With Concorde having screwed up big time, Duskleaf didn't even realise what he'd just said, the information he’d just revealed in front of WindClan cats. As he didn’t yet see the actual major problem, he was still a bit annoyed at Redmire for heading towards the border. What if something started with those WindClan cats?! "Listen, I know it's not the best, I get it…but why in the stars did you come here of all places?!" Surely Redmire could’ve gone somewhere else in the territory if she was that sick of the twoleg den, coming to the border of a clan it’s fair to say weren’t on RiverClan’s good side at the moment…well that didn’t make a lot of sense to him. "That could've caused a disaster!"

Fleetsmoke was in no hurry on her way down to the border, reciting the herbs Lightningstorm had called her for in her mind.

Ivy and tansy. Ivy and tansy.

Catching the sight of some ivy wrapping around a nearby tree on her Clan´s side of the valley that separated WindClan´s territory from RiverClan´s, the brown-and-white splotched WindClanner approached in a few swift bounds.

Hooking her claws into the thick ivy tendrils, Fleetsmoke pulled and strained at them. She managed to break off a few of them, giving a wave of her tail in satisfaction.

Grabbing the ivy, the warrior padded around the valley, spotting the yellow, coltsfoot-like flowers nearby. However, the scent was different. It had more of a...tang...to it. Tansy. She recognized the scent from what she had been taught as an apprentice learning basic healing.

Setting down the ivy tendrils, Fleetsmoke gently nipped some of the tansy stems off of the plant, managing to make sure that she didn´t damage them. Grabbing the tansy and ivy, she headed back to camp.

a broken white and black pelt sat near the river bank a claw here and a tooth there the body was to messed up to tell what the cat looked like before or who they were, the body showed no signs of foul play but the cause of death is unknown

Alright the situation with the actually not alone apprentices at sunset grove take care of Crowtooth was free to continue his little rounds of the territory. Honestly he didnt have much of a reason to do this, just felt like stretching his legs topside for once. Though he probably shouldve brought someone, Hawkfur maybe, just in case there was trouble but in his defense this was the last stop and it'd been fine so far!

Though the last stop being the windclan riverclan border.... Where the last deputy was killed.... By the clan that was now home....
Maybe he was being a bit stupid.


Especially because there was a corpse here oh dear starclan.


Doing a thorough check of the area before approaching to make sure he was alone and the cause of this death was long gone (though despite seeing hearing and smelling little Crowtooth could swear he was being watched) the tom tentatively approached to investigate. The body was... mangled body shape gone to what'd ripped it apart leaving really only scraps of the water logged pelt to identify it. Not even scent was left, of this cat or its killer, washed away from the river it'd obviously been in before it somehow got back up the shore.

Luckily, or unluckily the remains of the pelt gave enough clues. "Tallgrass...." that was the scar of the tom who'd disappeared mid patrol, vanishing from his group and who'd been slated for temporary demotion if he ever returned. ...Now the tom wished that'd happened rather then this.

Gently pawing over the shredded body the original cause of death was impossible to find under all this and to be honest whatever was done was too.... brutal to figure either. It almost seemed beyond what a cat could do but there was no scent of fox dogs or coyote on the bank and they hated water so there'd be some.... It was just bizarre there was no sign of riverclan on the other bank too, the scent the same as the markings that were left days ago when the body wasnt there and just no signs of other cats.

Crowtooth was tempted to almost approach the river, use his new and basic swimming skills to investigate but a sudden shock of instinctive fear stopped him, the tom jolting to alertness. He wasnt alone, something was watching him and all Crowtooth saw before it vanished was a pair of non feline eyes in the river.

Then it was gone and the tom was getting OUT OF HERE, grabbing what he could of Tallgrass for burial and bolting best he could, knowing the river in one way or another caused his death.

Caveclaw gave a nod to both Rainpaw and Splashleap as they arrived "Good, let's get going." She said, before she left the twoleg den.

She could smell the scent of WindClan a mile away before they even got to the border, but once they arrived, she became even more wary.
"Don't get to close, mark and then move away." She stated "Let me know if you spot anything suspicious."

The lykoi mix then moved to mark the border, keeping her blue eyes and her patrolmates and across said border.
She didn't trust WindClan not to surprise them if they even just felt like it.

Rainpaw followed Caveclaw closely, she had no intentions of wandering off or allowing herself to get ambushed. She nodded at Caveclaw's directions, observing as she set a boundary marker before moving to set one herself, careful not to over mark like Dusklion said.

Deadmoon reached the border in relatively short order, trying perhaps a bit too hard to go quickly. It wasn't like it would do any permanent damage, but she might be sore for a day or two. It was fine, as long as she didn't have to go sprinting around again in the next few days she'd be none the worse for her little overexertion. It was annoying though, slowing to a walk with a slight limp and breathing far too heavily. She approached the border more slowly than she might have normally, both on account of Riverclan's return and as Crowtooth had mentioned something lurking in the water. Despite knowing how to....not drown, she had no desire to get jumped by anything more comfortable in that element than herself.

