Songfeather guessed the apprentice's name right at least. "Name's Songfeather." she purred quietly and flicked her ears. Her gaze followed the green eyed cat as they first dipped their paw in the pond and then to the grave to pay their respects. As she watched, Songfeather started to think again. Sorrow filled her heart as her sisters dissappearence crossed her mind. Songfeather didn't know if she was dead or just living somewhere else. Did she even want to know? If she knew her sister was dead, it would maybe give her some weird sort of peace. But what if she just had left the Clan to live as a kittypet for example? Just a hint of shame shivered through her body. No, that didn't sound like her sister. Songfeather closed her eyes and lightly shook her head before looking up to the stars and then back to Seapaw who was on his way back to her. "My condolences if you have recently lost a loved one." the beige cat meowed with a low voice, a bit unsure what else to say right now. She just sat quiet for a few moments before she tilted her head slightly and looked at the apprentice. "Maybe we could just sit for a little while and remember our lost clanmates, hm?", she gave him a friendly smile again. The young cat seemed nice, she could absolutely talk more to him if it were under other circumstances. But right now, she didn't want to disturb the other mourning cats or anger Stormstar even more.

He dipped his head, agreeing. "Mine to you too." Though he didn't know any of the fallen, it almost felt like he did. It was like when his mother went missing - he couldn't imagine how their kin felt right now.

- - - TAKES PLACE AT A DIFFERENT TIME THAN THE VIGIL
The deputy padded in with a brisk pace, the body of Catfishwhisker laying on her back. She could only hope that Rosehawk was on her heels to assist her with the herb finding, it would certainly save her a headache.
Blades of grass sliced into her thick fur and tickled at her paws as she padded through low fog that stretched across the meadow and rippled like a cloak with each gust of wind. She was aware that a vigil was held recently, and it was sad another death had to come for Riverclan so soon. The deputy opened her mouth and lifted her soft pallet, hoping to catch the scent of lavender or rosemary. Berryshine also recommended some mint if it was available. Ha, she was so grateful for them. Cobwebfern was shaping up to be a pretty great apprentice as well.
Suddenly, the tabbys pace slowed to an even stop, gently bending down to place Catfishwhisker on a bed of grass, her large frame suddenly disappearing under fog before her silhouette came back into view, the lump of Catfishwhisker no longer distorting her shape.
She felt as though she smelt some lavender or rosemary near here, which was good since she didn't wish to wander so far from Catfishwhisker. While she doubted there were any vultures in the area, she wasn't about to risk loosing a body in this maze of fog and endless grass.
An amber eye turned to Rosehawk, her expression slightly grim. "I'ight chap, ya ready ta go herb huntin'?" A tone of humor trinkled into her raspy voice. Owltalon herself wasn't sure what these herbs smelt like (stars, she should've asked...) but Rosehawk seemed to know a thing or two about herbs, so perhaps she could ask her. Lavender, Owltalon knew that one. It had an oddly natural sweetness to it, unlike a usual herbs earthy or bitter smell.

Frosty-blue hues flicked to the amber one that gleamed at Rosehawk. ´´Of course,´´ She mewed, her tail swaying behind her. ´´I´ll fetch rosemary and chamomile.´´
With that, the Bengal headed out into the forest, later returning with an equal amount of both herbs in her jaws.

Rosehawk emerged into the foggy terrain with a wave of her thick, fluffy tail, frosty-blue hues clouding as they set on Catfishwhisker´s grave. She´d found it and helped bury it, too.
Pushing away any negative thoughts with a shake of her head, Rosehawk called back to her patrolmates - Stormstar and Daisypaw. ´´Tansy and daisy,´´ She mewed, her voice firm. She regretted not calling for Cricketpaw and bringing her along, but this wasn´t her apprentice´s patrol. ´´I can carry up to eight tansy, if you two can get five daisy each.´´
With a nod to the two, Rosehawk opened her jaws slightly. She caught the sharp scent of tansy almost at once. With a mrrow of satisfaction, the Bengal caught sight of the tansy plant and bounded over, nipping off some stems. She was careful not to damage the herbs.

Daisypaw looked up, blinking in confusion as she heard her name being called multipul times. "Daisy......?" She mewed, her focusing..... was usually good but sometimes it wasn't, today just seemed to be one of those days. "Daisy...? Me?" she asked

A blink was given in response to Rosehawk's tone, and the instructions on just how many plants to find. "You overpick this area of herbs 'n I'll pluck out your claws one by one," Stormstar snapped, giving the warrior a look. She knew this was the Rosehawk's patrol, but stars above even apprentices knew not to rip all the herbs from the area! Which is... exactly what the warrior did. There was barely any tansy left after she was done and the leader let out a grumble. "If you do that, we won't have it to grow back for when Berries 'n Cobs need it again." Padding over to the plant and its pitiful state now, she looked up with narrowed eyes. "Leave this plant alone now - there's only one left thanks to your fluff-headed actions 'n I don't need our medicine cats herbs runnin' low because you got too excited."
Looking back over to Daisypaw who seemed... confused... the leader sighed. "Daisies - the herb that Cobs told us to get, not you. Do you remember what she said they looked like?" Stormstar was hoping to get a bit into the patrol before pulling Daisypaw off to the side, but it seemed like they would perhaps be getting into his conversation now...
Trotting back towards the apprentice - with one final disappointed glance at Rosehawk over her shoulder - the leader caught sight of a few daisies on her way back. There was a patch of four, so the leader plucked two and left the rest. "Like these," she explained, showing them towards Daisypaw so she could get a good look.
ORP )) Fishleap was napping in a hidden patch of grass. She had clearly been sleeping there for a while, as she was in a spot that would have been illuminated by sun a while ago, and nearby grass was flattened. She, uh, didn't want to deal with cats today, so she went and had to avoid like, 5 different cats, because for some reason, it seemed like EVERY CAT IN THE CLAN WAS HERE. But she was asleep now and splayed out in the grass.

