Today was shaping out to be pretty rotten, or the week rather. She didn't think anything could top a hawk attack, one on a kit for that matter, but with pain edgding at her from all sides, she was beginning to think the hawk had swooped in and dropped her instead. It wasn't just the mental pain of being so drained getting out from her mossbed was like torture. No, oh no, it was far worse. Besides the fact that she had kittens in her stomach, she was beginning to worry that she ate something rotten. So, as any sane cat would (though, was she really sane?) she willed herself to the medicine den, her pale fur ruffled from all the tossing and turning she'd been doing in her mossbed. Just getting over to the makeshift den made her break a sweat.
"Ms..." Swanberry paused. Oh, right, Mistyshard wasn't here anymore. The queen simply bit her tongue before resuming her statement, her voice frail. "Ms. Berrypaw, a moment, please?" She heaved out, sliding onto the floor in painful exhaustion. Stars, what was wrong with her? Okay, details, info, something to keep the apprentice afloat and updated. "Erm, I'm uh pregnant, I've had pain similar I guess, but its sharper this time. Is there a way you can..." A gasp. "Ugh, check if I ate something bad? I don't know, talking is literal torture..."
TO ALL KITS
I am mentioning you so that you are aware of this thread and this birthing, so get your brains ready!! You don't have to roleplay your kit in this thread but I don't mind if you do! :3 and if you haven't already, submit them to the alliances!!
Berrypaw was woken in the middle of the night by the sound of Swanberry's pained and hesitant mew, blinking sleep from her leafy-green eyes. Shaking out her pelt and rising to her paws, the peered through the dimness of the lonely makeshift den to see the queen shuffling in, clearly in pain.
"Oh, hello—" Berrypaw's greeting was cut off by a large yawn, shaking her head as if trying to force it away. Focus, Berry, wake up — someone needs you! She padded over towards Swanberry, she took note of the queen's distended belly and her ruffled fur, probably from restless sleep. Concern creasing her brow, Berrypaw listened quietly at first as she guided the queen over towards an freshly-made nest, motioning for her to lie down with her skinny brown tail.
"Sharp pains, feeling sick..." Berrypaw echoed to herself in a mumble, wracking her young brain. It could definitely just be a stomachache, but with the queen looking this pregnant... She thought for a moment before reaching out, gently pressing one of her small brown paws to Swanberry's stomach. She could feel wriggling inside from the kits, and a certain convulsion that rippled through her belly... oh, stars, she knew that feeling. Only once before had she encountered it, but it was unmistakable. Contractions, if she recalled correctly... the beginning signs of birth.
Eyes widening a bit, Berrypaw cleared her throat, her soft voice wavering ever so slightly. "Ah... h-how long have you been pregnant, exactly...? Because — and I-I might be mistaken — it feels like... m-maybe the kits are trying to come out," she said a bit ungracefully, and with a slight nervous chuckle. "It... i-it might be time..."
Already her mind was racing — oh stars, what did Mistyshard do again during Spiritbunny's kitting? Think, think, think...

Riverwhisper paused as he was relaxing in StarClan. Something wasn't right. He stood up, walked closer to the pool where he'd watch the Clans- specifically Swanberry. Peering closer, he noticed Swanberry clearly looking like she was in pain and Berrypaw looking distraught. He wasn't sure what was going on, but he felt like he needed to be there.
"Ok." he said to himself. He'd never done this before, never meddled with the living- though he had the power to - he decided to dip his paw into the pool. And then he slowly inched into it, until he was fully submerged. He thought that if he could pass through the thing that allowed him to see the living, they must be connected.
So he dived.
Pushing through the weight he felt while swimming through, he could see the world becoming less blurred by water, less distorted, and more clear and solid. Reaching out, he felt his paw touch solid ground. Riverwhisper extended his other paw, and that one touched down as well. He let his hind legs land, and soon he was standing in the living world, a place he hadn't been in for moons.
"Hey. It's going to be ok, Swanberry." he murmured. The silver tabby gently brushed his mates flank with his soft tail. He laid down beside her, whispering encouragement in her ear. Riverwhisper looked up at Berrypaw, his eyes calming. "You're gonna do fine. Just stay calm, and remember whatever Mistyshard taught you, alright? I believe in you." he said with a soft smile.

