It seemed that these days Merlin was finding himself outside of camp more and more often. The colony was often loud, and there was so much happening that he could hardly find a quiet moment to sit by himself and think save for the late hours of the night. Not that he particularly minded all things considered. But the quiet of the territory was something the tabby found himself needing more and more of in recent moons.
So, color him surprised when a strange scent comes across that belonged to neither the Atari nor to their current adversary, or even to that new group that had found a home in these mountains. Slipping into a low bush nearby, the scarred tom observes for a moment. This cat was certainly making no effort to hide the fact he was here. Did he just miss the Atari scent markers entirely? Was he stupid?
The question of whether or not it was smart to confront him alone briefly flashes through Merlin's mind, but, though he cannot remember it, he knows he's held his own against multiple cats at once before. Besides, he wouldn't be very much of a Claw if he couldn't hold his own, now would he?
"Excuse me!" Merlin calls out, slinking out of the bush where he'd been hiding previously. "This is Atari land, what do you think you're doing here?" Small, stubby tail goes through the motions of lashing back and forth, though the effect is not quite as strong as it might have been before it was bitten off.

"Oh, I didn't realize. I just assumed that if there was no group here there would be a chance I could try and locate my brother. But since it seems there is a group here, is there any chance that I may join? I might as well just give up trying to find my brother since I can't find him." Shogun spoke in a calm, very polite voice.

He wanted to join..? Well, Merlin knew that Saturn wasn't exactly opposed to outsiders who wanted to join them - there were quite a few of the current Atrari who had, at one point or another, belonged to some other group or to no group at all. And besides, this cat wasn't putting up any kind of fight at all, he was rather respectful. While this didn't ease Merlin's wariness exactly, it certainly didn't do anything to increase it.
"...I'll let our Crown know you're here," he says after a moment. "What's your name?"
Freedom.
She was all done with receiving reports and the Crag seemed as peaceful as always, so she was allowed to a little Saturn-time for once. Muscles tensed underneath her as the Crown took a leap over a stone, slipping between rocks and smoothly pacing along the ledges of the Atari territory, secure paws finding their footing on the rocky paths she had scaled since she was a child.
A frisk breeze picked up and ruffled through her lilac-grey fur and the Crown settled down on a ridge to relax at the edges of the Atari's territory. But the wind brought her more than just a refresh, and Saturn's tattered ears twitched and angled towards them as she heard two voices. One was familiar, one of her Claws, but the other one... the voice of a stranger. Saturn had talked to almost everyone in the Atari more than once, being at least acquainted with most, and she was very sure that this cat was not among her ranks.
'I'll let our Crown know...' Welp, new stuff for her to handle she supposed. But she had chosen this, and would not trade her rank for anything. So with a couple of smooth leaps, the Crown slipped down from her spot, weaving through rocks and sparse bushes before finding the two. She nodded greeting to Merlin "sup" before glancing the outsider up and down. "Overheard a mentioning so thought I'd zip over," she mused before turning back to the cat she actually knew. "So what's happenin'?"

"My name is Shogun." He introduced himself warmly. The arrival of a taller, higher-ranking cat and his tail swished as he dipped his head down softly in a sort of bow of greeting. @Luminous

It seemed that Merlin wouldn't have to go back to camp to retrieve his Crown, as she had instead come to him. With a respectful nod to Saturn, Merlin began to explain.
"Saturn, this cat here... Shogun, you said you name was?" He asks with a nod to the Atari hopeful, "anyway, he was looking for someone, but asked to join us. I was just about to get you." There were no glaring red flags this Shogun was giving off, but you can never be too careful and, as such, Merlin was still wary.
Shogun? Eh not something she couldn't get used to; she had heard stranger names. Cats looking to join the Atari always piqued her interest, and copper eyes tinted with curiosity as her gaze glided back to the outsider. Well he seemed well-mannered so far, and Merlin would have voiced his concerns if something had happened before Saturn had gotten here. Her Claw seemed uncertain, yes, but searching the mists of her memories, that was nothing out of the usual.
"Alright, alright... So you want to join? I mean I get why. Well, let's hear it, make a case for yourself, convince me!" Her voice was cheery, almost playful but the challenge was still evident.

As Ace was about to exit the camp, her fur prickled. She turned, and looked at the cat who was staring at her. What? She took a few paw steps towards him, but changed her mind. If somebody wants to talk to me, they have to actually talk, she thought, and plunged into the exit.
I don't need anyone, she tried to convince herself as she padded away on the hard ground. She walked, and walked, until she couldn't see the camp anymore. Sitting down roughly, and looked up to the sky. Where are you? she thought, gazing at the clouds. She dropped her head in grief, tears forming. "Why... why did you have to leave me?" she whispered into the ground. (NPC sister) could've been with her, right now, helping her. She would've known what to do. But she's gone. She bit back a sob and dug her claws in the rough stone, her claws scraping uncomfortably. She could be here to see this strange place- the mountains. The ruggen, barren, hostile mountains. And help her to survive.
Ace had never seen anything like the mountains until she'd stumbled across it. At first it seemed amazing. But everything is bleak without her sister. She missed her so, so much. Blurry tears dropped, making small, wet indents in the earth. She knew, distantly, she had to get back to camp, see what's in for her. But... She could spare a few moments of grief. Right? Get her bearing. I don't want anyone to see me like this, she thought faintly.

Ace sat there for a few moments, not noticing the cat, before she heard a scuffling sound. She looked over and widened her eyes in alarm, grief forgotten. It was the cat who was staring at her! She scrambled back frantically. Nobody needed to know her personal feelings, certainly not a stranger who had been watching her. She couldn't- couldn't have this, her only friend died, she didn't need anyone interrupting her grief. Can't cats just leave her alone to adjust?
Suddenly she was hit with paranoia. He had been watching me before, she thought. Was- Did he- Going to- Kill her?! she could hardly form the thoughts in her panic. Like (NPC sister)? She knew that she was being irrational, this wasn't the same cat. But he could be working with them! She was too distraught to think clearly. She backed away, hissing, "Leave me alone!," before turning and running blindly across the rocks.
Ace ran, and ran, not looking where she was going, over large boulders and steep inclines, until surely she would've lost him. She took a deep breath in the sharp air to clear her head, and looked around, seeing where she had gone. It was a flat, large area with the remains of what looked like a bigger version of the bird nests she had seen in her brief time in the forest, and looking around, past her immediate surroundings- she caught her breath. She could see everything! The camp, another spot near the camp that she didn't know yet, craggy cliffs and points and boulders everywhere. She was so close to the sky she could almost touch it. And the ocean. She had never seen the ocean before. A glittering, blue expanse of water as large as the world.
It was beautiful.
She was staring around in wonder. The world was so much bigger than she had ever imagined. Then she got hit by another wave of grief. If only (NPC sister) was here, she knew (NPC sister) would love this place. A single tear streaked across her furry face.
