Good. She was glad, relieved even, to see everyone arrive so quickly. The silver warrior had directed them out of the abandoned twoleg den and into the woods that led up to Lionsbeach. Lately, she'd been here so much, it was almost easy to retrace her paw steps. Slowly, the dirt under her paws was mixed and melded into the sandy beaches. The trees and bushes had thinned out into a stretch of sand that went on and on. And at the other edge of the sand was the sea. Even at a distance, she could hear the crashing waves.

"Alright, Cricketpaw, if you haven't had your swimming lesson, don't stray into the waters, alright?" She was unsure how much training the little one had. Currently, she couldn't think of who their mentor was. Probably not Duskleaf's, judging by his distant tone towards both of them. "Let any of us know if you need anything, yeah?"

Surely, the apprentice had at least hunting, right? There should be nothing to worry about. With that out of the way, she softly suggested, "Alright, let's get started now. We'll meet back here once we're done."

Arriving at Lions Beach, Floodsight asked her if she had swimming lessons yet, and regrettably, she answered
"I haven't had any lessons but a tour to the abandoned twoleg den."
So hunting wasn't too bad, she had caught small things before, like a mouse. But this was different, so she awaited an answer from either warrior.

Arriving then at Lionsbeach, he listened as Floodsight told Cricketpaw not to go too far into the waters, and Cricketpaw saying that she hadn’t had any lessons yet. Wait, nothing at all? "I can teach you a bit of hunting if you like, I'm not really the best at it myself but at least you'll know a thing or two when your mentor goes over it with you?" He offered. She must've only recently been apprenticed, he figured.

'No training and Dusklion sent the little one out here? I mean sure, hunting at Lionsbeach was relatively peaceful but anything could've happened.' Floodsight looked slightly confused before regaining her composure. With a soft warm voice she began, "I mean, I could tea-"

Thankfully, Duskleaf had made the offer to teach the little one. She did think it would be much better if a more experienced teacher took hold of the reins. Yeah, she could hunt all right, but teaching someone to hunt was a whole another task. For now, teaching Aspenpaw was an experience in itself. And not much a talker herself, she just gratefully the other warrior stepped up. Floodsight nodded gratefully towards Duskleaf and whispered quietly, "Thank you."

"Since you've never been here. Welcome to Lionsbeach, this beach is our stretch of territory that runs from along the sea to the sands. The Seastone, where the clans gather every moon, is just on the far side." Floodsight nodded warmly at Cricketpaw before standing up. "Alright, Duskleaf here will cover the rest. I'll see you both back here once we're done."

And with that she bounded off to the seaside to find some half-dead fish to act as a bait.

Barely...

Floodsight nearly missed a small dead fish floating in the waters, quickly sweeping away in the waves. It was the size of a mere snack, but great for a bait. She tossed it at the flat stones and moved away allowing for the plan to unfold. Patiently waiting until the right moment. Suddenly a flutter of wings appeared and with a shriek, a gull descended for the sad fish.

Average catch!

The silver warrior leapt for the distracted gull, bringing the bird down with a bite to the neck. And with a quick thanks, she'd bury the gull before moving on.

Looking exoectantly at the tom as Floodsight bolted away, she smiled.
"Soooo.... You're gonna teach me to hunt... Right?" This was far more exciting than any of her former catches of beetles and bugs, real hunting!

Right…so teaching hunting…Duskleaf had never done that before, and having no sense of smell was probably going to make that more challenging, but he'd agreed to teach Cricketpaw how to hunt and he was nothing if not a cat of his word.

"Yep! The very basics of it at least, you're probably better asking your mentor to go over this again with you since I can only teach you a little bit right now." His eyes scanned the beach and the rocks nearby for anything he could maybe find. Ah, there we go. A seagull descending for its next meal, in a moment it would become a meal itself. "Okay, so you want to approach it as quietly as possible while it isn’t looking. The trick is to get a grip of its wings with your claws, and bite it in the neck as quickly as possible." He whispered to Cricketpaw, "I’ll have a go first just to show you, then you can try it."

With that, Duskleaf began to slowly approach the bird, trying to make as little sound as possible. Then, just as it turned its head to face him, he gave it little time to react as he pounced.

And he had it! The feathers felt really weird, Duskleaf really wasn’t used to that feeling, but wasting no time he quickly bit the bird in the neck, killing it instantly. Spotting another bird just down beach, he glanced at it from the side of his eye, then looked back over at Cricketpaw.

"That one’s yours, have a go!"

Floodsight buried the seagull with a thin layer of sand before looking for her next target. A crab. She seldom finds herself wanting to hunt these, but it was right there. It just stared at her with it's beady eyes and it made her feel kind of self conscious. Being stared down by a crab, what a joke.

She launched herself at the crab only for it to skitter away into the sand, sideways. Whatever. They weren't the easiest to eat anyways. She shook her fur before moving onto the next one, another gull had landed in the distance. Okay, careful, now.

Caught!

The silver warrior grin happily at her kill before burying the bird. 'Alright, a few more and we can wrap it up for the day.' She reminded herself to check up on Duskleaf and Cricketpaw, her eyes darted around to find them still there. Teaching and learning. Good, nothing bad has happened.

Swallowing, she crouched just as Duskleaf had. please don't miss! never had she went for anything that big. Pulling her tail to a stop, she crept forward. Then she leapt.

(rolled a 14. Okay, so I haven't used a character for hunting in awhile, but, are we doing anything over 11 caught, anything below, not?)

she felt feathers below her paws and smiled. take that bird. stooping down, she went to grab it as feathers went askew.

"Did I do good?" she asked, her mouth muffled.

Duskleaf looked at Cricketpaw with amusement in his eyes as she caught a bird. "Yes! Well done!" But looking at his own catch, it wasn’t that impressive, so he decided he'd try and catch at least one more bird before leaving, aaaaand…there it was…

Sneaking up on the bird, Duskleaf unsheathed his claws, ready to strike, and with a sudden leap, he flew towards the target…

[Duskleaf rolls a 14!]

The bird quickly noticed and tried to take off, but Duskleaf’s claws got ahold of its wings before it could get too far. With a swift bite to the neck, he then brought the fresh kill back, taking a look over at the horizon.

"Think it's time to head back?"

The day has gone by quite quickly, way faster than she had originally anticipated for. The silver molly guessed it was a reminder that the colder seasons were coming. Soon, their forest will be covered by a blanket of icy white. Floodsight heaved a sigh before peeling her mind off of the Leaf-bare seasons. When that time comes, any birds on Lionsbeach would be gone, flown to warmer areas to spend the cruel winters.

Floodsight made sure to scale the sidelines of Lionsbeach one last time to check if there wasn't any possible prey being left behind. The silver molly scooped up a fresh fish, floating in the waters. Double checking it before picking it up in her maw. Lucky~

She spent the end of their hunting patrol observing the two cats and how Duskleaf taught Cricketpaw. Awkward as it all was, she was still glad the warrior decided to step up to teach the little one. After picking up her catches, she padded towards them as they also finished up their hunt. The sun already began to set, still far from dipping into the horizon but it was getting late.

She gave the apprentice a soft bump on the side, and with a joking voice, "Catching a bird on your first try? Are you sure you didn't have any training."

Floodsight tilted her head towards where they've arrived at noon, and with prey in her jaws she mumbled, "Alright, good work, everyone. It's getting late, so let's head back now."