(NOTICE!: I am aware that cats should not be pregnant for seven months (as Swanberry unfortunately has been due to not getting enough kits in time lol). So let's just pretend she's actually been pregnant for something a little over 2 months which may justify the absurd amount of stillborns )
Was feeling embarrassed in the moment normal? Swanberry hadn't really gone to the medicine den, she never felt the need to. But now, she felt oddly out of place here. Or maybe the embarrassment of getting sick was ebbing at her, something about it just had childish undertones despite the possible danger. It was nearly humorous, but Swanberry was in too much pain to strangle a laugh from her throat, not a chance.
She waddled over to the moss bed, her head reeling as her vision blurred at the edges. She began to rest her head onto her large paws, her face scrunched up as though she'd eaten something overly sour. Like a... What was it? "Lemon." Swanberry wheezed, not entirely aware that she'd spoken aloud.
She felt the rough paw pads of the medicine cat apprentice along her swollen belly and Swanberry merely blinked. Yes, I'm pregnant. I honestly thought that was pretty obvious when I walked in... but Swanberry could tell that something else flashed in the brown cats eyes, a look of cautious unease. The strawberry blonde cat blinked at her, her head tilting sideways. "What?" She murmured, or maybe she hadn't said anything, she couldn't tell. Perhaps she merely mouthed the words without the correlation of sound to come with it.
Then words came flying at her, at a speed that made Swanberry think far too much about what was even asked. "Eh... Two moons? Three maybe?" All a blur, Swanberry nearly couldn't remember anything. But the pain stayed with her, of the first few kicks and the stupid headaches, that was enough to get a good amount of the chunks engraved into her skull. Then something odd happened, as if a star straight from Silverpelt decided to touch down to the earth. The pained queen let out a harsh yowl her claws unsheathing as she spat. "What the heck is that!?" She rasped, her voice straining in her effort to yell. Like a blur of starlight. Starclan. Riverwhisper.
The queen tensed, her eyebrows knitting in disbelief. She watched as he crowded himself into the den, starry fur and all, and Swanberry felt like sobbing, if she wasn't already. She would've showed him some affection in response to his own, but she was merely in awe. She'd only seen her mate in a dream, never reality after he died. It didn't seem real, it couldn't be. Jade eyes looked over to Berrypaw, attempting to get confirmation of whether or not she was dreaming. If the medicine also saw him, then maybe she wouldn't be insane.
(also, to answer your question squidz, there's no needs to constantly tag the users who rp the kits! Once or twice is enough for me :3)

| BERRYPAW |
small & nimble dark brown she-cat with darker flecks and light, leafy-green eyes | the collector
"...Lem-on?" Berrypaw echoed confusedly and slowly. What in StarClan's name is a lemon?
But she didn't get an answer, for the half-delirious (or at least dazed) queen was already going on, her jade eyes flickering as she tried to deal with the pain and the onslaught of confounding emotions and sensations. Berrypaw became more and more sure, especially when she said 'two or three moons'... ah. So it was more than likely—
Oh!
The sudden burst of light dazzled her eyes and Berrypaw blinked in shock, staggering back in surprise. She'd only ever seen StarClan cats twice, and each time they had completely taken her off guard. It took several moments for her eyes to adjust to the brightness of the starry-pelted cat that suddenly appeared; she recognized him... a RiverClan warrior. One of the ones who'd died in the raid. Her throat tightened immediately at the thought on top of her utter surprise to see him here, just now...
Oh, they must've been mates... of course. That all made sense. And only confirmed to the medicine cat apprentice that the time for kitting had certainly begun. As the initial shock ebbed away into realization, Berrypaw shook her head to clear it, letting out a shaky breath.
"You're gonna do fine. Just stay calm, and remember whatever Mistyshard taught you, alright? I believe in you."
She offered a weak, sheepish smile and a firm nod to Riverwhisper's words. She was still scared — stars, more like petrified to be doing this all on her own — but it was like the visit from the dead was something of a comfort. A sign that they were being looked over; they were going to be alright... and she could do this. Yeah... she could do this... he was right...
"T-Thank you," she whispered genuinely to Riverwhisper, dipping her head to him. Then sense and reason came back to her, and her leafy-green gaze narrowed slightly in concentration and determination, doing her best to shove down the nerves that prickled her paw pads. She had to act — now was the time. "I-I'll be right back..."
The small herbalist then raced to the herb stores, grabbing a prepared moss ball and dunking it in a nearby clean puddle. And the nearest stick she could find. She ran back over, dropping the items right next to Swanberry's muzzle for easy access. "...Here. Some water, y-you gotta stay hydrated," she instructed before racking her brain. What had Mistyshard done? Right...
Berrypaw then crouched over by Swanberry's stomach, gently massaging and kneading with small, sheathed paws, as if coaxing the kits out. She knew she probably shouldn't give the suffering cat any poppy seeds; she might get sleepy, and the last thing Berry needed was an unconscious queen actively giving birth.
"I-It'll be okay, Swanberry... I definitely think it's time for them to come, s-so... just... start pushing, like clenching your stomach, and see how that goes... o-okay...?" She mewed, pawing the stick closer to Swanberry's muzzle. "Ah... for pain," she explained softly and quietly, almost like it was a secret that if said too loud would make the queen panic as she realized it was happening.
This would be a learning experience for both of them, it seemed. At least Berrypaw had sorta seen this once before, but still. Here goes nothing...