Daisypaw followed her leaders gaze with wide, curious eyes. "Oooooh, I remember now!" She mewed, her eyes wide as she narrowed them to lock the sight into her mind. "So.......uhh...... I grab 5?" She mewed, staring at the leader and how she picked up the Daisy, "Like this?" she asked, nipping the stem gently to grab the flower, her eyes wide as she looked for approval or help on her decision.

The large tabby flicked her ear in surprise as Rosehawk bounded away from her. The she-cat blinked before flicking her tail. She had hoped to go and look for herbs together, stride for stride, but it seemed Rosehawk had other ideas. Not to bother though... Somecat had to watch the Catfishwhisker anyhow. The deputy looked at the herbs in the warriors maw, her whiskers twitching. No lavender... She'll just have to find some herself. She still wasn't sure what chamomile was, but Rosehawk had gotten a good amount of it as well. Though, for one cat, she worried that perhaps too many herbs were gathered. Eh, she'd discuss it later if need be, right now she had a cat to bury. The stench of death was already working it's way through her nose.
"Watch it, will ya?" The she-cat called after her, one eyed gaze flicking over to Catfishwhisker's body. And with that, the deputy was off, her mouth slightly open as she tried to catch the sharp scent of mint or lavender. Since Rosehawk had already gotten so many, she didn't think mountains worth of lavender and mint would be ethical.
The she-cat slowed as her amber eye landed on a spring of lavender. Her lips pulled back in a toothy smile before she bent down to retrieve it. In truth, Owltalon was never good at collecting herbs, no matter what she tried. It seemed her maw always failed her in some way. Okay... One. Just one.
[owltalon rolled a 1! harvest failed]
It slipped right out of her maw and slugged back to its previous position. The deputy held in a sneeze, her nose tickling from the leaves and blades of grass and of so strong scent of lavender. She turned her head away, refusing to sneeze on herbs. She needed to be careful and not go around damaging herb after herb.
Brown paws wandered a bit more, the gravesite for Catfishwhisker in her peripheral vision. Okay, more lavender. Hopefully no more mistakes this time.
[owltalon rolled a 20! harvest complete!]
[owltalon rolled a 17! perfectly intact]
+1 lavender
Seizing the plant in her jaws, the tabby smiled. It seemed that she wasn't dirt poor at gathering herbs after all. She was certain that one was enough since cats in general aren't very big and the lavender was nearly as big as her.
Now mint... Owltalon didn't have a single clue how to find it or what it looked like. Berryshine did say the herb was optional, so she'd just have to skip out on it. "Rosehawk," the deputy called from over the wind, her bulky frame bounding through fog. "Got a stick of lavender, I think it'll be used well." She sat next to the fallen warrior, it's stench only souring. They'd have to work fast, but not without some minor scolding. She turned to the living warrior beside her, her eyes narrowing.
"Rosehawk, I think it's admirable that ya go so many herbs for those 'ere burial, but herbs come inna limited area 'ere, we oughta be careful to not o'er pick. Ya get me?" She narrowed her eyes momentarily. "Just know, that fer one cat, two herbs at most is enough, eh? We'll bring the access ta Squirt and Cobwebfern, they might need it."
She then gingerly set the herb on the ground, one paw firmly placed atop the lavender to make sure it didn't move with the wind. That would be quite humourous but really really unfortunate. Brown paws darkened as she clawed through the ground, digging until there was a grave deep enough for it. She then picked up Catfishwhisker by the scruff and nudged him a bit closer to the gravesite. Stars above, now she was stuck. Curse me and my lack of questions... her mind grumbled at her.
She wasn't sure if stuffing the lavender in the fur or cuts would be better, but she decided on the fur because the cut dea was starting to become nonsensical to her. She spread the lavender throughout the cats fur, bulb by bulb. She then took one of the rosemary and did the same. The chamomile got the same treatment and the deputy ended up using one of everything, leaving the two with three bundles of rosemary and three of chamomile.
She then looked to Rosehawk. "Would ya do the honors?" The she-cat stepped back and nodded to it. Maybe Rosehawk would want to bury it, maybe not. Regardless, the choice was given.

Songfeather dipped her head in gratitude at Seapaws words. She wrapped her tail around her paws and looked around, starting to feel a sense of calmness. After all, shouldn't they just sit in silence at a vigil? And that's what she planned to do for while, at least until anobody else spoke to her. It was nice to have some company here. Even though the circumstances weren't that nice...
