressed by salamanders story.
dead mother yada yada, she had survived ten moons supposedly alone and without much help so he could make the assumption that the warrior aged outsider had at least enough knowledge and skill to keep herself alive which was probably a big plus point for her if he was being honest.

finally, whisker brows drew up in faint disbelief at the very last bit of her proposal, every single cat coming around could say they would try their best and not mean it, but on the other paw, had he really said much of anything different during his own joining? not really, no. angular head tipped slightly to the side, rookfires eyes shifted from salamander to dawnstar in order to observe her reaction.

ROOKFIRE

rookfire padded after dawnstar (this time the leader knew of his presence to be clear) checking the border seperating shadowclan from the outskirts when the leader started pacing back and forth, obviously in search of the source of the sounds that had long since echoed in rooks ears as well. when she finally stopped by a kit, small, mewing helplessly and smelled awful. sickly sweet illness clear to the medicine cat, without even needing to part his jaws in order to take in more scent, and obviously dawnstar as well judging by her quiet words and following actions.
moving the kit over the border to leave them to die may seem cruel but there was no other way, if shadowclan took in every sick kit just in case they could be healed and become a good warrior they wouldve probably long since died out. the medicine cat apprentice didnt have much issue with that particular policy, able to draw a clear line between his own duties, the urge to help and protect and knowledge. sane, logical reasons.
"no sick or defenceless kits aye?" rookfire mewed finally, biting back his own 'story' about the blind and deaf kit partly because he was sure mistlewhisker had told dawnstar and otherwise because he actually cared about dawnstars opinion on him.

(Talon)-(13 moons)-(currently an outsider) @Undertaker
Talon nodded as they tried to keep their chin high.
" I used to live on the outskirts near a two leg place, as such I had to fight off kittypets a lot. So combat training won't be an issue. Plus I fought a fox once! "
They said, the scar on their flank now stuck out like a sore thumb.
" While I did lose the fight, I still survived it? "
They were trying to scramble for reasons, they had forgotten the one thing they had practiced over and over before they came to the clan's border. Yet she regained her composure and she tried not to show any weakness.
" My main reason for joining is because I need structure and a group to be loyal to until the day I die. "
They said as they tried to seem like they'd been doing this their entire life. They faced the facts that ever since their lover had joined a clan they'd be thriving, and Shadowclan seemed to align with her beliefs, at least with what they'd seen so far. So they decided to proceed with caution.

Reason for Joining: [ @/Undertaker - Dawnstar | Not a joining post for the most part, just the roleplay I promised to reminisce. Not important at all, take your time. ]

ASPHODEL LARK
She/Her

It had started with drowning. All those moons ago, when the ground beneath her had disappeared, and all she’d been met by was the cold jaws of death as icy water enveloped her body, dragging her under. Lark never did find out how she’d been delivered from those turbulent waters to ShadowClan grounds. Nor did Larkkit, nor did Larkpaw, nor did Larkfire, nor did Lostspark.

The her from now knew, though. Her brother had delivered her prone form to where he’d deemed it safe. At the very least, safer than where she’d been, with Fablespinner, skies don't rest her soul. She'd begun a new life, one that she'd never not be grateful for. It was why she was back, even if briefly. She cared about this place. Well, in her own way, considering how she was paying it back. The eel needed to be fed, right?

Who was she now? It didn’t matter, not really. She had been a mother, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a friend, a Clanmate, a kit, an apprentice, a warrior, an Enforcer, a Medicine Cat. She was a stranger. And she was content to be whatever was required of her. She'd had so many names over the moons, just like now. To different cats, she was hailed separately. Whoever she was meant to be, she would be it when the time for it came. Now, though, she wasn’t required. Wasn’t needed here in ShadowClan, for many a reason, in multiple aspects. And that… that was okay.

Loss allowed growth in a cat. She’d learned that the hard way, and so too would her kin. Grief was a pain, a horrible one at that, but family went two ways. And she... she was more than likely beyond the point of being granted forgiveness.

She'd stayed away from ShadowClan when a deep-seated insecurity had begun to fester, a childish fear that the mother she'd been adopted by and in turn had adopted no longer wanted her. Icethroat had caused that. It had taken her embarrassingly long to figure out that he'd lied. That his silver tongue had done more than just attempt to sway her to his side. For someone who loved the sound of his own voice so much, he was quite the coward when faced with pain.

Her life in ShadowClan had started with drowning, and ironically enough, (though unplanned both OOC and IC), it ended with drowning.

No, she'd not died. Not to the creature her very own son had become. Not to Icethroat, not to Hailneck, though those two had met their own end at the jaws of the beast in Darkwater Mire. Each experience, each near-death instance, had helped her grow, had molded her into whoever she was today. And though her roleplayer apologizes profusely for being an infinite bother, Lark was here anyway for three reasons; to say hello, to give her mother the omen and the warning Wolverine had relayed to both her and Mossfreckle that had pulled her from her home, and to say goodbye.
