Dusklion - RiverClan Deputy

With everything that had happened over the last several days, the gray furred deputy desperately needed a break from it all. Away from the den, away from being overworked, away from just... everything. But of course, she waited until everything had been secured and there were guards at the den before she headed out; by this time the moon was already high in the sky and the stars were out.

It wouldn't likely be a long outing, but nonetheless at least she would get a chance to breathe.

Like all of her ventures that ended with her gazing up at the sky and the stars that made up Silverpelt, Dusklion found herself on the sandy shoreline of Lionsbeach. She made her way over to the rock she always sat upon, bunching her muscles and springing up to settle onto it. There wasn't much of a breeze tonight but the air was still a bit cold, and the waves lapped at the shore gently in the distance.

Settling down she lifted her eyes to the stars and let out a sigh, tail swinging off the side of the rock next to her.

Her head hurt. Her shoulders hurt. Hell, her throat even felt raw from all the snarling she'd done at the incompetents these past few days, something that rarely ever happened. Stars... she was ready to be out of the cursed, rotting old den and back in the territory they belonged in.

Redmire hadn't been planning on leaving the den tonight. From her lookout post, though, she'd seen Dusklion leave - and for some reason, she followed. She kept a distance, kept to the shadows to avoid being seen just in case she wasn't wanted and would be turned away before she arrived.

Lionsbeach was the apparent target. Redmire rarely came out here. She didn't like the sounds of the waves. They were too loud for her liking, drowned out her thoughts. She preferred to be able to hear herself over everything else. For a long moment, Redmire lingered at the edge of the beach, her pads and ears prickling, before she stepped forward and deliberately brushed against the bushes to avoid startling Dusklion.

"Stars are bright tonight," she said quietly, moving up next to the stones.

Dusklion - RiverClan Deputy

Normally these outings were spent with just herself, something she had been doing ever since Fluffs had shown her Lionsbeach for the first time. It was perhaps the place that most drew her out of all of RiverClan's landmarks for its ability to just take everything off her shoulders for a brief moment.

The rustling of bushes had her ears perking though and she glanced over her shoulder. Her blue eyes scanned the sand below to land on the familiar pelt of Redmire. Relaxing once seeing that it wasn't a treat or predator - or, stars forbid, an incompetent mouse-brain she'd have to yell at - Dusklion gave a grunt in response, looking back up at the stars. "They seem brighter since we got back. Don't remember 'em shinin' like this in the mountains." A pause, then, "wonder if its StarClan welcomin' us back, or just a coincidence since we haven't seem 'em in awhile."

Redmire was prepared for a rejection, but when none came, she leaned back on her haunches and coiled her tail around one of her hind legs. Her eyes remained on the stars above, albeit flicking to Dusklion a few times.

"Maybe." Redmire pressed her paws into the sand. "I've never really paid them much attention, to be honest. I definitely didn't when we were up there. Do you... come out here often? To watch them, I mean."

Dusklion - RiverClan Deputy

Never paid much attention to them? It would never fail to shock the deputy how cats weren't endlessly fascinated with the swath of stars above them. How ethereal they appeared, and how each one belonged to a different ancestor looking down on them. Perhaps it was because when she had gotten separated from her father and traveled alone for a bit, they had been a constant in her life.

"Whenever I get the chance," she answered without hesitation, a thoughtful look crossing onto her face. "Use to look at 'em all the time before I joined RiverClan with Fades. Didn't know why I always felt so... drawn to 'em. Now that I know they're the Clan's ancestors, it makes more sense." Why she felt drawn to them, why they had seemed to guide her right to RiverClan. The deputy didn't much believe in coincidences, but there were a couple things that seemed like fate - and this was one of them.

Looking over at Redmire, she studied the warrior for a bit. "A couple of 'em have talked to me, actually." Her eyes glittered with a brief hint of excitement. So far, she hadn't told anyone about her dream visits with Hawkstar or Fury - not even Fades. But it had been tearing her up inside to not share it with someone, and the excitement it brought her.
