Re: ShadowClan Medicine Cat's Den
Hunting. Miss Grandmama had taught her the basics, and Mistlewhiskers continued upon those bases so she could catch something... Something. She felt pride nor shame in face of her catch; you could have been better. It should have been better. But it was a catch, her first catch. And somewhere within herself the young feline found it had something... Meaningful. A rights of passage, a living piece of proof that her training was progressing. Maybe that was why her paw steps brought her here instead of the preypile; she should be setting it there, she knew, and yet she didn't. She wanted to give it. Give it to her mama... Mama we still technically a medicine cat, in a way; so mama deserved it, did she not? This was serving her clan too, right? She blinked slowly before entering the dimly lit den, her paw steps quiet as to not attract attention to herself upon entering - which is when she noticed a cat hurriedly leaving. Her brow quirked in curiosity; strange. She flicked her tail. She would have to question the feline later - she seemed to be an apprentice her age. Dipping her head inside, she made her way deeper inside the den, heart pounding, unsure if anyone else was inside. She felt nervous. Why? She had never been inside here before. Not since... Since that day. That meeting. She shouldn't be here, should she? But mama said she was always welcome - though, this wasn't mama's den anymore, was it? She didn't know. She wasn't sure. Deftly, she found a corner; a nest. It must be being used, she assumed it was mama's. Hopefully. The smell of herbs was strong, it became difficult to discern the scant of cat on the bedding and herbs. With all due respect to the male medic, this was for her mama. Gently, she lay the piece of prey down, nudging it forth. She stared at it for some time, silent, as if trying to get to piece to talk. To reveal her mama's expression. Should she wait? For mama? She mulled over the thought, expressionless, dull. But no. She shan't wait. She had to question the cat from before, her mind made up the excuse - or was she just shy to present her mother with a meagre gift she deemed hardly acceptable, and yet wished to give her mother as a sign of care. Or progress. Of love. I love you. The young apprentice thought, soundless, her lingering presence the proof. Before, quiet as she came, Sleepypaw slunk out of the den. Now to go after the apprentice, yes; to ask. Complete her job.
[ @Rose - Sleepygift finally !! her first caught piece of prey for Lark for reasons of convenience and timelines, this post takes place right after and as a result of this hunting lesson, but prior to the All Falls Down event! ]
