Redmire's eyes followed the path Sedgeflake's claws took against the den's flooring. 'Minnows in the ocean'. That really was a good way of putting it.

"No. At least, I doubt it." It wasn't even that hard to answer, and honestly, it was a little sad. She should be able to trust her Clan with everything, but now? It felt as if she were walking on cracked ice these days. "And it would be made sure of, regardless of what others would have to say about it."

She let her own claws flex into the floor, watching the rotten wood sink beneath them instead of puncturing. If they didn't sing praises to the sky... they were seen as expendable. Maybe even a threat.

"It's just so..." Sedgeflake tried to find the word, but it was kind of a struggle. "It feels like it'd be easy, to hide it under that. If no one looks into it, why would it be caught? If.. all it takes is some words to make them disappear, why would it be questioned?" In the absence of consideration and thought, one could get away with many things. "All eyes are on just a few... and those are who get the attention."

The concept made him uneasy, and in his rumination his claw got stuck in the wood. "Ouch." he muttered, trying to pull it out without damaging himself too much.

Twitchy and nervous.
Probably because she feels out of place.
But she shouldn't.
She doesn't remember anything before this, anyway.

It's just, all these cats are glad to be home, but she doesn't know this place very well.
Whatever.
It's fine.
She's part of this Clan now, she'll figure out how to make herself feel like she fits in.
But remembering something would sure be helpful. It's been moons, you think she would've by now.

Duskkit batted at her own tail, annoyed she couldn't catch it.

She jumped in a circle, before she slumped and gave up.
She sat down and looked around.

Redmire was starting to pick up what he was putting down. Her eyes roved over the floor, all of its divots and cracks as realization dawned. "And if you climb high enough... no one will have the guts to question it." Because if the constant threat was complacency or your throat split open, with resources and intent to back it, who would dare to to stick their neck out?

She lifted her gaze back to Sedgeflake's face. "You really think...?"

"It is my concern." A confession, the cause of this talk. "But what is there but that, a thought?" A plausibility, seeming more fruitful by the constant fear of punishment for being anything but the quiet follower. Sedgeflake could barely remember Kestrelstar's days, but he felt like things didn't feel so suffocating. The Clan... felt closer to being a family. "Please, speak of this mindfully." Because of course she'd talk if she saw value in it, this was Redmire. "It will do no one good if your guts are spilled over ..this."

...Ugh. This sucked. And it wasn't even something she could go running her mouth off about immediately, either. She was no use to anyone dead.

"Yeah," Redmire muttered. "Got it. I'll try to watch my mouth. Thank you for... bringing this to my attention."

She might have come to the conclusion herself, one of these days. But it certainly wouldn't have been at any point soon.

The Lionheart purred fondly at the two kits as he corralled them inside the nursery, doing a quick scan before ducking his head in as well to make sure he hadn’t missed any sneaky kits. Once he was sure they were all inside, he followed.

”So you two want to learn crouches then, huh? I suppose a small lesson wouldn’t hurt. But only if you promise not to sneak out again.” He said, looking thoughtful as he narrowed his eyes at Songkit and Shallowkit. As he stood there, another lot caught his eye. ”Duskkit! Why don’t you join us?” He called to the small brown she-kit.

Shallowkit frowned but nodded. "Yeah. We won't. I dunno if Momma would be too happy." He commented and looked at Songkit. "We won't, right?" He meowed quite loudly and narrowed his eyes, completely ignoring how Brokenstream had called over another kit.

The tom was bored. There was nothing good going on in camp. He yearned to explore, but knew it would mean trouble if he went out alone. Maybe he should ask Duskleaf to take him and Beaverpaw on a tour around the old territory? More than just Rugged Range for patrol. Suddenly, it clicked in his head. Beaverpaw! His fellow apprentice seemed quiet, just like him. A bit shy. Riftpaw wasn’t shy, but he wasn’t the most talkative either. But…maybe this would be a chance to work on that.

His eyes scanned the clearing until they landed on a familiar brown pelt. Padding silently up behind Beaverpaw, Riftpaw cleared his throat. ”Hi, Beaverpaw.” That’s all he said, staring silently at his den mate while he awaited a response. Geez, creepy much?
