“I can fix her!”
@dino.
Adderstrike snorted a laugh at Redmire. That was probably the single stupidest question she heard in her life. Should she even dignify that with a response? "Yeah that's great and all Redmire but what do you plan on doing to make it so. Its nice to say such things but it means nothing if you don't do anything. I got an idea but I'd prefer to hear what you say first." That and Adderstrike just didn't want to hear 'me too!'. Though Adderstrike was starting to question the grounds rumors stood on here. That thought being thought, it made Adderstrike wonder about Redmire in a different light. Was Adderstrike the first cat to come up and question Redmire, or was she just a part of a long list of cats? Hopefully her probing was the cruelest and meanest since that would be better for her.
Redmire's ears flattened. Forget about some nice, relaxing lunch - this was just an attempt to corner her. She was shocked Adderstrike hadn't called up three others to block off any escape routes, though maybe that was intentional to avoid bringing this any attention.
"You want my plan? Ditch the weak links. Birdsnow, Mistyshard, Larkwing - get rid of them. First two are already gone and they need to stay that way, because they'll only drag us down the same way they've already failed us. Same goes for Fadingsun, if somehow he's still alive and tries to come sniveling back. Same for anyone who acts like RiverClan isn't their top priority." Clanhoppers, sympathizers, disloyalists, all of them gone before they could drag RiverClan down further.
"We fix ourselves first. Then whatever's been stolen from us in the past, we take back." Cattail Pond, first. "We show the other Clans that we are not weak and we are not the same as before. We are better and we will continue to be better."
Redmire clicked her teeth at Adderstrike. "Is your stupid little impromptu interrogation done, or are you going to keep acting like I'm some rat who's only here because I have it out for the whole damn Clan?"

Adderstrike nodded her head. Well this was an interesting cat for sure. Though she would fight to keep all those cats still in the clan. Weakest link fighting was stupid in her mind. "I see what you are saying about weakest link, but the only reason clans are strong is because they all stick together. Weak or strong. If we play the game of kicking out everyone who is deemed weak the bar will get so high that there would only be one cat left. Though I also do think that cats who left shouldn't get the same power back. They proved that they couldn't handle it so we shift them to other duties. As we have done."
Adderstrike swayed her tail. Redmire sure was on a razors edge to snap at anyone. "My my... Redmire I don't know when I even called you a rat for anything. The only person attacking another cat's character here is you. Implying I won't work for these goals?" She gave the other warrior an unimpressed look. Did every cat but her have the ability to read minds, or had other cats been a lot more harsh on Redmire in the past with these questions. "I just saw, no heard you a lot at meetings shouting out at Fading what you thought he should do so it made me interested. You and me have a strong conviction to move Riverclan to be better place, but it seems we have slightly different ideas so... Well I wanted to know more about how you thought we should move on."

Redmire sat up, half-prepared to stand fully and walk away if this got to be anymore of a brainless conversation than it already was. "Birdsnow took moons to even get close to becoming a warrior, failed as a leader, and then vanished," she snapped. "Larkwing failed, vanished, and for some reason was welcomed back with open paws. Mistyshard failed as a medicine cat and vanished. Fadingsun nearly ran this Clan into the dirt with his dumbass decisions, asked about our opinions, and then bolted with his tail between his legs when he couldn't handle it!" Everyone had seen the way he'd run when confronted with the voices he sought out; you were blind or braindead if you couldn't comprehend it. "They lost their place in RiverClan when they ran!"
The more garbage Adderstrike spewed, the more pissed Redmire got. Did everyone in this Clan have hearing problems?? She bared her teeth and got fully to her paws. "Are you deaf or just stupid? I never called you a rat or implied that at all, or even 'attacked your character' as you chose to put it. You asked and I freaking answered. Don't put words in my mouth."

"Right sure... Yet they are not in positions of power anymore. They cannot use their power to cause such mistakes anymore. Hell Lark helped fight a bunch of otters. We allowed her to come back and she helped us out. In this the weak already sorted themselves out. Honestly how do you think we don't get cats that bend under pressure into these roles? Vote them in? We could do that but I feel as if that would need a lot of back to switch up a long stand of the cats in power picking who gets in power instead."
"Honestly felt like you were trying to when you said 'I'm willing to put in the effort to make sure we get there. Are you?' given how much I working my tail off for this clan and how hostile you come off, right off the bat.And if it somehow matters, no my feelings weren't hurt." You do not make a good impression. "Why are you on edge like this anyways? Do you think that the clan will attack you for some unjustified reason? If so, I'd kicked their ass." Maybe this cat also needed a positive PR campaign as well.

