Was that really the case? The wind was strong, but it was still fine where they currently stood. Bouncepaw could walk and jump and even run higher up the hill. But this was Bluestrike afterall, his mentor. He likely had a lot of experience. Bouncepaw makes a mental note in his mind: Sky Glade and Windy Hills were dangerous. Do not go too high.

"Got it. I'll be careful." The wind takes his breath away, so he has to meow louder to be heard.

Bluestrike nodded. Now, that concludes the end of the tour. Would you like to see the borders, or is there anything else you want to work on? He mewed, trying to make his voice sound tough, his tail high in the air.

The borders, or they could work on something... Bouncepaw thinks it over. The borders, on one hand, sounded fun and exciting, and he bet few of the other apprentices had been there. Maybe they would even see a real other clan cat!

It was decided. "I want to go to the borders," Bouncepaw's eyes glint with curiosity and interest. "Especially Thunderclan and Riverclan. I'm going to memorize their scents and learn how to do a border patrol!

Bouncepaw follows his mentor back to their initial spot. He didn't notice before thanks to all his excitement, but now that it's mostly died down, his paws ache. He feels as if he's lugging along two stones on both his paws, though he tries his best not to show it.

Patrolling all the territories of Windclan is not something easy or simple for a new apprentice.

Bouncepaw hesitates. On one hand, he wanted something to brag to his sister about. Like a successful hunt on his first hunting training. On another hand, he felt tired and his paws felt like they were on fire.

Bouncepaw listens to Bluestrike and follows his instructions, tucking in his tail and keeping his head low. Though he did feel tired at first, now that he's getting hunting training, he seems to be renewed with energy and excitement. Adrenaline is scary that way.

[Bouncepaw rolls a 2]

But he's tired and tense, and he's a little too low on the ground, like a snake. If he was in the grass, every single move of his would have made a swishing noise and he would have alerted prey in a half mile radius. And his low center of gravity causes Bouncepaw to stumbles a few steps. Once he loses his balance, he also has difficulty regaining it.

Bluestrike scurried over to his apprentice, holding him by the scruff to steady him. Are you alright? He mewed gently, touching his tail to Bouncepaw's muzzle.

"I'm fine, just embarrassed." Bouncepaw meows with frustration, but he doesn't actually look all that nervous or embarrassed. He isn't hurt either, it's only a stumble. "This is harder than I thought."

(Bluestrike is also the best mentor I've encountered on WCO, lol. Ty.)

Bluestrike purred. If you keep low, you won't lose your balance. He mewed. Training an apprentice took patience. Most cats didn't have that, but he was determined to make Bouncepaw's apprenticeship the best one he could ask for. Now, tell me. He flicked his tail. What do you smell?
