Mountaintalon hummed quietly, the sound rough and rolling from the back of his throat. "We could probably clear out those predators by ourselves, if we wanted. A couple of mutts or birds won't be much of a match."
Maybe he could get Kestrelpaw in on it, too. His claws scraped at the grass at the thought, and he cast her another glance. She had lost all credibility for her discretion. Ways for her to restore it were limited, and it would never be the same, but maybe he could find something.
His thoughts drifted back to Cedarstrike; certainly not a soft cat by any means, but she seemed... malleable, in a way. And after the disappointments spurned from his last two mates, he was in need of... he would call them replacements for now. Willowfreeze had nearly ruined him. Brightlark's offspring were coming close. And while Cedarstrike seemed suggestable like Brightlark, she was stronger, something he needed to see in his children.
With a silent exhale, Mountaintalon leaned down to bump his nose briefly against Cedarstrike's ear, murmuring, "Perhaps we'll venture out once the craziness has settled a bit. You're someone I actually enjoy spending my time with."
The apprentice's eyes flew open, and he started forward in surprise. Popping up from his nest, he gave his pelt a brief shake before darting out of the den. Bumblystork! Had something happened? He trotted over to the group as more cats came together, taking up a spot next to Shockhoney. They hadn't met, but he remembered her warrior ceremony from the last meeting, largely because her apprentice name had been his outsider name. Kestrel. He felt some unspoken bond because of this, even though she likely didn't know his name.
He listened in keen interest as Bumblystork explained the recent events. That was scary. In the outskirts they'd dealt with a couple foxes and big birds occasionally, but this was much worse. Or, he supposed, Pax and Autumn had dealt with them. No one was allowed out without permission from a Hornet or high rank. He was glad his mentor was a Hornet. There was no way he was gonna let this slow his training down.
Mallowpaw had been dozing in the apprentice den when Bumblestar's angry call cut through the fog of her dreams. She scrambled to her paws, her mind trying to process what was happening. A clan meeting. It hadn't been a half moon since the last one, had it? And considering the Bumblestar's tone, something must have happened. Something that warranted an immediate announcement. And this time it wasn't the proclamation of the new medicine cats. Had another high rank died? Was Bumblestar declaring war on another clan?
By the time Mallowpaw had emerged, bleary-eyed, from the den and sat in front of the Stormcrest, Bumblestar had already begun her announcement. Even before she could register what the leader was saying, her eyes were drawn to splatters of blood on her pelt, reminding her of the speck of crimson she had seen on her paw during the meeting when Springlight's death was announced. Someone had died today; the only question was whether it was a clanmate or an enemy.
It was a clanmate. Two, to be more accurate. Appleleap and Fleckpaw; not cats she had ever really interacted with, but they were her clanmates. The latter had slept in the same den as her. And now they were both dead, killed by a pack of coyotes due to Darkecho's apparent negligence. He had been exiled for that. It was a harsh punishment, but if his actions had caused the deaths of two cats, a fair one.
ThunderClan was in lockdown. No cat could leave camp without the permission of Bumblestar, Spiderthroat or a Hornet. It shouldn't affect her training at least; that was one of the perks of having a Hornet for a mentor. A good thing; she couldn't let her training get any more behind than it already was. But then, if it affected the other apprentices' training as well, it wouldn't really matter so much.
Anyone who left camp unauthorised would be demoted or exiled, and if they let someone in their group get hurt, Bumblestar might give them the same injury in punishment. The warning made her gut roil; what if Wolfhive got hurt while he was training her? Would she fulfil the threat and hurt an apprentice? She didn't think so, but there was always the possibility. Wolfhive was her son after all, and Mallowpaw was warrior-aged. She should be able to defend him (a strange thought; not long ago, she couldn't defend herself) if necessary.

Cedarstrike couldn't help but purr quietly as he spoke. This was exciting! She wasn't a stranger to bending or breaking a few rules herself, but a whole lockdown? That would be exhilarating. Even beyond that, he enjoyed spending time with her! Maybe she'd finally have a training buddy- Or someone to just talk to. She would be content with either as her commitment to the grind left her with few connections... Her tail lazily swished behind her in thought.
"You know what? I like that idea. Actually, you've got me really looking forward to it." She smiled warmly at Mountaintalon. There was no snark or sarcasm in her tone as he'd come to know it, but there was genuineness.
Well, thank the stars he had gotten his energy out already, because who knew the next time he would be able to go meandering about the forest or on patrol? At least Sproutfleck had proven himself for his clan before with his fighting so maybe he would be allowed out of camp. That’d be nice. The Bronze Knight was certain being pinned up in camp wouldn’t do him good but this no matter the severity had clearly caused his leader to resort to desperate measures. Not to mention the deaths. Dead apprentices usually hit him harder than kits since he now understood the bond can be super strong between mentor and apprentice. If anything hurt Shockhoney or Bravepaw he wouldn’t probably murder.

A LOCKDOWN??! Woah! The situation must be dire to have a lockdown. She hadn't known about the predators--she only just got apprenticed. She dimmed a little, realizing it would be harder to train, and that cats had actually died. Not to mention she wouldn't be able to explore the forest. But not to worry! She perked up again. There must be very important tasks to do in camp! There was always things to do, and she could always make up stuff, too. That was her specialty!

The she-cat noticed one of her denmates - Snowpaw - sitting by herself. Walking over with a big smile, Fawnpaw would greet the she-cat. She did need some new friends!
"Hiya Snowpaw! I'm Fawnpaw! Do you uh.. maybe wanna be friends..?"

What. Just. Happened. Wolfpaw glanced up at Bumblestar when she called upon the clan - Emergency meeting? This sounded scary. The tripod Medicine Cat hobbled over, finding Mudhound in the crowd before silently laying down next to the hornet. "What is going on?" he muttered, glancing at his leader. It wasn’t long before he got an answer - predators. Wolfpaw just laid there in shock as all the predators were listed off, flinching at the mention of the owl (which took Springlight, his predsuccesor), and coyotes? That was something the young medic hasn’t heard of before. Mama told him stories, but none mentioned what a coyote was. He should probably ask someone after the meeting.
"Fleckpaw ‘n Appleleap are dead"
A warrior. And an apprentice. Dead. The young tom shuffled closer to his former mentor, letting out a small whimper as his green eyes watched bumblestar continue. A lockdown. This was serious. The Medicine Cat couldn’t even get his thoughts straight! He still had no clue how he was in this role, other then that StarClan apparently sent a sign, and too many leg injuries for some unknown reason, and now lockdown because of all the predators. "...Why. What did we do to earn this? he hissed under his breath. What had ThunderClan done to deserve any of this? What had Wolfpaw done to deserve any of the crap that's happened to him?

Starclan forgive him! He was late to a meeting! He went running until he took a seat with his gathered clanmates. Wait had he heard that right? Two cats dead, and a lockdown? Did that mean he couldn't leave camp? This was awful!

Snowpaw immediately perked up, looking at the new cat. "Sure!" she said enthusiastically. "I love making new friends!" She didn't ask how Fawnpaw knew her name; it didn't seem very important. "Do you have a lot of friends? I have a few friends. I'll introduce you to them, later! What do you like to do? I like to play and have fun! Have you been outside the camp yet? I have, but only once! It was awesome! I learned how to hunt! Do you know how to hunt yet? I could show you! Have you seen the other clan cats? I haven't, but i'm excited to! What do you think they'll be like?" she said in a flurry of words. She wanted to know everything about her! Then they could do everything together! She was very excited by the prospect of a new friend.