White-hot rage surged across Redmire's skin. She didn't even care about the crap Adderstrike threw at her regarding past high ranks and solutions or whatever the hell it was supposed to be. It was the last thing the warrior said that made her tunnel-vision.
Pupils shrinking to slits, Redmire let her hackles rise and she gnashed her teeth with a sharp, furious whip of her tail. "You need to shut your starsdamned mouth!" she snarled, the words loud and angry enough to ricochet across the clearing and catch the attention of any on-lookers. "I just told you I didn't! Are you incapable of opening your freaking ears or is it intentional at this point?! I can't do a damn thing around here without being accused of this or that and I'm tired of it!What am I doing wrong here that makes everyone here treat me like I'm only here to tear us all down?!" A sheathed forepaw came up and slammed its way back to the sandy earth. Redmire's eyes stung as she glared at Adderstrike, sides heaving. "Huh?!"
Really? Really?? A warrior she'd had high hopes for, poking at one who had actually been doing work for the Clan and only really had a target on her back because of her brother. At first it had seemed just like a general conversation, but as things got heated the leader knew she'd likely have to step in and break it up. Stars, would she ever get to call a meeting?? Cats kept coming into her den, or starting fights in the clearing. With two of her Lionhearts already talked to, she wanted to handle this one herself
Descending quick from the path that led up to her den, the gray furred leader threw herself in between, first looking towards Redmire. "Walk away," she started. There was no order, simply a hardened request and a display of 'let me handle this' to the sharp-tongued warrior. She didn't really care if Redmire still stayed and listened, but at least she hoped that would start to neutralize it.
Looking now to Adds, disappointment crossed her face. Was she really asking Redmire that? "You're doin' it right now, with all this pokin' 'n proddin'. Adds, I 'ppreciate your loyalty to this Clan, but if you go around actin' like this 'M gonna have to rethink a few things, startin' with you bein' a warrior." She had not expected this type of behavior from Adds, a cat she admired for their work ethic. "Redmire's helped this Clan just as much as you have. She fought the dogs, she got organized with the move, hunted 'n patrolled 'n she fought in the battles, same as you 'n same as every other cat here. I don't need my good warriors," she looked from Adds to Redmire, then back again, "at each others throats like this. Got it?"
Blizzardoak padded up to the fresh kill pile gingerly before dropping one of the three sparrows that Poppyburst and Floodsight had caught on their patrol in sleepy thicket. It had been one he had organized spontaneously, so even though it was a small haul the aging warrior hoped it would help the clan in the coming colder months. So much for seeing if I can still pull my own weight again. All Blizzardoak had managed to do was miss a sparrow he'd been able to place a paw on. In the process he seemed also to have alerted Floodsight to the fact that his old leg injury wasn't under as much control as he allowed his clanmates to believe. In fact it was still sore, but seeing the concern and recognition in her eyes meant he couldn't very well have ignored Floodsights offer to escort him to the medicine den. He held back a sigh, I know when I've been seen through.
Still he found the warrior's perception to be remarkable, even his own family and former apprentice were unaware that his injury caused him more than occasional soreness. Even more disconcertingly he knew skipping treatments of any such pain he'd kept from Berrypaw would probably result in him receiving an earful. I just hope she doesn't find a reason to forgo my reinstatement as a warrior. He had mentioned it to Fadingstar in passing, and had been given the go ahead to resume his duties, but... Would it last if leadership realized the injury was more severe than he was letting on? The warrior had his doubts. As he waited for Floodsight's silver/grey form to deposit her kill it felt like he was holding his heart carefully in his chest.
"Thanks for looking out for me Floodsight..we can visit Berrypaw whenever your ready." He was careful not to let his regrets enter into his speech, but the subtle pause in his words may have been more than enough for the young she-cat to decipher his feelings. Given her current track record. He tried to keep his head high and thoughts clear as he awaited her response.

Really... Taking away her warrior name just because she got into a bit of an argument with another cat? Adderstrike gave Stormstar a mournful look seeing that she would jump that far. "Alright, if I may..." She looked to Redmire. "I'm sorry, never been that good with words at all, and it shows to head here. I didn't think I was accusing you of anything I just wanted to ask what you saw to do in the future for the clan, as you do interest me for how strongly convicted of a cat you are... I realize I also forgot to say what I wanted to do, I hope that didn't make things worse. If it did, I'm sorry. Maybe another time I will tell ya if you want, as I do have plans. Sorry for adding into the list of cats that seem like they wanted to attack you, that wasn't my goal and I'm sorry for that. Have a nice day." Adderstrike then looked to Dusklion.
"I didn't want to imply either that she does nothing in the clan, Stormstar." Adderstrike said before she looked to Redmire. "I hope that isn't how it came off, Redmire. Just wanted to know future plans and goals, it wasn't to say that she hasn't done anything at all. Like the dog thing as you said." Then she looked back to Stormstar. "Sorry Stormstar, didn't mean to make you have to get away from what you were doing either." Adderstrike said before walking away.
He felt awfully guilty about all the Godsdamned blood he'd trailed through camp. All because of one lousy splinter, too; hmph. Frigidfang, who was laying near the edge of the clearing, let out a snort of frustration. He hated this. And it was only a matter of time until some cat noticed something was off. He needed to tell Stormstar.
And so, with great effort, the black and white cat stood up and hobbled around the clearing, looking for his leader.
