the meeting goes as per usual. new apprentices, reassignments, new members – one being a former riverclanner, which she can feel repressed guilt trying to ride to the surface at the mention of the clan – considering of mostly outsiders. and finally, a new warrior. midnightpaw, who she's not very familiar with, having only been on a patrol with her once and sharing a conversation one time if she remembers correctly. still, new warriors are always good.

"m-midnightpath..!" squirrelrise cheers. or, er, really it comes out as normal volume than a yell. it's the thought that counts. a russet ear gives a twitch as the cheering dies down, and dawnstar moves on with the meeting. her heart sinks at the next announcement, yellow eyes widening.

silverlark..? dead? her stomach churns, leaving her feeling sick to her stomach. she can't say she'd been close friends with the tom, but they'd shared a meal once and he was impossibly kind. a good warrior and an even better enforcer, no doubt a great friend, too. he wasn't that much older than me, either, she thinks ruefully. she sniffles, silent tears rolling down her cheeks. she forces herself to pay attention to dawnstar's speech about trespassers, trying to not mull over the loss of silverlark, as much as she wanted to bawl her eyes out.

with the meeting wrapping up, the russet molly stands and pads to the warriors den.

Hey, yeah. Yeah! He can do that, easy.

"Okay! Uh, I promise." Mosquitokit's careful with the word, like he might nick his his tongue on it if he's not. "Good luck, Wildpaw. A-And do your best! And be careful!!" He's sure he already hammered that point home but once more for good measure won't hurt. He sways in place, looking like he's about to go in for a head bump before evidently thinking better of it. He doesn't want either of them to accidentally crack their noggins, there, which feels like a very real possibility with this pair's track record. "Uhokay, I'll, see you! It'll be my turn next s-so, uh, just wait!"

With that, Mosquitokit's bounding off. That's the first two things on his to-do all done, just in time for Dawnstar to start wrapping things up. The skinny black tom's progress is brought to a jarring halt—he needs to stop and hang his head, briefly, for Silverlark's sake. Not because he knew the enforcer or because this cat's death really means anything to him, personally, but because every dead clanmate deserves to be mourned properly. Especially one who had done enough good for the clan to be named Enforcer.

He's back to moving once he spies other cats doing so, skidding through the shifting crowd to finish up his final self-imposed task: saying hi to Shadekit.

Mosquitokit staggers to an awkward halt and instead of just saying hi like he'd planned to, and means to, and wants to, his opener is:

"I still can't really see your stripes."

A beat. Mosquitokit blinks, realizing that this is a meaningless remark and hastily continuing to the part that matters: "Um! Hi Shadekit." That's—uh, that's all I wanted t'say, actually."

Look at that. He did everything. Meetings rule.

Briarsplash dipped her head in a moment of customary silence at the mention of the loss of Silverlark. She'd had no idea the Enforcer had been sick, either... it was a shame. The loss of a solid and trusty warrior was heavy news.

She can't help but let out a small grunt of frustration upon hearing the border news. How could some cats be so lizard-brained? She made a mental note of Dawnstar's instructions, vowing to herself not to be the one to screw it up. Especially with her new title as Enforcer, more eyes were on her.

She nodded to herself once Dawnstar dismissed everybody, going off to nibble on a bird from the fresh-kill pile and sun her thick coat of fur for awhile.

The older apprentice waited in anticipation. The leader always seemed angry but earlier?…She seemed angrier than usual. Some different mood. Annoyance but worse? Who knew. He didn’t. He just waited as she hadn’t dismissed them. The idea of more outsiders joining the clan was…interesting to him. He didn’t mind it just…oh who knew? He didn’t.

Owlwing grumbled and rolled over again in his bed of moss. He couldn't sleep with everything going on, as well as Silverlark's death. Hearing all the news from the border, he couldn't fathom how some cats could be so mouse-brained. He sat up and stretched. No sleep would come to him in this state. Owlwing padded out of the Warrior's Den, over to the fresh-kill pile for a bite of vole, trying to clear his head of all these troubling thoughts.

”Really!? Yay! Can my nest be next to yours in the apprentices’ den?” SHE MADE A FRIEND! Mintpaw bounced up and down, grinning so widely her face started to hurt. But it was worth it. SHE MADE A FRIEND! ImadeafriendImadeafriendImadeafriendImadeafriendIm adeafriendIMADEAFRIEND!!!! Pigeonpaw was so NICE! Imadeafriendimadea—wait how did I not talk to her before? Doesn’t matter. The meeting was STILL GOING? Oh. A cat died? Huh. That was really all she grasped from the words Dawnstar said. Mintpaw does have serious trouble focusing…but who cares, really.

Her mentor said something. She turned back, listened carefully then nodded. His mother wasn’t here? She must be hunting. “Okay! TRAINING TOMORROW!” She bounced up and down.

Hemlockleaf smiled at Mintpaw. He couldn't help but remember what it was like when he was first made an apprentice. It felt like it was ages ago, but he was only a young warrior so it wasn't all that long ago. I'm already starting to think like an elder... He thought to himself, inwardly groaning. He returned his attention to Mintpaw and nodded calmly. "Yes." He responded. "But," he lifted his tail to try and grab Mintpaw's attention before she went squealing off, "our first session will be a tour of the territory. Pigdeonpaw has already completed this so I don't think their mentor will want to join us for that." He added. "Perhaps after our tour?" He suggested. "I can speak with Pigdeonpaw's mentor."

[OOC: I'm only assuming Pigdeonpaw has done the territory tour since they're 8 moons and that's usually the first thing apprentices do lol. If I'm wrong, please correct me!]