As Deadmoon drew nearer to the border, it became clear that Riverclan also had a patrol in the area. Three cats, working their way along the scent marks. A familiar brown and white pelt. That did not particularly please Deadmoon, not one iota. Splashleap was NOT who she needed to be seeing today of all days, not be a long shot. But she did feel compelled to address the Riverclan cats, if only to avoid any terribly awkward silences that might make things feel more hostile. She also didn't want to be accused of plotting an ambush or anything if they came up behind the other clans cats, however benign their intentions might be.

Hello! she called, raising her voice to a good enough volume she could certainly be heard. We're just here to mark the border read: we come in peace and you'd better do the same and I was wondering if you'd seen anything in the river today. Our deputy said some critters were out and about. Hopefully this was general enough that she couldn't be accused of sharing clans secrets (though Crowtooth had apparently learned of whatever the things were from Riverclan) or being passive aggressive about Riverclan not taking care of whatever it was. Tragically this seemed like it might end up as a joint campaign of some sort, seeing as it was a very mutual problem. How keen both clans would be on teaming up remained to be seen of course, but it felt like the most natural course of events at this point. But all that was far above her pay grade. For now she was just.....inquiring of a neighbor, and marking her own border. @Estelle @Lightningpaw666 @Idiotic.Bean101 @Luna16 @/gs29513

Splashleap was in the rear of their little patrol as they made their way to the border, perfectly happy to let Caveclaw lead the way as they dealt with a rather ticklish border situation. She didn't think they'd actually run into an Windclan cats, it should be simple enough just to mark the border and move on, but one never knew. At first, things did seem perfectly peaceful. She advanced just to each scent mark and then withdrew to move onto the next one, making her way along the scentline with the Lionheart and apprentice. Fortunately Rainpaw seemed to be the sensible type, doing her job of marking the border and not risking straying over the line. It shouldn't have to be a surprise that things were going well enough, but alas, it was. Riverclan hadn't exactly seemed stable since she'd returned (and by all accounts they were worse beforehand) so small victories were victories all the same.

But of course, peace never lasted for long. Splashleap had just set another marker when a voice rose from the moors, hailing the Riverclan cats. And it was a voice Splashleap very unfortunately was well acquainted with. Deadmoon. She'd been rather afraid a confrontation of some sort would come since she'd returned, the other molly had been far more insistent upon going back to the clans than she'd been at first. She'd even considered going to Windclan with her, before their fiery split. So it wasn't unexpected that the other molly was also about, leading a patrol on the moors. Splashleap hated that she noticed the little things about the others posture now, the way her voice sounded confident but her eyes were flighty. An act, then. Deadmoon was uncomfortable about something, but trying her best to stay firm. She hated how she briefly admired it, and then shook her head. They were on opposite sides of the border for a REASON, and she'd best not forget that. Beneath the sometimes charming exterior was a frustrating cat, Splashleap knew that well. A cat she had no intention of dignifying with her attention again. Caveclaw would have to take the lead on responding to this one, because her maw was staying FIRMLY shut.

when Caveclaw noticed the WindClan patrol, she hoped they would just stay silent and move on.
But nope.
The head of the patrol asked a question.
About something in the river?

Nothing new, no.
The lykoi mix just shook her head in response as a 'no', not feeling like talking to the other clan cat.

She turned to her own patrol mates, making sure they were done as well "Are we ready to head back?" They asked Rainpaw and Splashleap, though she kept an eye on the other side of the border, just in case.

Not to be dramatic, but the moment Deadmoon seemingly unnecessarily raised her voice and inquired the RiverClanners across the borders, Silverrose felt about ready to claw her maw shut and drag her back to WindClan by the tail (now imagine if those cats were ShadowClan, hah!). She was not looking for trouble, skirmishes or any form of interraction with the undoubtedly irritated and possibly flighty clan that was RiverClan; who knew what they could be up to and, as she moved to thoroughly mark WindClan's side of the border, Silverrose could for once only hope this patrol to be over swiftly, and for RiverClan to be gone even quicker. While the molly of the group clearly couldn't be bothered to spare the minimum of grace to WindClan by answering, at least her patrol mate had an ounce of sense to them by giving a quick and curt answer that Silverrose could easily accept (a brief look crossing Deadmoon) as she continued to mark along the borders, evidently on guard.

Rainpaw was startled when she heard the voices of other cats from across the border, the scents on the WindClan side grew stronger as they approached. Rainpaw had to force her pelt not to bristle with anxiety, wishing her sister was there, but she couldn't keep her anxious feelings from her face. She took a tentative step back from the border, glancing at Caveclaw and Splashleap, relieved to see Caveclaw was preparing to leave.

She quickly dipped her head to the WindClan patrol as a show of respect before joining Caveclaw, looking at her expectantly as a sign that she was prepared (and eager) to return to the camp.
