Briarsplash had started to track down a blackbird, but she stepped on a twig, creating a large snap. At once the bird flew up in a flurry of feathers and caws.

"Mouse-dung!" She spat, returning to her search.

The fluffy warrior continued, scenting the air until she found another trail. Dropping into a stalk, she crept forward and pounced, managing to snag a mouse with her sharp claws.

Grinning, she quickly scuffed dirt over the mouse to cover it from other lurking predators and continued creeping through, searching for more.

Wolfhowl walked along the path. He scented a mouse nearby. He stalked and pounced, but the mouse got away. He landed on a twig, which snapped, scaring away a chipmunk. He noticed quick enough to cut its escape short and caught it.

This one was a bit too embarrassing to recount. She stepped her paw right onto a thorn bush, letting out a semi-quiet but pained yowl in the process. All the birds and critters in the nearby area scattered. Cursing under her breath, the large warrior chased after the nearest prey that tried to flee past her, her pierced paw pad throbbing.

Another miss... Briarsplash let out a soft hiss behind her teeth. She wondered if Wolfhowl was having as much bad luck as she was — it seemed like each animal was narrowly escaping her claws. Shaking out the pain of the thorn in her paw, she continued on, determination blazing out of spite at this point.

Finally! Briarsplash's next target had been a nice, big thrush. She'd stalked and snagged one of its wings with her claw before it could get away. Grabbing the thrush, she backtracked and grabbed the mouse, returning to where she left Wolfhowl.

"...Any luck out there, Wolfhowl?" She called to him, hoping she didn't accidentally scare any prey he was hunting in the process.

"Not much... I only caught a chipmunk... So much for newleaf weather..." Wolfhowl replied, carrying the one piece of prey he caught, walking down to where he left Briarsplash.

Suddenly a mouse scurried right in front of him. He caught it.

"I've caught a mouse too!" he excitedly said to Briarsplash.

"Right," Briarsplash scoffed in agreement, not wanting to admit her rather... clumsy failure. But then a mouse ran right in front of his claws! Before she could even react, Wolfhowl had hooked it.

"Well look at that! "At least we'll have somethin' to bring back." She said, a snarky yet relieved edge to her voice. Huh... she looked at her own pile, frowning at how small it was. Surely she would need to bring more than two pieces herself. Tilting her head up, she checked the sun's position; they still had time.

She glanced at her Clanmate to confirm. "...I say we each go for one or two more, then head back? The Clan could use it."

Nodding her head as she settled her mind, Briarsplash bounded off to the side once more. Tasting the air yet again, she was determined to bring in as much as her Clanmate. Besides, they were already down a cat due to the apprentice not showing up — they'd need to bring extra just to compensate for that!

Catching wind of another critter, she narrowed her eyes and headed towards it as quickly as she could.

Wolfhowl nodded, and went down the path again. He padded along until he scented a crow. He pounced, but the bird flew away, and he landed on a chipmunk. The chipmunk screeched, driving away other prey in the area, but at least he caught the chipmunk.

Briarsplash heaved in a breath, determination settling in her chest. Alright. Let's go again... no time to waste.

The first attempt on a robin was already a failure, brushing too loudly against a berry bush as she slipped past it. The bird fluttered into the air, squawking in alarm. She stifled a hiss of frustration but pressed herself on, determined not to let it deter her.

[Roll: 13 | Success]

Ah, yes! Finally! As Briarsplash crept through the undergrowth, another robin bounced nearly right in front of her claws. It was tugging a worm out of the damp ground, practically oblivious to the large she-cat creeping up on it. With a satisfied snarl she hooked it with her claws, bringing it close and snapping its neck in her teeth. She decided to test her luck one more time and go for one last one...

Grinning, Briarsplash had chased down another mouse, getting the pounce on the tiny creature before it had a chance to react. Normally she wasn't that smooth and silent due to her large stature, but hey, she'd take it.

Satisfied with her haul, Briarsplash picked up the four pieces of prey and padded back to the meeting spot with Wolfhowl, waiting for the tom to return. Hopefully he caught a few more, and then they'd have a good chunk to bring back to camp.

Wolfhowl padded back to the meeting spot, carrying the prey he caught. "The only prey I caught since we were at the meeting spot last was a chipmunk..." said Wolfhowl.

"Better than nothin'," she mused, nodding to the warrior. "C'mon. Let's get back and report this patrol before Lynxshade has our hides."

She bent down, grabbing her prey and bounding off.

Wolfhowl quickly ran to camp, carrying the prey he caught. He heard a thunderpath monster's roar and falling trees... Wait... Falling trees? No time for investigating now. Wolfhowl had to report the patrol before Lynxshade had his pelt for bedding.
