Re: Mushroom Hunting [p]

Sparrowpelt sat back and let Mushroompaw hunt, watching the best he could from the position he was in. The large tom waited, smiling and rising when his apprentice returned with the small creature. "You did it! Good job!" The warrior purred, waving his tail excitedly. "Would you like to try a bird next?" He inquired. The hunting technique would be a little different, so it would be best to practice that before they head back.
Hunting was a quick lesson thankfully. It just took practice after learning the basics.

Re: Mushroom Hunting [p]
Mushroompaw(57/100)
Mushroompaw shook with excitement at Sparrowpelt's praise, his tail lashing. He had caught a mouse!! He was providing for his clan!! 'I'll be a great hunter! I'll feed the clan!' Mushroompaw's pelt bristled with excitement when his mentor suggested hunting a bird, nodding quickly.

Sparrowpelt quickly glanced around, looking for their next prey item. Thankfully their territory was filled to the brim with birds, so it didn't take long to find a robin pecking at the ground nearby. The warrior gestured towards the feathered creature.
"So birds will see you or hear you before they'll smell you. Their sense of smell is terrible so being downwind isn't as important for them. Move slowly and only when they're pecking at the ground when you stalk towarsd them," Sparrowpelt spoke quickly, but quietly.
He found himself crouching down, demonstrating what he was referring to. He crept forward when the robin began pecking and paused when it would lift it's head back up. After a few instances of this, he'd turn to look back at Mushroompaw, gesturing for the tom to copy him and take over this hunt.

Re: Mushroom Hunting [p]
Mushroompaw(60/100)
Mushroompaw quickly hid his prey and listened to his mentor's instructions on birds. He copied his mentor and crouched down, only moving forward when the robin pecked at the ground. It felt so wonderful to learn how to hunt for his clan! He smiled at Sparrowpelt and stalked forward once the robin started pecking at the ground again, his belly fur brushing the ground as he did. He froze quickly as the robin stopped. Mushroompaw glanced back at his mentor for a moment before fixing his eyes on the bird. He wiggled his back legs for a moment then pounced on top of the bird. His eyes widened as the bird steugfled and flapped its wings, so Mushroompaw quickly bit down on the bird's neck to kill it.

Sparrowpelt watched and when Mushroompaw finished his hunt, he rose and waved his tail happily, a grin displaying itself on his face. "Great job!" He'd purr, nodding with approval. Sparrowpelt thought for a moment, pondering if this was enough training -- at least for today. Coming to the conclusion that they'd accomplished plenty and had prey to bring back, he decided it was time to head back.
"Let's go back, we need to deposit this prey to the kill-pile! You did awesome today! Now, practice makes perfect!" Sparrowpelt mused, letting his apprentice collect his prey before beginning to lead them back.
