Do you want to start Battle training? I feel like that would be a good start.

Sure! I was gonna wait for dino to respond (I sent a visitor message asking if it was okay to start training but I haven’t got a response yet) I’m sure it’ll be alright anyway

After leaving the apprentices' den, Snakefang and Willowpaw made their way through the territory on their way to their first training session. Snakefang was quite pleased to see how enthusiastic Willowpaw was about fighting training, surely one day she'd be a strong and loyal ThunderClan warrior. On the way there, Willowpaw ran into a tree, and Snakefang couldn’t help but let out a little mrrow of laughter at that.

"Love the enthusiasm, but look out!" Snakefang said, a playful tone to her voice. Truth be told, she was every bit as excited for this as Willowpaw, this would be her first time ever training an apprentice, and she couldn’t wait for it! Eventually, they reached a large grassy area, perfect for training.

"This place looks good." Snakefang declared, looking around the place. Then she looked back at Willowpaw. "Okay, so the first thing I want to teach you is the 'leap-and-hold' technique, I think this one’s really important for all apprentices to learn, we'll cover this one first since it's the best way to fight a larger opponent." You're talking too much! Just teach her the technique already! Snakefang thought to herself. "Right, so to do this, you'd have to leap onto your opponent's back, and grip with your claws as hard as you can. That way, they can’t reach you to attack with their claws or teeth, and you’re free to unleash hell with your own claws." She turned side-on before continuing. "Let's try it, shall we? Just, try not to tear my fur out!" Snakefang said with a little laugh at the end.

Willowpaw grinned, dropping down into a crouch. She wiggled her hind quarters, her tail swishing around in the air. In a swift leap, she attempted to lunge for Snakefang's torso, but instead hit just below her shoulder. She let out a small mrrow of pain as she rammed into her leg. "Sorry!" She quickly apologized, leaping up to her feet. "I guess I'm just a little too excited and can't think straight!"

Snakefang waited for Willowpaw’s attack, but the young apprentice missed and accidentally hit her below the shoulder instead, then apologised and said that she was a little too excited.

"Right..." Snakefang began. "We can do this a little bit slower, I want to give you some time to think before you make any moves, don't just jump straight in and attack, give yourself a moment to think first. I know you’re excited, I'm pretty excited too, and I want to make this as fun as possible, but you need to slow down a bit, so you can focus. Y'know what I’m sayin'?" Snakefang waited for a moment or two, before continuing again. "Right, I want you to try again at that last move, but give yourself a moment to think first. I know you can do it, just remember, be calm, and think before you pounce, got that? Okay, let’s try this again."

With a nod, Willowpaw lowered herself to a crouch, her leg muscles tense. She observed how low her mentor was standing. Luckily, Snakefang wasn’t a very large warrior. Willowpaw could easily leap onto her back. She nodded, lowering herself with a short shake of her tail before leaping quickly onto Snakefang’s back.

"Much better, well done." Snakefang said after Willowpaw successfully leapt onto her back. "So from here, you can attack an enemy warrior, but they won’t be able to defend! You're out of their range to fight back, meaning you can inflict some nasty injuries." Snakefang took a brief pause before continuing. "There is one thing you have to be aware of though. Experienced warriors will know how to defend against this technique, they drop, and then roll. If you don’t jump out the way in time you could be crushed, so as soon as you feel your target getting lower, jump!"

She then decided to try this, albeit slower than she would in an actual battle, to give Willowpaw some practice at jumping away if her target tried to drop and roll. Snakefang quickly dropped to the ground, before slowly turning that into a roll so Willowpaw would have some time to get out of the way, Snakefang didn’t want to try it at full speed because she didn’t Willowpaw to get hurt if she didn’t get out of the way in time.
